Before I even watch the highlights of this video as I do all of these videos. I would like to say how appreciative I am weekend after week out of Mr Macintosh to give us these great videos. Thank you very much for all that you do for us OU fans.
Love this video! The ending with Bob passing the visor to Brent feels like an type of end credit scene that Marvel would do. "Brent Venables will return"
I’ve been saying all season that I think Lincoln was maybe a little overrated. The offense was terrible this year and there seemed to be almost no player development. Some players actually regressed (Rattler, for one). Lincoln is a great recruiter, an ok offensive coordinator who’s getting worse, and an average head coach. Cale should have been calling plays all season.
@@soonerborn7603 he doesn't understand strategic coaching particularly the mental game. Young coaches are too arrogant to learn from the guys before them. Barry Switzer may have been the best at the mental game. His teams had swagger. They would break their opponents spirit by telling them what they were going to do and challenging them to stop it. Good defensive coordinators have figured Lincoln out he will have to learn to continuously adapt and grow his schemes and he has not shown that he is willing to do that.
Mr. Macintosh, I get it. It hurts to go back and watch the highlights from this season. I don't think it's weak to admit that. I know how invested all of us were for Caleb, the magic he pulled off against Texas is all-time Sooner legend status. How the regular season went and ended, it's still pretty fresh, and I can't blame you for not wanting to spend dozens of hours working on a project of that size for something so emotionally draining. I can barely go back and watch highlights from this season, even the higher points like that night against TCU when it all seemed like everything was going to work out. All that said, I hope you do end up making a "2021 highlights/storyline" video. The end of year videos are always the best. We can all see your development as a video editor and story teller grow with each year. You just keep getting better and better. I think there is enough content from this season to really make a powerful narrative, from how rough the season felt. Even though we were winning, it still felt like we we really won like we should, and then what happened in the RRS, and what it felt like to have Riley leave the way he did. This season was very emotional for us Sooner fans that care about this team. I think there is a story to be told, and you are the best person out there to tell it. How far we thought we had fallen, then the rally under Stoops coming in and steading the ship, and end on the hope and promising future we have under Venables. Your work really has done a lot for me over the years. Thanks for what you do. Some of my favorite art on this entire site.
I knew, before the video even started, that Mr. Mac would include the "Passing of the visor" at the end. Mr. Mac knows OU football!!! Another great video. Can't wait for the season wrap-up video!
@@camthesooner123 agreed, they will be good. But, Kennedy Brooks is an absolute beast. He’s gonna be missed more than we’d like but I do wanna see Major get the ball. LR wasted his talent, Lebby won’t! Boomer Sooner
KB was one of the best backs ever at OU he just never got the chance to prove it. I suspect Lincoln was punishing him for opting out last year. Whatever the reason if KB had gotten 30 touches / game they would have been CFP and possibly national champs. Easily Lincoln's most talented team overall and his play calling killed out. No tears here.
I've said it a lot, because it's true: Brooks reminds me of Emmitt Smith with the patience, the vision, waiting for the gaps to develop then hitting them fast, the way he seems to run slow but still gets huge chunks of yards ... Yeah, he could be really special in the league, in the right system.
If Lincoln is so good how can you explain Stoops coming out of retirement, one week of practice and produces the best game all year? Can't wait for next year now that we have the right guy on the sideline.
I was @ this game w/my brother Scott & nephew Robert. It was an amazing experience. My first bowl game. We were in the south end zone, in the top deck. I like being up that high. It gives you a "birds-eye" view of everything. The coaches & players look like ants. Very cool!!!
Mr. Mac, thank you once again for the excellent video of the Alamo Bowl. They should name you the official historian and the custodian of the OU video archives! I am watching it for the 3rd time on my big screen smart TV and immensely enjoying it w/ a cigar and a glass of 'Hen' in my hand while very comfortably ensconced in my man cave!
Kennedy Brooks is probably the most underrated OU RB of all time. I'd argue he could be the most underrated OU player of all time, period. Dude is so good.
@Troy Burress no doubt. He was vastly underutilized. How Gundy used him in the bowl game was how Riley should've used him all year. And Riley completely misused Eric Gray. Gundy used him beautifully. Gray needs the ball in space and can be used in the slot. Really excited to see how the new staff use the RBs this year. Riley was a genius kn many ways, but I never really liked how he used the RBs. He abandoned the run far too often too
I love how much people are sleeping on OU , SO much talent coming back on Defense and with BV and that staff guiding them they are gonna be a special unit , the offense is loaded to they could make a serious run
That bomb to Mims for TD is what was missing all year. Lincoln's teams were good for 2 or more of those every game the last few years. Seldom had one pee game this year. I have to believe it was the result of failing to lean on KB and the ground game
They need to change the helmet rule. Mario should've had a TD. Basically Oregon got rewarded for committing a penalty - especially when OU ended up having to kick a field goal to end that drive.
I agree!! In hockey they use Common Sense and give a team a goal on a play like that. For instance, when there is an Empty Net and a guy pulls down a player in the clear. Or if a guy throws a stick at the puck that is headed to the EN. No bother calling the penalty. They just give the team the goal.
Pass interference in CFB is no different. If a defender is going to get burned on a 40 yard pass, then committing a foul is a no-brainer, because it's only a 15 yard penalty.
Not an OU fan but seeing and hearing Stoops is classic. And when the crowd realizes is Stoops who made the catch. Oregon fans probably joined in on that and I wouldnt blame them.
Thanks Mr. Mac. OU Forever! Can I ask a Question....why was the Left Guard (#77) allowed to move the way he does staring @14:20 you see it on back to back plays? He did it all game. He is definitely not set for a full second before the snap. And it seems like it could illegally provoke an offsides by the D. Just wondering.
I’ll always be a Caleb Williams fan. Wish he stayed understood why he left cause his coach. But man if he stayed with OU I feel he would have had a better college career but then again who knows!
Vert Entertaining, and loved seeing Bob come back for 1 more... but Oregon basically had their practice squad in... Brooks wouldn't run down the throat of a good defense like he did in this game, sadly. OU still probably would have won, but it would have been tougher if they had a full roster.
Kennedy Brooks has 3 - 1000 yard plus seasons and will join elite company at OU. Who will be the starting RB at Oklahoma in the upcoming season? I like Marcus Majors, but he's no Kennedy Brooks....
You see the defensive competence? See??! Also, you know who Kennedy Brooks reminds me of, with that "slow" running style and the "patience"? Emmitt Smith.
Watching this and can't help but to think WHAT IF.... 13 never followed Mule Shoe to LA? would his college career have ended up any different than it has gone? I can't help but think yes to those questions. A college career wasted on trusting a slithery man in Mule Shoe. Somewhere there is a reality where 13 stayed in Norman.
@@HarpsDad22 Exactly. There have been more signs pointing towards him staying than leaving. I just can’t understand how people interpreted his comments after the game to mean he’s leaving. But OU has a history of great QBs before Lincoln came around.
This will be my only post, Caleb could have left Oklahoma with a statue of him standing outside the stadium. What he did during the Texas game was legendary but in my opinion he went for money not necessarily to play for Lincoln. The guy could have been the best qb to play at OU even better than Sam Bradford. The NIL and transfer rules has to change. This year I thought OU would have the defense they needed to compete for a championship and was the reason I started to watch them again after three years of not watching them. It is not that I am a bandwagon fan it is more to do with heartbreak and literally my health.
