For the last few months, we have been running a money-making side hustle in our backyard - Growing Pumpkins! 🎃

What you have there is a Hugelkultur Raised Bed Garden. They are a brilliant way to grow veges on and its already built for you.

I'm not entirely sure what that white flowering weed is, but in the SE USA have something very similar (it might actually be the same plant) and its called wild yarrow. Edit: from a quick google search it looks like white yarrow is actually native to New Zealand as well.

Oh yeh for sure, we had some pumpkin soup the other night but that was just a crown haha. Need to start eating the others!

Why do people buy pumpkins in your area? In my area it is for halloween and fall decorating and not for eating. Do they eat them there?

We sure do 😁 Halloween isn’t huge here in New Zealand, we don’t really see pumpkins for carving here just for eating

It’s carrot weed. Pain in the butt. Spreads like wild fire. Love the smaller bright orange onion shaped pumpkin. Cute!

@@AdventuresWithRosy They are determined that’s for sure. They have a tap root aye? Any brush killer will kill carrot weed without killing the grass. It’s usually only sold in big amounts, so perhaps ask to buy a small amount off a local farming/lifestyle block fb page 🤷🏼‍♀️
