This has been so helpful, we’ve been looking into adoption over a year and there’s so little information about it in the uk we’ve got our initial visit in a weeks time!

Thanks for posting your videos, they have been very informative and useful to us. The process for my wife and I has taken much longer than it did for you guys but we started our introductions with our 1 year old this week and it has been well worth the wait. There have been a lot of highs and lows along the way from when we started the process but this week has been an amazing experience and well worth it. We cannot wait for the next steps of our journey in being parents to our new son and just enjoying each day as it comes.

I look forward to adopting when I grow up. I do not plan to change my mind, I never will. I love kids and I am good at adjusting with kids that aren’t familiar with me.

Great starter video. We've just completed stage 1 and are about to start stage 2. So much reading to do which my partner struggles with so being able to direct him to videos will make our journey so much easier:)

I am not sure if this has been covered, but why not an older kid? Babies/toddlers are so wonderful. I just feel older kids are looked over, and left to live in a foster home until they are old enough to move out. I am glad you are bringing this up, and making videos. Please keep making them.

I think we mention this within one of our videos. Our personal choice was to experience as much of parenthood as we could and to support our newest additions from a young age as we had not previously been parents. I then mentioned that we would look in to adopting older children as we and our children grow. However, you are sadly right and there are so many older children who will remain in long term foster care. Luckily, there are some amazing foster carers out there to provide wonderful stable homes for these littles :)

I always wanted two of our own and too adopt two. As it turns out we have only had one in 14 years. We started looking at adoption but there so much mis-matched information out there.

Cans you do a video on how much it costs to adopt in the uk and a video about how you told people you were adopting and what there reactions were? Thank you for doing this channel ❤️
@Aimeevlog
@Aimeevlog 5 лет назад
Thanks for the question. I can indeed add this to my list! Adopting in the UK has very little costing applied to the adopters, other than the occasional travel costs and of course the costs of preparing for a child with clothes and furniture etc.

Aimee vlog amazing thank you! We are thinking about adoption so these videos are so helpful! Worried about negative reactions from our family and friends though, which is why I would love to hear your story’s of how people reacted to your adoption choice x

Aimee vlog also I have a another question sorry! Can you change the first name of the child? Like if they are a baby/toddler? X
@Aimeevlog
@Aimeevlog 5 лет назад
Davina Challis thanks for the question. Our agency leant towards not changing names wherever possible but this is ultimately your choice when filing the application for adoption.

Thanks for this video. We've wanted to adopt for a long time, but when we asked for meetings with various home visits to talk more in depth about the process, they basically told us "No we won't take you on because XYZ" After speaking to another agency who we hadn't seen, they explained the possible reasons behind the No's and suggested they were more a "Not right now" because we have 3 birth children under 8. I'd love to ask your opinion on a few things but not on a public forum. Would you mind? Emma x

Emma Beal Hi, I hate hearing stories that have been so negative and door closing for people! But so pleased that another agency could shed a different perspective 💚 are you on Instagram?...if so, you can direct message me over there (aimeevlog). Or email at aimeevlog@outlook.com

Hi Aimee, Do you know if it happens that prospective adopters change their mind in the middle in the process and walk away? What happens then, do they get any fine or do they get add.time to think about their decision?
@Aimeevlog
@Aimeevlog 3 года назад
Hi Kristina, Our agency mentioned being able to take a break. So at a certain point you can take a 6-12 month break if there are things you need to do or consider. If you walk away and that's the best option, so be it. I believe all it affects is having to start from scratch should you ever wish to start again.

sister wood I would love to, but when I talk about wanting to adopt I mean in the future. Unfortunately I am not in the position right now to give a baby everything they need as I am still doing my nurse training and am currently living at my mums house. I hope he/ she finds the best home!

Can you adopt newborn babies in UK?
@Aimeevlog
@Aimeevlog 5 лет назад
Love Nurtures not traditional adoption I don’t think. From birth is usually foster to adopt as a placement order is needed for adoption and can’t be granted until around 6 months old plus.

First time today I met your channel. You are great. I am adopted so I can understand many things in depth. I hope I will find the welcome video that you made for your child here in your channel. If you didn't upload it, please, do so, I will be very moved, and it would be a lesson also. Take care and all the best to you and your family!

Do you need a degree to adopt a child or is it not necessary?
@Aimeevlog
@Aimeevlog 5 лет назад
Mahfuz Ahmed you don’t officially need any qualifications to adopt at all. It’s more experience of caring for children that is desired 😊

@@Aimeevlog thanks for your reply, I am 16 years old and want to adopt when I'm 25 and have my own house, will I get paid when looking after the child because I won't be able to go work because there may not be anyone home too look after the child, or is there any benifits that I could get?
@Aimeevlog
@Aimeevlog 5 лет назад
It's great that you have a plan and are already trying to prepare yourself where you can! It would depend on whether you are hoping to foster, adopt or foster to adopt. These all vary and generally, traditional adoption gives an income from adoption leave if you are in employment when the child is placed with you. Fostering is employment in its own right and therefore you are paid. Foster to adopt, generally you are also paid a fostering allowance during this time.
