The companionship of the holy ghost, has given me power on high. I stand all amazed at the influence and the direction of the Holy Ghost, it protects one from the enemy of righteousness.
Indeed. When I first heard this talk, it was (and still is) in direct answer to my fervent pleadings to have the Holy Ghost with me! I had the thought then: “I’m going to come back to study this again and again.”
This is just way golden. I'm spiritually uplifted and spiritually fed . I needed to hear this talk . I have a morning and evening routine to rewatch conference on a regular basis. What a great talk from Elder Irene one of the precious 12 during this conference. This is almost like listening to the Apostle Paul speak and trying to guiding the Church of Jesus Christ. I know these guys or truth apostles of God and president Nelson a great prophet. I see President Nelson at this time just as Moses trying to lead to people to Victory . Some will not listen and they will follow. Just like the parable of the ten virgins. These things our faithful brother Irene spoke about are true because I have had the same experience over and over, not to boast, only to make none of the truth. I am grateful for Joseph Smith in his obedience to the Lord, and of the persecution came with being a prophet of God. We would be like all the rest of the churches if we had not received the Everlasting gospel like it speaks about in Revelation in this church. Where would we be without the Book of Mormon the pearl of great price with the Doctrine and Covenants only to be scattered like the world . This church has given me so many tools to uplift my heart and soul closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. What a great conference!
The Holy Spirit is the ultimate guide, and source of wisdom. He can also speak peace to our souls. Being connected to the Holy Spirit, is like our brain being connected to our heart. If that connection is severed, we will die. Likewise if we sever our connection with God, we will suffer spiritually, and start to loose our loving relationship with him.
I pray that the Family Proclamation will be added to the Doctrine and Covenants to forever make it clear how we feel about the eternal importance of the family. It has been that proclamation in particular that has converted me to the LDS faith.
Heed unto the warnings of the prophet. He is saying that his grandkids will need the Holy Ghost, permanently. He will not. Think about that. Don't just be good enough to argue, to deny, but think deeply about what he has just said.
Jeeler we will find out a lot more after we die. That's when you will see your life review, and the books will be opened. You will see the Good the Bad the Ugly of your Life review. The scriptures speak of this, not in my words but in many places. If we don't want to see any bad and ugly we need to repent now so the Lord can wipe that off our rap sheet like the Lord promised.
I’m not sure what he means . Does he mean he won’t be there with them every minute? Or is he saying he won’t be around when hard times come? Is he saying he thinks he may pass away ? Any thoughts? Just the way he said it seems like he may mean that ?
Sounds to me like he is aware he will not be around when the tribulation is playing out before the second coming. He wants to convey to his family (and the church) how to survive spiritually when he isn't there.
The examples Eyring is using refer to is actually the Spirit of God. It is my understanding that the Spirit of God is distinct from the Holy Ghost. God is also able to commune with His Children and has done so from the beginning but Bible translators have confused His Spirit with that of the Holy Ghost. And the Holy Ghost is also interchangeably called the Holy Spirit. It is unlikely that the Holy Ghost as we understand Him was given to the Nephites and Lamanite prior to the coming of Jesus Christ. There are actually two forms of Spiritual influence, one is the Old Testament Spirit of God and the other is from the New Testament called the Second Comforter which we commonly call the Holy Ghost. Who is the First Comforter then? It is the Spirit of God whose influence was before the coming of the Savior. It is also interesting to note, the Second Comforter was put into play only after Jesus Christ was resurrected. Thus, there has to be a connection between Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost, for why else was the gift of it given only at this time and not before? Wonder how many people have actually thought about that? I suppose I could say more for these things have unfortunately not been properly examined or explained. But that would be another discussion entirely. Suffice to say, that the Spirit of God is NOT the Holy Ghost and the Holy Ghost is NOT the Spirit of God. They are two separate things yet are often confused as the same thing as evidenced in this talk by Eyring.
i don't like how the the graphic design has changed in church imagery and text. it looks jehovahs witness, i don't like it one bit. pls change it back. it doesnt have the same tone and spirit it had before it feels corrupted.
