Got my boots from you, got my ball joint remover tool, now I need the time, and a pair of fresh cotter pins. Good tip to leave the inner joint mounted on the steering ram, but nice to see one off the ram to fully see its mechanics. Thanks for all you do! these boots are an arse pain to keep dealing with, so glad to finally have a durable replacement.
Watched it all too! Thanks!!!!! Had a dream last night I got a BX23s with loader backhoe and mower. Woke up and reality hit me that Im probably lucky to get a BX 1880 with loader and mower! Never owned a riding mower or tractor but need one now and have watched hours upon hours of videos! You guys are Great!! Thanks! n God Bless!!
Thanks Tom. Once you get a tractor you'll wonder how you ever did without it. Great machines. The Kubota's are fantastic reliable machines that really hold their value. Happy to hear you enjoyed our videos. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy Easter and God bless you and your family.
Enjoy your videos Paul. And of course they wouldn't be as good without your better half keeping you on the straight and narrow. Wishing you a speedy recovery. God Bless you both.
Thanks, Paul! Watching you videos since start of channel. Saved me few thousands already as I am able to service my BX myself. Current boots problem is heading me now - during last service inspection showed that after 3 years Kubota original boots started cracking. Here in New Zealand we do not have many options for getting aftermarket parts except originals... So, thanks again for guidelines and I will be replacing this parts next months probably.
In one of your videos you got a "Kubota BX Inner Tie Rod Boot Upgrade Kit" from eBay. At that time your advice was to get one as it was looking good quality product, but the seller had at that time some strange pricing (like millions of dollars) for item and that was the end of story. I had a look now - product is back and the price is $25. Did you have any update about those boots? I can't remember I seen one, but may be I just missed it.You installed them on one of the tractors - did it survive better than originals? Is it an option for solving the problem? I am looking to order a set from somewhere and want a better than original quality as I am a bit disabled and try to avoid unnecessary activity as much as possible.
Thanks Joe. I was a heavy equipment operator for many years then later on in life I discovered Kubota’s. Great machines but watch out. There’s plenty of info out there that’s not accurate but you’ll know what’s right because of your background. We love these machines so much we decided to shut down our automotive shop and go into designing and fabricating accessories for the BX and Kubota’s larger machines. Just love the job. Congrats on your BX. The best machine on the market, hands down. If you like looking around the net check ou our site. Thanks for watching. www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com/
Yep, JD yellow looks good on most anything. :) Hope they last longer then what was on it. I've got a few more hours on mine. Coming up on 800 hours. Thanks for the video. I'm still learning. Take care and God Bless! Levi~~
Just a tip on what I do to reinstall those lock rings. Slide them up a tapered shaft like a punch, reamer or whatever you have. Once you get them expanded, take a needle nose pair of vice-grips and squeeze the rings together. Take off the shaft, slip on whatever you're working on and release the vice-grips. Took me years of fighting those (expletives deleted) before I figured out this solution.
Fine video as usual. I've kept my 2008 bx24 in decent shape with Paul's help. The plastic hood has now cracked. Paul, I'd love something on fixing or patching a crack in the body.
Great Video. I replaced a ball joint on my BX, but not a boot. This is something I will probably be doing this summer. I power steering cylinder must be leaking internally requiring me to turn my steel on side slopes to stay running in a straight line. not a problem when warmed up(which is weird).
Paul,I got a full set of these boots of yours in January. This past week I put them on as I had to do the front axle seals anyways. Hopefully this comment goes a way to help others that you have or will be selling these too. I am going to say I was a bit nervous about doing them because of all the trouble you describe having with the clips. But I was willing to tackle this anyways, as Kubota boots wouldn't last much over a year anyways. I put my boots on with the tie rod ends still attached to the tractor. Flipping them over and resting them on the front housings I did the outer ones, then removing the outer half by counting the turns and also measuring the lock nut as you did. I installed the inner ones while still on the tractor then reassembled. On the first one, the first thing we did was attempt to put on the small clip. We did have a heck of time. My impatient father was helping me, and after about two minutes of it not popping right on he threw it and said "heck with this, next time buy the right crap, this will never work." However I found the clip in a dust pile, and after soaking the boot in hot water for several minutes first we got it on. The big clip, I had no difficulty with. I pushed it onto the boot into the first indent before even putting the boot on the tractor. Then pushing the boot in place, I easily walked the clip into place. In fact I thought you were crazy for having such difficultly. After this, the other 3 went on like a breeze. I took the joint apart, and my impatient father took the clip to the desk and very quickly popped on the little clip with no issues, in less then 2 min. I approached the big clip the same way, and in no time had all 4 done. This mod went together way easier then what did describe in the video.-Mike
That’s great Mike. Most are having no issues. We’re putting them on now as we are having a coffee by the bench lol. Glad it worked out. Those will last 👍 Happy tractoring.
It's funny Paul, I just had to replace one of my boots because it was broken wide open. My tractor is an 05, but it only have 900 hours on it. I may just have to upgrade next time.
I checked my BX boots when you covered another non oem boot a while back and they were fine. I checked again after watching this video and surprisingly the two tie rod boots were in bad shape while the inner boots were still fine. Like Killer, I use mine a lot but it has never spent one night outside. That brought another thing to mind. My driveshaft boots are also on the way out so I'm doing that job (per your video-thank you) with OEM boots. If you do decide to go down the "yellow boot road" you might want to see if they can also source the drive shaft boots because these OEM driveshaft boots are clearly garbage too.
Of course I watched the whole video, ha, and a nice video it was. Great job as always and thanks for posting it and thanks for all the effort that goes into making them.
Hey Paul and Kathy! I just bought a BX25D and have had it for about a week. Really enjoying it. Really... Just wanted to say that the boots on my new BX are made of a clear rubber and seem thicker the the black ones. You should check your dealer to see if they changed to a newer boot. Great videos, thanks.
That deadbolt tip is great, so is anti-seize, that stuff gets on everything so its guaranteed to transfer to the door case....and your hands...and your pants...and your tools....and the neighbors roof.
Well done Paul, just a gentle reminder there is a difference between what Italians call cold, and what Newfoundlanders call cold. Give them a lookee in the spring, after they have been sitting for winter. Nice move with the yellow rag, it is very important those Italian boots went on with style ! Otherwise, they won't work properly. :-)
Hi Thanks for all the video's. I was very impressed with your work that I bought a Kubota for the Scouts Canada camp in eastern Canada. BX25D with backhoe.
Man, you weren't kidding about those tie rod boot retainer rings, what a pain in the rear. But, took my time and one step at a time, got them on and ready roll. We'll see how they hold up in this desert heat and blowing dust come spring and summer.
Yes what a pain those clips are but after you do them a few times they get easier. Personally we haven’t had one customer say theirs broke so your test will really count. Urethane is supposed to fight off UV and prevent fading and rotting. It’s also supposed to remain flexible in extreme cold. Hope they work out for you. Kubota sure made a blunder of the oem boots.
Excellent Video as usual, really love all the attention to detail and complete explanation...Can't wait to get the results of the stress/live use test...They look great, but if they can make yellow ones, the manufacturer should try and get orange ones...LOL
Timing is everything, I am if it stops raining doing my 400 hour service on my L4760 and both sides the boots are coming off. I have put them back on but they keep coming off so this may be my answer but do they come in Kubota Orange instead of John Deer Yellow ? my buddy is going to give me such a bad time. On that Torque we always used the click click setting and yes after 1000 times you can tell the feel of it. My dad when I was a kid could set the gap on the points with a matchbook cover and tune it by the sound and I tested him and he was right on the money. Thanks again Paul and Kathy for a fine video !
Nice video thank for showing how to get the "boots" on and off.... you didn't show it the last time..! The yellow "boots" fit with the yellow dipstick.!!
Howdy Paul, the set I bought from you came in the mail this morning. Had them on in 75 minutes for all four. No idea why but all the clips went on with no troubles. Great product and I’m sure they’ll be on a long while. Thanks!
@@7863348 Hi Paul and Kathy, the boots came in that I ordered from you. The package did not come with snap rings. What size snap rings do I need? Thanks, from Steve Sands
Hello Paul; Another problem with the B3200. the factory thermostat is (82c/ 176f) too cold. The temp gauge would barely get above the peg in the winter. Because the tractor sleeps outside, the hydraulic fluid would clog up on the Front End Loader. Kobota no longer supplies a warmer thermostat. I used a generic (88c/192f) thermostat courtesy of Canadian Tire. The temp gauge now rises nicely 30 to 40 percent and hydraulic thaws out.
Paul & Kathy another great video ! i hope they work out for you they look very nice and heavy made ! & yes I watched the whole video too ! LOL take care !! curt :-)
Hello good Sir. You were talking about the importance of proper alignment on a speed Maxine such as that. I will go into greater detail. If it's not right you end up with what we in the souther United States call the "Death Wobble" and very few have lived to tell the tale. Great videos, I got a similar pair that I think you showed in another video. I haven't got them on yet, but I will be soon.
Morning you guys just got your video not to brag about my new holland but it's 9 years old never had to replace those lol hope you have a great day awesome video
Oh I don't take it as bragging my friend. No matter what color tractor we have they all have issues. It's time for Kubota to fix this issue. Thanks for watching.
Can you get these boots still? I have a BX25D and noticed the boots are cracked. I have some time now as coronavirus as put a stop on my work. Enjoy all of your videos!! have to replace the fan blades on the transmission also have purchased a skid plate that will protect the fan. A small branch did in the fan!!!!
Yes. They are on our web site under “BX”. Just email us then if you want them and Kathy will get it on the go for you. www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com/
Paul you need to fabricate a tool like the spring removal tool on the drum brakes that fits over the tiered and allows to run the spring around the boot to reseat it.
Question...could some type of ball joint guard be fabricated? Would be especially reassuring when brush mowing, Great detailed information, thank you Paul & Kathy. Hope the best recovery for you Paul.
Hello again Always a pleasure to watch you two Good job again , i like your professionalism of doing things n.b = i see that you are using now a little brush for your anti-sease grey stuff i remember that you not to happy about the fact that this cie were providing a toy toy brush not long enough to get the stuff out Lol !!!!
Kathy, any update on Paul....? How are you holding up....? We all appreciate the work and hard effort you both have put in over the years. Your reasons for discontinuing you channel are very understandable. As a viewer of your channel, I didn't understand how the subscriber and the like buttons worked. After you explained how it mattered to you and what effect it had on your business, it made a difference. I started making a effort to like all of the video's I watched. I needed it to be explained, I don't want to lose your channel and I'm sure there is lots of people who feel the same. If you and Paul decide to stay, re-educate us every now and then, to help us help you. All of our thought and prayers are with you.
Paul & I always knew we were blessed with fablious viewers but didn't really know fully the impact we were making in each and everyone's lives. Words cannot express just how heart warming it is to read everyone's prayers for both of us, something the viewers learned early on is that Paul & I are a team. Everyone here has always been so nice, not only too Paul but me as well so you all noticed we were a team early on. We appreciate all the encouragement to keeping the channel going and have decided that's exactly what we"ll do but first and far most I need to get Paul well again, pray for a speedy recovery. He is having a difficult night tonight. I pray that his tests will be expedited tomorrow. I will update everyone in a day or two. God Bless. Kathy
Yes, when health issues arise we find out so quickly how minor everything else is. We hope for a quick recovery for Paul first and fore-most and then worry about the channel after. I, as the fellow above am just a casual RU-vidr and am not fully educated on how it all works. With with some awareness things could turn around just by some of the current viewers changing what they do. We need good people on RU-vid that show quality work and tell it like it is - never mind the entertainment value. There are far too many people making videos that are showing/endorsing shoddy work. As a licensed Mechanic here in Ontario it really bothers me seeing so much hack-type work. From what I see there are VERY few RU-vid channels that impress me and yours is one of them.
Hello Paul; Had a problem with the B3200. The fan belt was cutting into the sheath of the tachometer flexible cable. I used two cable ties to hold the tachometer cable closer to the engine block. Then I changed the fan belt. (9.5 mm. x 940 mm.) instead of (9.5mm x 950mm.). The NAPA equivalent (10mm. x 967mm.) is too long.
I gotta have some of those boots. Noticed mine were half gone at the 50 hour check. Did you say you were going to sell them? One good thing about the yellow is you'll see them and keep an eye on them. I never noticed mine were there (or not there, as it were) until 50 hours.
Good video really interesting but be carefull kathy will get jealous you keep buying new boots for the Kubota you should take her out and buy a pair for Kathy now..God bless you both...PS I've got your back kathy lol........
Good Video! Paul you did a lot of work without your Smurfy gloves. Make sure you protect your Sing'ger's. You would think, that with Upper Management standing there video taping, she would have reminded you. Lol. Take care you two. God Bless!
Hey Paul and Kathy. Hello from Florida. Hey I wanted to ask. Where did you get the mud shields for the bx. Really looks good and would like a pair for mine. Thanks you guy great stuff
Great job and video. I really enjoy your videos (even though I drive a green tractor). Always informative and fun. Do you have a video of you making the angled lights on each side of the front bumper?
Hey I love green tractor as well. I really do. I never did a video on the curb lights. That was before Kathy became the videographer so I never took the time to film it.
Hey Paul and Kathy. Yes sir I am watching and listening...LOL. Paul I think I am going to buy a John deer..LOL to many things to fix on the Kubota. LOL...Oh now I have to measure to man I don't know about this one. Paul if those replacements are from Italy, aren't they spensive..
Hello Paul and Kathy. Thanks for your help previously. I hope everything is going ok. I have a bx2360 and the cowl is about to expire I am wondering if you can suggest a reasonably priced option. Bearing in mind I am in Australia. They appear around 700 to 800 Aussie dollars here .
Another great video Paul & Cathy!! Glad to see you're feeling better Paul. I would like to order a set for my 2008 BX2350 ! How do I order them?? Thanks
Actually I found them searching for poly boots. There are actually two sizes, inner is 14-34-24 and outer is 12-29-24. Not sure which dimension is which but I assume the difference is why the outer boot was loose on the larger spring in the video.
I ordered the boots from the european supplyer. I ordered the correct outer size and the correct inner size and they replaced the smaller inner size with more of the outersize. I'm not going to use poorly fitting boots on my tractor so I'll order replacements from Kubota for the inner size and use the poly for the outer. I'm definitely not happy about the substitution.
Look like this a problem on cars also. Here in Norway we need to check cars every 2 year. but every time the ruber boot is cracked and I need to change them. they say it's to make car road safety. but is oem ruber (GM) so bad? so can I bye a set from you?
Is that the same tractor that you replaced the boots on before? If yes is that a new manufacture of the boot? Does this happen to all Kubota tractors or just the BX models?
Loch is it calling in german. Are your tools in mm or inch ? Look for Winterdienst Extrem here by yt, in south Germany and Austria we have 2 - 3 Meter snow. 2 weeks snowfall, never ends!
Well Andi we have both imperial and metric measure here. If we buy our tools in Canada they are metric but if we get them from the USA they are in inches. That’s a lot of snow😳. We had snow yesterday but later on in the day it changed over to rain. Now it’s all ice. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video so detailed and complete, it is something we BX owners are going to want to do ouselves now that we know how. It has rained almost every day since I bought my BX, have you ever thought of designing a canopy ? I'm slapping together something but it will be nowhere near as nice as your standard of work. Thanks again.
@@7863348 I actually got them from a different dealer I never realized you sold them. If you'd like to discuss more through email you can send me an email at rocky@rockystrong.com
Hi Paul and Kathy, I would like to purchase a couple of tube containers you have on the bucket of your BX. Where can I purchase them? Thank you, Wayne Steffen
There’s a couple of differant sizes so pick the size you need www.amazon.com/MOTO4U-Motorcycle-Universal-Waterproof-Canisters/dp/B07DVDHVHX/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=Plastic+equipment+tubes&qid=1558559910&s=gateway&sr=8-10
Thanks for the great tutorials. I realize there may not have been much of a trial on this product but if I am going to buy I may as well buy this product. Link for purchase please?
