Ikr!!! Their English names for their cubes aren't just the romanized version of Mandarin and I believe they are the only brand that does this nowadays. But sadly for their upcoming 5×5 it looks like they just name it Hong(鴻) which is like a more poetic way of saying "great" or "grand", which I guess is understandable since naming a product like Majesty or Magnificent is quite laughable😂
@@derrick_raspberry You are really a pro cuber! About the Hong 5x5, we have studied for a long time but have not found a single word that can accurately express the meaning of the Chinese character "鸿". Therefore, we have to directly use the pinyin "Hong" to name it.😂
Now with Moyu going crazy with prices and Gan making very minor changes to their cubes and charging the same amount of money I'm really hoping for QiYi, Dayan and Diansheng to show some effort.
It seems like Phil only know these companies as a whole, actually there are lots of personnel changes during recent years. Which has significant influence on product plan of these companies. If you can have a chance to visit China in the future, welcome to Chenghai to know more about us😂 BTW, thanks for mentioning us, we do still developing new product, but as a new company, we have taken much effort to deal with production stuff, so the new product development haven't goes smoothly as our expectation, but hope next year you can see it and hope it will be more competitive than before😊
Honestly, I'm glad you brought up MoreTry, because I'm one of the few people who bought the Snap off your recommendation, and all this time later it's still one of my favorite cubes to just casually use. Hopefully they can come out with something new soon!
Gan is making a Megaminx v2. It will hopefully come out very soon. My wishlist is one flagship moyu 3x3 with a new dual adjustment system, a really good Gan 15, Gan 5x5, Gan 4x4, Gan sq1, Tornado V4 and the Gan Megaminx
YES THE FANGSHI!!! that was my most recent main once upon a time. (getting back into cubing) i love the illusion aspect. simply a V2 (edit: V3 didnt know there was a V2) with magnets would be very appreciated.
I couldn't agree more about almost everything you said! One thing I would like from flagship cube companies is the option to buy different colors like black caps or different shades of colors for colorblind people. Those replacement caps could come UV coated and magnetized if needed! Also, one thing I would love from you is to have free shipping to Canada even if it has to be more expensive. Canadian stores have a very limited selection of items and you are the ones I prefer for US stores for your content and honesty, so I would like to encourage you more by buying from your store, only thing is I am a cheap ass dude, and dont want to pay for shipping. Love your videos, stay as you are!
right so I have an idea which you could potentially do at the cubicle, so you gather people of similar cubing ability and you play a drinking game whereby the winner/person who solves the puzzle first has to take a shot of... something... to make it interesting you could use a bunch of strange and uncanny cubes and ye i think it would be a really funny video.
I want to see moyu and gan to start making non wca puzzles as they have the money to run a big non wca branch and it would add more competition to fto and other non wca puzzles
@@TesseractCubing no the mgc sucks in most ways a puzzle can suck. it needs modding to be usable which a puzzle shouldn't need in 2024. and it breaks all the time, i think ive broken 7 or 8 mgc squans.
I agree with basically everything but I want Dayan to re release the tengyun V1, because it’s the best cube for 3bld and it’s not available.. so they could make a lot of money by still selling it
A dollar is hard to come by for a lot of people, especially younger cubers, and many (but not all) of the puzzles coming out are going up in price substantially *coughmoyucough*. As an elderly 30-something cuber who can afford whatever cubes I want I don't buy something on the pricier side unless it's a game changer. BUT. I can happily justify spending $15ish at the drop of a hat. I think most of the manufacturers need to ground themselves with a solid high-performing budget cube and build from there. The RS3M 2020 was a great example when it came out and Dayan has done a great job with the Guhong Pro. Let's see a Tornado Lite with no magnet adjustment. Let's see a 356M that is sub $20. An MG C 3M with that same turning feel of the 4x4. And, im looking at you Moyu, do ONE of them.
when you asked about the company I wanna see realese a cube in that hasnt realesed a cube in a long time I immidiately thought about fangshi, gues I am not the only one that liked shuangres back in the days😅
Imagine that fan or some other company just commented on this video and said something like “Noted” and then took your advice. Kinda hope Moyu does, because I love there cubes but now they only do 3x3’s. Honestly, I’ve been getting kinda good at 2x2, and I would love to see the Gan 2x2 get some competition, ever if it is out of Moyu’s comfort zone.
QiYi: magnetic stickerless FTO - because they already have a Rex Cube which is the base for DIY FTOs Gan: square-1, 4x4, 5x5, and an obviously better 3x3 flagship Diansheng: core magnetized 4x4 and 5x5, to push everyone else to do this Moyu: stop the 3x3 diarrhea, release only the best cubes and brush up those cube names to make them easy to recognize and classify, new 4x4 and 5x5 Everyone: square-1! And a properly magnetized one, don't do the same as MGC please Everyone: stop the UV coating, it's not so fun anymore and the coating chipping issues are real. Just give us regular glossy cubes back, and work on the molding quality to reduce the sink marks.
Gan: >Gan 12/ 5x5/ square-1 MoYu: one word, STOP QiYi: More Yj: Better 3x3/ Social Media Diansheng: Get Good Dayan: Flagship Cube/ Social Rubik’s: Recognition Cubicle: Benjamin Plushy 🤩
17:10 ShuangRen V3, GuoGuan. Man I consider myself a boomer in the cubing community (Started off with non-magnetic YJ, witnessed the magnetic revolutuion) and I still have never heard of these
11:19 "The strat with 3x3 is to start basic" - THIS. What I DON'T LIKE about modern 3x3s is how overengineered they feel. I love the Guhong V4, new RS3Ms, and Tornado V3 because they are just straightforward, good cubes. No 1296 magnet settings, no destroying and modifying the whole cube to make it good (Looking at you WRM V9), no box/robot/watch/dating guide included, just a nice cube that feels smooth and solid. At least for me, all I want is a solid, clean feeling cube that will last and not be gimmicky. More features =/= better. Also 4x4 and 5x5 hardware hasn't significantly improved for a few years. Please stop teasing new cubes and actually drop them manufacturers 🙏
Why the v9? Its just feels the best with those edge magnets. But yeah, if they would release a ball core non edgr magnet version, that would be more popular. With the v11, they better be making those in 2 different cube. Yes, than there would be like 12 different v9, but... Dont they want to make good cube for everybody? (Yes, v11, cuz the super weilong is technically the v10)
11:26 so true they probably tried to do that with the yulong v2 but that was a while ago, so they should definitely make a newer budget cube without many features but just a good overall design, that can compete with the rs3m, cause if they put enough effort i think they could
I saw a teaser design with an XMT v3 smart cube. It’s been several months since I’ve seen it but I was excited for it. It’s quite sad that in the week since you recorded this video and released it, only 4 days into January that Moyu has already released their first cube of the year. On the bright side perhaps we can be thankful that this was a single iteration of an already released cube. As opposed to an entire new series.
Hot take: there is no need for a tornado v4 yet, the v3 is still one of the best cubes in the market, its the one with the most features and its still being compared to cubes like the Weilong V10
A Benmajin plushie is long overdue imo. I love the stuff you were saying and I'd be happy to see at least some of these suggestions come to life. And please MoYu stop being dummb with the packaging and include a blank center cap instead of useless accessories.
what about the yuxin ?? the yuxin little magic 3x3 cube had like huge potential but with some silly flaws and moderate feeling... they should try more in the field of budget 3x3s and other budget puzzles...
Does anyone else hate the sound of dry sharpie on paper? I think it would be better if you used a whiteboard. To me it sounds like nails on a chalkboard (I know this is a small complaint, this is a great vid)
I don't understand that "flagship" thing about Dayan. What is wrong with the Guhong pro? It doesn't have adjustable magnets, nor spring settings, ... but, why do you need them? Once the cube is set up you no longer need those things. If the cube is good as it is you don't need those gimmicks, no need to cost $20-$30 or $90
I want Cyclone Boys to improve the Metallic Cubes; keep it shiny for longer. Mine hasn't survived a year. It's losing its paint job. Meanwhile my Tornado V2 only has its logo removed. The colors are still solid over these two years.
I personally think that if your cube is UV coated, or has any other PVC coating, logos should be fine in blind events as it’s literally under the coating and you cant feel it.
You said in the video that the 4x4 and 5x5 market is very underdeveloped, but I don't see you guys mentioning the brand new VinCube 4x4M and the X-Man Hong 5x5M, they both have UV coated finishes too if you're wondering. What's up with that? Are you guys just purposefully ignoring those or they just haven't sent you the cubes yet?
I think with cubing companies we finally have good hardware with every event but side events often take a lot of work to make them good. You don’t even need to make a new puzzle just do what Moyu did with the v9, to fix mistakes with the v9 they just made a special edition which fixes a lot of the problems with the v9.
I signed up for my first rubix cube competition today and then realized that it's sponsored by the cubicle and I was wondering if you are going to be there (it's this month)
Yeah, they will probably make one more of the v11 (v10 was technically the super weilong) Because some people liked it with ball core, but no edge magnet, some loved it with the edge magnet. So they would have to make these 2, then a magnetic maglev, then a magnetic spring. Some people questioning the maglev also, so they use a spring with ball core with no edge magnet, sooo... They should make then a matching ball core all magnet, but spring version.. So 6. Only the weilong v11... Then the rs3mv6, actually, bring in the edge magnet, so at least 4 of them, and if they make a super weilong v2, (a v12, if the v11 will come before, in that case the super weilong v2 will be the v11, and te wrm will be the v12), there would be at least 2 of those super weilong v2, then if they make mf3x any yf3 something.... Sooo yeeeaaahh
Should i get the gan 12 (uv), guhong pro, wrm v9 or rs3 v5? I have the tv3 (yoo cube deluxe but the lube isn‘t that strong anymore) and just want to try something new that feels a bit different. Btw love ur Vids❤
as someone who owns all of these cubes, they all have their own strengths. if you want to move to a cube more flexible, the wrmv9 is definitely a great pick, and if you want something that has comparable stability to the tv3, the rs3v5 is great. the gan 12 and guhong pro are both middle grounds between stable and flexible, but the guhong pro feels a bit more solid while the gan 12 feels a bit more airy and soft.
