Very smart move on the rock wool and putting sound deadening on the floor of the driver cab because it will also protect the metal underneath from moisture.

I have a t3 syncro, insulated it some time ago. Please, don't use rockwool!!! it collects the moisture from you both when you sleep inside, and rusts the van from the inside. You can see many videos about this too. You need to use closed cell foam adhesive....i would be such a shame to promote rust in your otherwise great van. 👌
Really? I asked in the shop, this was recommended. I will add a moisture barrier too and the old insulation was also like this with no sign of rust or moisture🤷🏼♂️ Atleast now I know how to do it😂 Thanks!
@@SimonBraeck I was also just going to say the same. That is like a worst insulation that you can use on a car. And also when it is not moist it will introduce rock wool dust to the inside of the car when driving so that is no good as well.
Hello! The Westfalia/California (at least from the early 90's, are isolated with some 5 cm of glasswool. Inside the doors - whatsoever -there aren't anything more than some bitumen plates, glued to the steel pans... (but you allready might know this) Then, the big difference in isolation between this and those Westfalias, seems to be those double glassed rear - and rear side windows. Hopefully this work great for you!
Well this is just weird... Since lock down we've done exactly the same jobs as you guys. Sound deadening, insulation, new ABS plastic tail gate panel, tinted rear lights... We even have the same reverse bulbs as you!!! WTF!!! :) I'll have to email you some pics of our van. Awesome work as always guys, really enjoy your van videos and it's nice to see that like us you both get involved in jobs on the van. One recommendation I would make though is to put a vapour barrier in the rear between the rockwool and the panels. A like the the front doors have. Rockwool will absorb condensation and hold it which will cause corrosion. Have you noticed how much quieter it is to drive now with the sound deadening? All the best Ben

Nice upgrades to the van. The soundproofing and insulation should provide a comfortable ride on the highway. Cup holders looks nice, but I would paint them black or stain them. Good job!
In normal time wee make a one week roadtrip but wee can't for now...our t3 is ready i hope in fews weeks it will be ok for take the road. You will be so good in your silentious vw 👍👍
Yeah, that’s unfortunate. Hopefully we’ll all be able to do roadtrips this summer. And most likely explore our own country because of international regulations. Time will tell! I look forward to it😊

Hi, Rockwool is not the best isolation for camper .You have always the little parts flying in the air. It is really better when you use Armaflex for example. Greets
Thank you Kevin😊😊 We used Rockwool sound panels, it helps to eliminate road noise while resisiting moisture well. I did a lot of research and couldn’t find «the one and only» material. I’ve seen Armaflex mentioned a lot, but we couldn’t get hold of it easily, so we went with this.
NIce to see you again guys! Good job! But is it safe to use rockwool withiouth the cover? As i know there is a chance for micro dust to come out from the interior panels to the car. Have you thought about cotton inulation panels or amaflex? I saw cotton plates inside the t4 caravelle and i thing they were from the factory. Regadrs!
Thanks! You know what, I tried searching all over the internet for insulation tips. I feel like everyone have their own opinion. We ended up using rockwool because we could hardly get hold of anything else quickly (and without paying a hefty custom fee)... Also it can tackle moisture okay and we saw no sign of excisting moisture in there, plus help with sound deadening. We have covered it all with panels now😊

Hei, takk for det!! Vi fant noen pakker hos Biltema som visstnok er på vei ut av sortimentet nå. Men Dynamat etc gjør jobben like godt er jeg overbevist om. Bilen hadde heldigvis hevetak når vi kjøpte den, ikke det skrå Westfalia-taket, men et litt rart tak fra SCA. Har lagt ut noen andre videoer hvor vi bla. har tatt av taket for å skifte teltstoffet.

Haven’t spent any time in the van besides driving it lately. But it’s more quiet for sure😊 And the doors does not sound hollow and flimsy when they’re closed😊
Hi! I think it’s a difference worth the effort of the job. We can more easily have a conversation without raising our voices when we are in highway speeds. Also we still need to do the panels on the entire left side of the van which will improve it further. I’ve heard that changing the window seals also helps a lot, we’ve already done 3 window seals so that might contribute to the result as well.
We’ve been to Morocco once, had a great time. I’ve even made a video from that trip on my channel. I doubt our van would handle those warm temperatures though😂

Thanks!🙌🏼 For now, we won’t. We never imagined it needing insulation because we thought we would only use it during summer. Things were done in the wrong order and dismantling the entire kitchen section would take lots of time.
