I don’t share your love for old cars and Not only doing everything to get them back on the road, but also honouring those cars and keeping its history alive. But… having said that, I must say I do have endless admiration for people like you who do just that. My hat off to you with a deep bow, Respect!! I have always been like Out with the Old, In with the New, but in the last 10+ years with the Quality of cars going down the drain like Nobody’s business, and after just having bought our 5th car in 19 years, 3 of which in just the last 6 years, this is becoming more and more frustrating, so there is definitely a Lot to say about your philosophy!!

Thanks. We all have our interests and that’s fine. Certainly wouldn’t change mine and wouldn’t expect anyone to change theirs either. The Fiesta is a great car and so easy to drive without (my opinion) the annoying distractions of beeps and touchscreens. Running costs will shortly be very low, with just a little maintenance and £100 insurance as it will be of course tax and MOT exempt. Visibility is also better than in modern cars but that’s where things can become an issue. As that visibility obviously is at the cost of safety. For me, the cars, and driving them, is my hobby. My way of being happy. I guess most hobbies cost… Thanks for your comment.

I think you (or whoever did the metalwork!) have done a great job here. It's great to be able to bring the car up to the best possible condition. I also agree with you about maybe selling one day if circumstances dictate, rather than letting it deteriorate. Great video, as always! 👍

Thanks. I had the work done by someone as I know my limits… which are many. Trying to not over restore but preserve history.

I'm thrilled for you Paul, I can see how excited you are and rightfully so, the man who repaired the car did an excellent job. I do love older Fiesta's, I actually rented one just like it when we got married in 79, they are so simple, and kinda cute. Take Care and Enjoy...

Thanks. They are real simple and can see why they were popular school cars. I don’t think I hide my excitement well and suggest it highlights the Fiesta would be one of the last cars I ever sell.

Hi Paul, I've missed your last few uploads so I'm just catching up. I have to say that the Popular Plus has got to be my favourite car of the semi retirement home for cars, tied with the MG Metro. I personally think that you've made the right decision regarding the repair, it's a no brainer in my opinion. I'm in the same position now with my car, my wing is rippled with a few minor dints in it, but it's the original and I need to find a metalworker who can get the best out of it. Like any old car, parts are not being made for them anymore so we have to preserve as much as we can going forward.

Agree. We are trying our best to keep them on the road. Remind me, what car do you have?

Great video & totally agree with your ethos. Perfect sympathetic repairs which have avoided losing original paint, from blending panels. The way you have improved & preserved the Fiesta, it must be the best possible left in the U.K., if not Europe. I am having similar repairs to my MX5 mk1, luckily MX5’s are as common as muck so all part repair panels are fully available, so I can keep as much original paint as possible

Thanks. I would have been daft to replace the whole wing when only a little piece at the bottom needed replacement. MX5 Mk1 must be getting more rare now? Would love one. That short gear lever that apparently is more like a flick switch. Awesome.

Perfect repairs and definitely the right thing to do. Haha you could have been talking about me parting with my Maverick last year, not that it needed much doing but it had definitely become too difficult for me to work on being so heavy. Hopefully it has gone to a good owner, no idea as I don’t want to know deliberately if that makes sense.

Thanks. Yes I think I could have been talking about many people as I know a few who have done it. I would definitely sell if I thought it best for the car.
