At first I thought you were talking about me, hahaha! I can be a wench sometimes! 😉 And that is one of our many future plans, so hope it will come in handy then. Great setup! I just recently purchased a 2012 Chalet triple slide. 1300 mile return trip with 2021 3500 Ram DRW Laramie with torklift upper stable loads. Road really well through mountains of Arizona, New Mexico with cross winds at times of 30 mph. Camper was empty. dry weight shows 4200 on sticker. Will weight truck and camper loaded soon. Really enjoy your videos. Safe travels.

Hi William, thanks for watching. I've never seen a Chalet in person - I hear they are quite nice! So glad to hear your 3500 was doing the job. Honestly, our 3500 did fine with our Cascade but we were closer to the upper limits before going full-time hence the reason for the monster rig. Have a great time with your new camper!

I'm looking at getting a RAM 5500, and adding a flatbed for a camper. I really like the design of the SHERPTEK. I like that they also offer so many different services for setting up a truck for carrying campers. Thank you for sharing. You have one sharp looking rig.

Hi Walter. Glad you stopped by to check it out. Sherptek in my opinion had the best combination of functionality and style. And with larger truck campers, the "go big or go home" philosophy rings true! If youre serious about this, I'd recommend contacting Sherptek for at least a pricelist. Hope you enjoy your search!

Hi Johnny B. Thanks for watching! I do have a full feature breakdown on our website at www.joslynjourney.com/e47/ but not price by feature. The rig was a little over $50k but that was in 2020. Go to sherptek.com/contact and ask for the latest pricelist. It's better to get the info directly and there may be more options now as well! They will also be able to give you an idea on timing since I heard they were booked pretty far out. Hope this helps!

I put Kelderman full air on my 2021 front and rear. I can raise and lower each coener from inside the cascade.
@TheJoslynJourney
@TheJoslynJourney 2 года назад
Hi Land. What do you use balancing all 4 sides for? And why did you choose to put the controls in your camper? We originally thought we would be able to lean slightly when dumping but it wasnt really necessary. We tend to lower the airbags when we are parked to reduce the sway in the camper (when camper stays on the truck overnight). So curious about your setup...
@landbarron1420
@landbarron1420 2 года назад
@@TheJoslynJourney I have a full Kelderman air suspension installed. All the leaf springs in the back and coils in the front were removed. In the back is a 4 link suspension with 2 air bags per side. Up front it has a single air bag per side. Empty it rides like a half ton, very comfortable. I also had twin compressors and dual air tanks installed with there 3M controller. The controller is blue tooth so I can control it from inside the cascade. I cam also run air tools. I have 3 pre set ride heights. Low, for loading/unloading, medium is normal ride height, and high if I have to go over something. Hitting 1 button will change these heights. I can also raise or lower the front and rear independently or each corner to level the camper. Not a cheap system but extremely rugged and heavy duty.

What keeps the camper from moving side to side feeling when you hit a bump or turning etc! I am thinking expensive liquid springs!
@TheJoslynJourney
@TheJoslynJourney 8 месяцев назад
That's a great question! When we had our camper on our Ram3500, there was a LOT of swaying. Gary calls me "nervous Nelly", so take my comments with a grain of salt... I *HATED* getting off off-ramps, any small hills etc. - I just thought it felt horribly unstable. Going to the 5500 helped that a TON since the truck is wider which adds a lot more stability. We also beefed it up by replacing the OEM swaybar with a Hellwig Swaybar. It was night and day for me. I hold the "oh sh*t handle" much less now! 😬 The trade-off is that you will have a harsher ride. We have air bags to help but I hear Liquid Springs does a lot. I love the idea of being able to self-level (our air bags allow a *little* but not as much as I'd like for leveling). We also tried getting a quote but they wouldn't work with us because of our upfitting, which was disappointing (we were talking about installing this year and we already have the back end completed by Sherptek). And honestly, I was questioning the cost-value part. It would be cool but guess I'd have to drive one with and without for a better feel.

My dream rig ! One question- why RAM over Ford and what’s the ride like (loaded and unloaded) and did you consider liquid spring suspension? (Not sure they do 550?)
@TheJoslynJourney
@TheJoslynJourney Год назад
Hi Dave! We absolutely love it - it's our dream rig as well! Well, Ram simply because Gary was a Mopar guy through and through. We had owned a 1500 and 3500 dually before, so we're used to the setup. It's a decent ride loaded but can be really rough unloaded. We were in the Porcupine mountains and they had some rough roads that I equated to a wooden rollercoaster (unloaded). We've talked about alternate suspension upgrades but still wondering whether we may try super singles so we will wait to do anything until we get it west a bit more. Hope this helps!

I'm honestly not sure. In general, the advantage of our rig is that you can take the camper on and off as needed. I would *assume* if you tried to insure it as one unit, it would not be allowed to come off. But that's just my guess.

Hi John. Since we purchased everything before all of these material shortages, the numbers I have are likely not valid. The Ram 5500 was a bit over 70K equipped but we had an employee discount which you may not have. The Sherptek bed started around $10K ish pre-COVID and went up from there based upon options (we obviously added a TON of aftermarket items). Our build was $50K ish with all of our bells and whistles). The more you add, the more it costs. Also, the less you put on the more reasonable. Since we're full-timing it, we chose the full-featured option. The best bet for pricing is to ask for a pricelist at sherptek.com/contact to get the best info. Hope this helps!

Oh yeah. The ride. I will say it's pretty rough unloaded. But the airbags Sherptek installed do make it better. We'll bump those up fairly high to make the ride more reasonable. @TheJoslynJourney

Hi Rigo... we would LOVE to have both super singles and liquid suspension on our rig. Unfortunately, I think the costs to upgrade these are way out of our price range. The super singles would require fender flares and a new bumper in addition to the upgrade. If we installed the liquid suspension, we heard at the rally that we'd have to lose one of fuel tanks. So, unless something dramatic happens, we will be sticking to our current configuration.
