Generally BMW's are a better value proposition if you can do your own wrenching, as well as having a good Independent BMW mechanic to do the things you can't or don't want to do. Thanks to your videos I went with a 2020 X5 B58 without air suspension, and just the premium package and parking assistance package. I basically wanted to keep it simple. Love your channel and your work thank you!!

I agree. If you buy a quality second hand car for the greatly depreciated value, then the difference between the money you paid and the money the first owner paid goes a long way in repair and maintainance. Combine that with expert reviews of second hand vehicles like this report, can result in a finacial gain.

Great video Mark. Question for you: what is the best overall sports car, Toyota Supra with the B58 engine or the Nissan Z?
@ECPP
@ECPP 2 месяца назад
Hi Mark, time will tell on the quality, by most Z engines have been pretty solid and the worst thing Nissan ever did was go with the CvT in other models, hence the reputation. With that said, now that the Supra is available in both the amazing ZF auto AND manual, the Supra, is my pick, by a long shot.

Im at 15 years on my 335d with the M57 diesel. Had to do a wheel bearing this month but fairly inexpensive to keep going. Did the brakes/rotors myself for $450 in parts last year. Probably drive it until the engine fails. Possibly go another 10 years.

Great advice Thomas and I agree 100 percent. Usually the simpler the spec, the better you are for long-term ownership as all parts fail and this usually means pricey bits on a pricey luxury brand. Recalls and bulletins are a must to follow up on and while some of these items may be listed on a Carafe, a person really should go to NHTSA and run the vin for a summary of issues and complaints on your vehicle of choice.

How complicate is the overall layout of the vehicle both interior and exterior? The more clutter and compact the engine bay and inteior, the more of a nightmare to work on in the long run and a very costly repair bill as an added insult to the car owner. Is like investing into a stock that has super sketchy gain in return. Buy and sell....with cars its like buy and the stock just keep plummeting in value the minute you out your money into it.

As much as i like the porsche 911, they are in fact probably the most true sports car and have decent reliability i have been fortunate enough to drive a few of these almost hopped into one in 2015 but the maintenance schedule and parts scarred me out of buying one, so i bought another Bimmer i know there are some isssues with BMW but when it comes to the German brands i find that Benz is out of touch with there parts and service, and Audi is just a beefed up VW that still reverses engineered with the timming chain at the back of the motor gaurenteed to fail, have seen 3 friend buy an s5 when they were realeased each one had the same issue lsading to catastrophic engine failure that resulted in a complete loss
