Nice clever intro. Quite a crew aboard.that 54 :-). A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to view the Amel 64 at the Southampton boat show, all very similar to your 54. After owning a 54 you certainly wouldn’t get lost on the 64. I guess as the saying goes if it isn’t broke don't fix it and nothing in Amels design is broke. Not had the opportunity to check out the latest flagship 60 but I would hazard a guess its still a space you’d recognise. Anyhow, Amel 54, good boat, good choice and hope you have a lot of good sailing too. Thanks for the video, a nice 10 minute escape from a quarantined UK. Liked and Subscribed.

The Amel 54 is a truly great boat. About the only one I'd sell my boat to change to. Yours is really well outfitted. Those water tight doors. Of course you will never need them.... but.... the most dangerous incidents I've heard of (after fire, losing the mast, anchor dragging) is being pooped from behind. Those are likely the boats that disappear without a trace. Just keeping those doors closed when there's a following sea or mixed conditions could save everything. Of course the raised center cockpit makes this even less likely. And the water intake manifold instead of thru hulls is brilliant. (My boat has 12)

Amel yachts have always been a fav of mine since watching SV Delos, its nice to seem some improvements were made by Amel on this vessel, I cant say Iid buy anything else when I finally decide to pull the pin. Enjoying the videos, getting better with each one! sub'd

You guys have one top of the line sailboats built and a dream of many sailors, like myself but way out of my budget, And that size! Those stainless lifelines say a lot about Amel boats. All the high amp items are relative because of the battery banks and because the engine is usually running when thusters and wnidlass ars used. Wiring gage is what counts then. You might want to consider ferrying 787s to storage, or returned to/from lease, for cash of course. Me, time for me to watch airplanes flying anovs from my boat. Congrats and fair winds.

We have found it really quite comfortable for two couples, or you can even have a four people /family in the front and there is still ample room to move around and for storage.

I am new to your channel and just subscribed. You have a beautiful boat. Too bad all boat builders are not as proud as the Amel builder. Have you always preferred the mono hull or would you consider the a catamaran? Safe sailing 🤗
Hi Jerry! Thank you, we appreciate your kind words! We enjoy catamarans as well, but we wanted an Amel 54 for it’s safe design and comforts! So far we have been happy with Slylark!
Amels are 220v. However, a lot of our American appliances work like laptops or iPhones since those are dual, and we are just careful and buy the appropriate hair dryer or blender when we need something for skylark.
@@joeldelamirande5792 they are pretty well built and they still up to date building them super robust and very good quality, that’s the reason they have a pretty good resale value. A new 50 well equipped would be over a $1 million and a new 60 way over $2 million
with the state of affairs in the aviation industry, i am curious if you plan to convert to full time livaboards, and do you have the means to do so? or is there a plan to return to flying? thanks for the videos. i hope to one day fully retire on a sail boat :D
Thank you! Planning too much in these times is a difficult thing to do 🤣 however, we have been full time live a boards on Skylark for the past year and could continue to for a while longer. Hey there just subscribed to your channel and love the Amel you are sailing on classic yacht really safe and a beauty to behold. Feel free to pull into Cape Town. If I may make a constructive critique, when you are arms length from your camera , a GoPro, I would imagine the sound becomes sketchy. Maybe a better Mike would be worth considering. Apart from the sound video is great and look forward to watching more vids from you guys. Really enjoy the technical stuff must be the pilots in you 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! The sound quality we are going to work on improving. Unfortunately our mic stopped working as we began filming and it was super intermittent so we took it off. We are going to buy new equipment soon. I promise the sound will get better before we reach Cape Town! 🤣😀
