As an Australian male 'Skip' (stereotypical white middle class background), who grew-up in regional/country Australia, but then moved the city (firstly Melbourne, and now Adelaide). I always find it interesting listening/watching podcasts from other Australians with different cultural backgrounds discussing their experiences as an Australian so I enjoyed this podcast very much.

Love to hear that you enjoyed this episode, Chris! It's also interesting for us, as children of immigrants, but also "Australian" (since we're born and raised here), that you find our experience interesting!

Loved the ep! I also had that same experience in primary school struggling to understand why I can't say "that" as "dat", "brother" as "bruva" and "three" as "free". I still can't get it right 🤣

It’s a tricky thing, for both children and adults! 🥲

Thanks for this, as a Korean American, learned so much about what it's like to be Asian Australian! (41:38 is called subtle racism by the way:))

I agree with the Chinese girl I'm Korean American & I was born in South Korea but came to the states when I was about 3yrs old so I'm 1st generation but if you were born in Australia & your parents immigrated they would be considered 1st generation but bc you were born in Australia your NOT 1st generation, sorry.

In New Zealand when we moved from other countries our kids would be first generation as they were first generation born in NZ. That's just how it is there.
