That green on your copper fittings is called verdigris. It is a toxic substance that forms when copper oxidises. Can cause irritation to skin and eyes, nausea and anemia if ingested. Can cause organ damage after long or repeated exposure.

Was looking for this comment, they say it so casually “is it poisonous”. Technically yes and with Lenny’s issues I’d be careful.
@multitablez7825

it's not toxic. it may give a bit of extra copper in their water supply, but its not harmful in anyway.

It's actually not though, a 2-minute check on wiki says that the pigment "verdigris" and the greenish color that forms when cooper oxydizes are not the same thing. Only the pigment is toxic.

Great video! I have some advice that can pay dividends in the future. I see that you have inflatable life straps on the boys and that is cool. My advice is that in a safe environment, like at the beach, have them jump overboard and try them. Yes, you need to replace the CO2 cartridge's after but it gives the boys a sense of how they work, how it's like to swim with them inflated, and how everything will be fine when they inflate. I spend alot of time in canoes. When my two boys were quite young we took them out in the canoe and, in about 10 feet of water, practiced flipping the canoe. They had a blast, learned the canoe wont actually sink, and could experience what it was like to have a canoe flip on them. Safe practice leads to less panic during a real emergency.

The interior of the boat looks simultaneously totally bonkers and extremely homely and familiar without ever having seen anything like it. Fantastic. Also can't wait to see you sailing along stunning coastlines again, it seems like forever since those kinds of episodes, I reckon a lot of us will feel that breath of fresh air slap us in the face through the screen. I love the time warp snap! The irony is hysterical! Your new home is gorgeous, a little more busy than I expected for Riley’s minimalist nature. The copper accents and trims can become toxic as the patina grows. Verdigras is the term that refers to this evolution, and some of the toxins that can result from it. Wishing your family all the best, and looking forward to seeing your adventures!

About the induction kichen - The thing about inuction noise is that it does not come from the stove istelf. The Pot is what makes the noise. The better conductivity of the pot (less energy los during transfer from the stove to the pot) The les noise the pot will make and will be more efficient. In homes people usually dont care that much about efficiency but in your case you could probably save a little power buy buying the best possible pots for the stove.

I’m so incredibly excited to have you guys taking us on new adventures in your gorgeous home. I have been severely missing seeing Elayna diving, Lenny swimming in the deep blue, and Riley fishing and spearing. I’m so excited to see how Darwin begins to explore alongside you all. I was wondering during this tour if we would go over the outer hulls (I’m not sure if that’s what they’re called, I’m not a boat person, I’m just here for the adventure especially while parenting) but as I know you guys usually have crew plus a nanny on board I was curious if the plan was still having those mini bedrooms for extra guests and crew. Nonetheless, I am so in love with all of the features of the boat and while it was exciting being brought along for the build I am STOKED for the adventures you all will get up to now being finally home.

Love your new boat, congrats! And yes, I would not go without induction ever again. It’s fast and also safer with spills and especially with small kids around, as the stove top itself does not burn your hands!

This episode has been the most rewarding one as of yet. I now understand what it is you have and what is required. Bloody brilliant. All my worries have been put to rest. I look forward to the next venture.

I LOVE al the different colors and wallpapers that add texture to your floating home. Unlike any other floating home out there. You truly made it reflect your wanting to be out in the elements. So peaceful, as if you are wrapped in nature.🥰

Oxidised copper isn’t great if ingested, specially not for the liver. Just lightly wire brush/metal Brillo it a little if it’s building up and wipe area clean. The copper most likely won’t green for ages it’ll just be a dull brown. The green you see on it at the moment at the back of the tap is probably where the excess flux from soldering drip down and wasn’t wiped away properly and it’s oxidised the copper faster. Hence why it looks so green already.

That plumbing looks so tacky I am surprised rapido was willing to put their name to it. Am sure VERY few if any other people would take that as an option on a new build.

Guys, thanks for the tour! Riley, your last comment at the end of the video... sailing faster than wind speed. My eyes got all watery. The holy grail. I'm also stoked to hear that the boat is so comfortable in strong winds with the auto pilot. Have a safe and fantastic 2024.

What are you going to suggest for couples thinking about buying this boat? The sail plan is too much (too big/too heavy/too strong/dangerous) for an experienced couple; let alone a less experienced couple or couple with youngsters. Even an experienced couple who are in top shape like yourself and Elaina, can't handle this sail plan without crew - as seen on shakedown. My hope is that the boatyard told you as much in advance. Unless you plan to sail with a crew forever, what plans are ahead to make this new boat manageable and safe? Your two videos sailing it tell me that these realities haven't sunk in 100%. Your boat is no "family performance catamaran alternative". It's a terrific "crewed racer", but your 60 is a "crewed racer" and you want to be transparent to explain as much - to keep viewers and yourselves safe. Great video - as ever!

It will be a challenge in heavy weather for even experienced sailors. I think they are aware of that and are bringing on more crew to help. The weather can't be projected very far out sometimes and can sneak up on you. They might also be able to fly Alayna and their sons on really rough, long passages (and that would give more room for seasoned sailors)

@@lilygirl2719 Adding crew means (a lot of) logistics - that wouldn't be necessary with a boat designed for a couple to manage. Crew get sick & sea sick also, they miss their flight, they get stuck in traffic, need a place to R&R, a bathroom, etc. Juggling that many balls is a stress even when it works, and that boat isn't set up for two or three full-time crew. It looks unnavigatable, which means there will come a time in the not too distant future when it becomes unsafe and a responsible captain steps in to forbid tragedy. Consider the Mayflower: In 1620, its Captain took over the ship for the first time from his father - and he killed half of his passengers and crew by making the mistake of starting again after a setback forced them to return to port. Passengers got to Plymouth in full winter (November 21st) with no safe harbour, so 45 passengers perished by this Captain's single wrong decision. That 60 is a hell of a sailboat no doubt, but it can only sail with crew and with all conditions needed for safe arrival. Shimmying up the rigging in heavy weather can be fatal, so plan to never do it again.

@@EdwardTilley I agree. It is really too dangerous for anyone but seasoned sailors who know how to sail a racing sailboat.

This is the comment of someone who is not an SVL mafia member. You’re 100% correct but you forgot to mention that someone has to look after 2 small children who can’t swim. This boat requires a crew of at least 1 more likely 2 and where are you going to sleep them it only has 2 cabins and putting people in the pods is not a viable solution by any means. A very poor choice as I see it for a family. Have suggested a HH55 or other similar boat would be a far better choice and almost as fast.
