Obviously a survey could have revealed some of these issues but if a boat is actually hurricane damaged then I feel a broker is obligated to disclose this information. This broker should be called out here. Seems pretty shady to me. That being said... I'm glad he didn't tell them everything because Raf might not have bought this boat and I feel they were meant to be the owners. It's this journey that we get to share with them on fixing this boat up that has shown us so much and we're all able to share in the skills these massive repairs and renovations take. These are the moments that build an audience. Eventually there will be more cruising but its these first moments that really create a bond with the audience. Not to mention, the editing and production value of this show. Raf has a natural talent to narrate and Sascha just fits perfectly with his style. These two make an amazing team and their show has quickly become top of my list. Cheers guys!
I have been watching this channel since ep.1 and am enjoying this series immensely. I am not a boater by any means, but am very handy with many trades and really appreciate the detail you put into your thought process and showing the actual repairs. Love the quality of your videos and I easily subscribed to your channel. I am not jumping ahead for any spoilers, I am enjoying the ride, living vicariously through both of you.
You both are amazing ... rebuilt the motor , transmission , redid the floor layout , new floors , redid the hull with repairs paint lights and hull fittings ... you both are amazing ... and what is really wonderful you both love each other ... 😊😊😊
For more than one sheet of sandpaper, or beer! The storytelling, music, editing continues upward, way upward…high quality all of it. RU-vid Sailing Channel of the Year type stuff. Cheers and be well you two. 🍻🤗🍻🤗
I started watching your channel last Wednesday and am already hooked up. Congratulations on finishing all the work you have done with Sacha's help. Keep up the excellent work.
Ok, that seals it! You two have to get in the boat flipping biz. Your work ethic alone would guarantee success. The skills, the teamwork, the mental state, all point towards a union without equal. 👍👍👍❤️
I honestly think you two are the only couple n RU-vid that can actually do an entire episode about sanding and sealing floor boards and make it interesting. Great job on the floors. Your mad carpenter skills are really showing.
I am simply amazed at the perseverance, skill and quality of work that you two have managed! Doing all this and dealing with the inevitable shit show that projects like this produce while beginning a relationship is a testament to the type of humans you are! Good on you! Excellent and truly exceptional and entertaining!!
Bro… I understand everything! The best asset you have is that woman….! She makes you a king! So great that she is always so positive! All the best bro…
I know nothing about sail boats. Never been on a sale boat. Honestly, never had much interest either but I have enjoyed watching every episode you guys post. I don't even remember how i stumbled on your channel and started watching. It's been very interesting watching your progress.
So Glad you guys know Bret and Jade. I just finished up caught up w/ their series and started watching you two not knowing you knew them! (guess I should have figured that out). lol I lived on the Intracoastal (condo w/ dock) N. Miami for 12 years and now New England. so I get why 45 degrees seems cold 🙂 Keep Going!
I'm enjoying the wood working tips on the boat channel. I've been remodeling my house and building kitchen cabinets so I'm just like, "yeap that's right!" About the sanding and finish. Also, it is tedious living in your remodeling. They have to either be totally on edge or they have god-level patience. They appear to be keeping good humor, as you must, because because those are some cramped quarters.
Wow ! Those floors look really good ! The guy that sold you that boat should be held accountable. But hey you wouldn’t have had all this great remodel footage if you had bought a perfect boat ! When you get done you will have a new boat and you will be able to rest easy knowing it was repaired correctly. Great video !
The two of you are the best. I know editing is not easy and chosing appropriate music is challenging, however, your beautiful personalities, editing skills, and music choice make your videos my absolute first choice.
Really enjoy your channel. Great job on the floors, they look spectacular. Marine grade means there are suppose to no voids and the glue used between layers should not break even after boiling for at least an hour. As you stated unsealed wood is still susceptible to root.
WoW, what a transformation guys. U should b stoked. Coming together. Know it’s on the water already and u guys r enjoying it but I luv watching the process u went thru to get there. Living vicariously thru u guys. Stay safe out there.
I clearly will never understand how sellers don’t elaborate on damages caused by flood, wreckage’s.. etc. Thankfully you all have worked through these obstacles and have some real amazing knowledge of remodeling and construction. Enjoy watching every episode!!! Congratulations 🎉on such an amazing achievement and journey ✌️
.... Proud of you ... great accomplishment checking off the floor project, the transition strips look awesome too .... laughing .. the middle of the night stumble to the head, you'd be full awake by the time that mission was complete ... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
Looks Great! Your determination is encouraging. Redoing the electrical system when you have the boat all apart and in a port with lots of parts will be so much easier than chasing down electrical problems while cruising.
Everything is looking fantastic and you guys will have years and years and years to enjoy all of the sweat equity you're putting into your floating home. Hopefully you're able to take a moment here and there and just be proud of yourselves. Also, there's a special place in hell for whoever butchered the repair of that boat and sold it on as if nothing had happened.
As you shared some new found history about you new to you sail boat am hopeful that all your work and good boater practice's will keep you both safe sailing it to all the fun places you will enjoy taken it. Yes and your new floor look awesome!
KILLING IT! looks better than any factory fitted floor I have ever seen. Your attention to detail and personal standards are rare. Loving your channel. Also love you find obstacles in your path and smash straight through them. That boat is lucky to have you guys! 👌👌⛵👌👌🤜
This is a great series of videos - really gives an insight in detail about what it means to try and restore a 2nd hand boat and get it ready for the water. Plenty of problems to think about, some good advice, and also really interesting watching to try and learn what to do. Probably more info on this series than a day 2 boat maintenance course. Maybe it doesn't make a whole episode - but I;d be pretty interested to see something devoted to all the tools that were used for this refit, and also all the tools that you reckon are needed on board to do any running repairs while under way: as it never ceases to amaze me what can always go wrong on a boat! PS - I remember this area, of the US - 2 weeks at the IYT centre doing courses for STCW - fighting fires, water rescue and RIB training then some R&R at Waxy's. Now in Europe, but would love to get down there again.
Years ago I had a 38' Swan, did the job with the same teak and holly ply you did. I know how hard it is and your end result is nothing short of fantastic! Alignment is such a crucial task and you nailed it!! I was not as adept and wound up hiring a woodsman far better than me to make it right. Well done and WOW! great job on the finish too!
You two just absolutely rock with the amount of work you've gotten done on this boat! Keep up the great work and thank you so much for another cool episode!
Those beams are hallow fiberglass. It's a grid that beneteau glues down to the bottom mold. All of the hatches have holes that lead into the beams which are suppose to drain down the inside of that beam into the bilge compartment. The blockage is somewhere inside of that fiberglass beam!
Quite the effort went into this project, doing this on anchor certainly raised the difficulty level, giving you two a 9.8 Wondering if you could use a boroscope to figure out the draining issue in the grid? Great work and now you two have a beautiful sole ; )
Drill larger bole holes enough to insert a plastic pipe and epoxy them in so the water drains through. I don't think a professional could do a better job on those floors .. it looks awesome.
