Hi Bob and Jenny your tour around Sligo was an exact copy of our holiday in july 2022 .We went to Sandbanks /Poole/Bournemouth on the hottest day for years and could not find a parking spot anywhere all car parks and street parking full so returned to Weymouth never stopping and that was in a car . Thanks for your tour of Northern Ireland
Shame Jenny and Poppy couldn't go and see the waterfall. Good that you all found a nice walk by the loch at the end. I also enjoyed the lovely scenery on the drive and the lack of people in the countryside.
Wonder if ppl didn't clean up after their dogs or just super anti pet friendly. Some beaches donegal they have horse and carts and ppl walking their dogs peacefully

Welcome to Ireland Bob. While Ireland is indeed a republic - it’s official name is Ireland or Éire. Republic of Ireland is the name given to the Irish football team and consequently many assume (wrongly)it to be the country’s official name also. The team use this to distinguish itself from the Northern Ireland team. Historically- at one point both teams wanted to be called Ireland and this was decided by UEFA as a compromise. If you read the Irish constitution you will see that it is Ireland or Éire. Regards.
Evening folks. Great to see you both on the road again. Yes folks you'll get plenty of " CUT THE CORNER DRIVERS" all over Ireland, north and south. So take care. I often understand the "NO DOGS ALLOWED" notice. You know that old saying "where's there's muck, well in Irelands case, "where's there's muck there's muck. As many fail to clean up after their little pooch. Should you both decide to take up tap dancing , go to Belfast. You'll Tap Dance all over the place. Great percentage of the FAIL to do group. Lovely trip "around "Sligo, I missed it so much, I still miss it, to be honest folk It more about the scenery around that direction. Sligo is most certainly not motorhome or car park friendly. Disappointing you never got to park up and walk. Hey-ho Poppy seemed to enjoy. Hope you enjoyed the coffee, it was well deserved. Dundalk and Drogheda, especially the latter is nice with St Peters Church, which is home to the in-cased Head of Blessed OLIVER PLUNKETT. On the opposite side of the border Omeath and Carlingford. Driving around the coastal route to Co Down is some very nice scenery also. Mountains Mourne Mountains, Tollymore Forest Park. Enjoy the rest of the journey. Stay Safe.
The reason so many places in Ireland do not allow dogs is that all refuse collection is privately run, there are no bin collections are there is in the UK so all waste collection has to be paid for by the owner of the property, you will notice the absence of rubbish bins and dog poop bins in most towns, Ireland advocates a "take your rubbish home with you" policy which of course most people completely ignore hence the ban.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Ireland has a different outlook to dogs and definitely not the love affair that we have in the UK. Dogs tend to be functional, working, guard etc. Also there is a much more laid back approach to authority, not a lot of attention is paid to "you must not do this" type of signs and the more rural you get the more prevalent that becomes. I have known people to build houses without planning permission and live there for years and no-one said a thing 🤣🤣
The roads look very smooth lack of potholes but the petrol stations all seem to have brands we’ve never heard of. So if you drove from north to south and back without any trouble why when we left the EU was there such a mess about over trade.
Hi Bob - used to work at a cross community music summer school in Blacklion and stayed in a hotel/restaurant there each year. Just about best restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. The chef is Nevan - a well known TV chef over there - incredible food. The hotel is called McNean House - you passed it in Blcklion on your video! Most highly recommended.
Not sure why Poppy couldn’t go to the waterfall. Where Eagles Dare is one of my favourite films. Not sure I could cope with the pontoon moving. Take care Gill
i got a jack russell which is so soft he would love going for walks with poppy and when jenny and poppy could not go into the park i even felt the disappointment
I understand your frustration when confronted by "dogs not allowed" It isn't the pets fault, it's the irresponsible pet owners that refuse to clear up after their pets!
It seems there are more and more no dogs and no motorhomes barriers and signs everywhere. Obviously they don't need the revenue it brings to these towns and scenic places. Makes my blood boil!!! Its not usually dog owners or motorhomers who litter these places with rubbish, graffitti and hyperdermic needles!
An excellent video Bob and Jenny Ireland is somewhere I would love to explore more my cousin and his family live down near Galway in a place called Ballinasloe the scenery where you are looks amazing I was sorry to see Jenny and Poppy couldn’t see the waterfall it seems unduly harsh why dogs wouldn’t be allowed on such a walk I guess it’s for every 9 responsible dog owners one is not Looks like you are all having a fabulous time
i have my back seat driver as we cant name those devices i have mine set to french speaking while in france and belguim as my mum is from france so i wont hear the end of it
The problem probably stems from lack of bins, both for dogs and household. The Travel Trolls found that on their tour of Ireland they couldn't dispose of refuse easily, having to pay at disposal sites.
Another great video, thanks. Poor Poppy, she's not having much luck exploring around. I wonder if the irresponsible dog owners that don't clean up after their dogs have spoilt it for others? These days many councils are cutting back on their services, so if they ban dogs from a public area, then they don't have the extra cost of cleaning up beauty spots etc.

Hi Guys. See you made it in to the Republic! Funnily enough we visited Sligo last month in our Motorhome and parked in the exact car park you visited, there was a lovely lady manning the hut who charged a couple of euros( I think) and gave us a guide map too! It's a lovely town.
They seem to have made Ireland a great place to drive through,on well-surfaced roads. But no chance of stopping anywhere to explore, and certainly if you have a dog!
Well this English couple haven't been to Ireland before in a Motorhome, but we did enjoy our little trip. We're not proud of being ignorant, just amused at how little we knew. Perhaps next time we'll plan and research better.
