my dad is a senior director of IT for safeway albertsons and emil is right, there was tons of uncertainty and tech stuff in the background to make sure it was seamless 😅 even after all the prep though, he said everyone was unsure if it would really be the end of the world or not

Emil, I know you always use that same plastic water bottle but I highly recommend the owala water bottles. They are stainless steel which is better to drink from then plastic but as I’m typing this I remembered that the straw is still plastic so maybe nvm on the healthier part. BUT I still recommend if you are ever in need of a new water bottle. Also super easy to clean.

What I think AI will do is bring about an age of us having UBI. We can charge companies a percentage of what an in that position would have made, and you can scale that by historical data of companies that offered those services.

As a working artist, we are already feeling the strain that AI is placing on demand. People are already losing a lot of clients to AI, and videogame/movie studios are already starting to find ways to implement AI into their workflows, which will inevitably lead to smaller teams and even more layoffs in an industry that already has 2 job openings for like 100 qualified applicants. The reason I have to disagree with Ben's take is twofold, one, artists aren't "prompt engineers". Saying that artists will be able to just transition to "getting the right things out of the AI" is similar to saying "You enjoy podcasting for a living? Your new job is to get fake AI Ben and fake AI emil to say things you'd normally say for people to consume on demand". It kinda butchers the whole spirit of human creativity. Secondly, if AI is going to improve exponentially, we may be able to use it as a tool now, but what about in 10 years? Will we really need all that many artists once AI has evolved to make anything the consumer wants? I certainly don't think the average person is going to be pleased by just having the magical AI make pictures for them compared to a real human, but I definitely think that at least in the next few years, there's going to be a whole lot going down in the creative field. P.S. I say this with love, just wanted to insert my 2 cents from a creative's perspective. This is one of my favorite podcast ever since the show that shall not be named, B + E are the goats.
