This video is totally awesome your (and your son's) love for Eurovision came through . This was a brilliant video of your experience so much so we shared in your happiness. I actually watched it twice grins. That was a real VIP experience and you made it very personable.
Aaaaaw Tony, you made this mum cry, when you said that in minute 19. I have three kids; 20, 18 and 16yrs old, and by the summer of next year they will all have left the nest, so I understand you choking up 😉. Also, I am a huge ESC fan and my oldest, who studies in The Netherlands since 2 years (we live in Spain) is too. We have been talking about going to a live ESC for years, but it never happens for one reason or another. You now convinced me that I have to do whatever it takes to go next year, time flies sooo quickly. Thank you for this lovely video 🤗.
Thank you so much! So glad our story is touching so many people, including fellow parents! By all means, GO TO SWITZERLAND if you can make it! You won’t be sorry! We appreciate your kind comments so much, and thank you for watching!
I know! She was SO sweet as well, even though she probably hadn’t slept and was likely feeling sad after (undeservedly) placing so low in the rankings. Thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words!
Your son is so blessed. I felt his excitement and joy. I checked the prices, I expected something outrageous for a 3-hour show in a VIP lounge. My issue is: do I go to Eurovision and sit, or do I join the mad crowd and dance all night long? Thanks for the vlog, you convinced me to check tickets for the show in Switzerland. Even if the prices shall be muuuuch different.
How come you took the X2000 high speed train for the short hop over to Malmö? Wouldn't it have been much cheaper to use the Öresundståg regional train? :D
Ah. You noticed. Actually, we mistakenly tried to get the X2000 but were told our ticket was only good for the ‘normal’ train. So what you saw in the video was us waiting for a train we never got, then getting on a train we never showed. Movie magic!
I KNOW! And she was so sweet and gracious, it was very generous of her to stop for photos with us… she must’ve been so tired from the night before. Such a classy performer, and a lovely person. She deserved to place higher in the final results!
@@TravellingWithTeens fair enough and I don’t mean to be political here, but the audience reaction was such a story I was surprised at your edit. I loved the experience at Liverpool and am hoping to go to Switzerland. See you there!
Hey, that's me waving the Union Flag sat on the floor queuing for the Grand Final! I'm so glad you both had a wonderful time, it's so great to see! I was able to get tickets for all the live shows through the fanclub. I'm happy to give further information about this if you want? Let me know, Cheers!
nice to have someone who had a positive experience of the show considering all of the negativity surrounding this year (some of it for a good reason with Netherlands DQ and the controversy with Israel competing). I just get sad when so many are hating on the show itself.
Great video. I haven't been to Eurovision since 2017, apart from Semi Final 1 in Liverpool which i won through a Cadbury competition . I am considering VIP next year They were giving away the Prime drinks at Melodifestivalen in Stockholm this year. First time i tried it. It was vile like you said
Thank you for this video so I can live vicariously through you! It looks so quiet! I thought it would be hectic!! And your relationship with your son is so sweet to see. I would LOVE to go one day but coming from Aus it's a long way!
Yeah, with only 9,000 people in the arena, it was fairly intimate as far as concerts go. So pleased we can spread the joy all the way down to Oz, and who knows… you might win one year! Thanks so much for watching, and for taking the time to comment
I’m back to 2004 when I was in the audience in Istanbul, enjoyed this so much, thank you! I wish we’ll be back in eurovision, don’t know why we are not in it for years! Seeing Sertab Erener (everyway that I can) on stage this year made us all cry🥹 And what a lovely father you are (also made me cry)🥹❤️
What a lovely video, was fantastic seeing you both have a wonderful experience and whilst I’ve never thought about going to see Eurovision it looked an incredible day. The VIP lounge was fantastic, food looked great and the views from the seats were amazing. Tony your dedication to your video presenting was outstanding-videoing from the plane loo - was chuckling at that when I realised where you were 😂 Loved your proud father moment- made me shed a few tears, was so happy for you. Getting the train from Copenhagen was a brilliant idea, so easy. Loved seeing everything that goes into making Eurovision and the stuff you don’t see on TV, fascinating. Thank you for sharing, really enjoyed watching this 👏👏
Liverpool hotels was very expensive last year. We stayed in Wrexham which was a lot cheaper and had a 40 minute train. The VIP box looked incredible!! Let’s hope next years Eurovision can be a little less dramatic
The Liverpool hotel prices were exactly why we didn’t go! Good idea staying in Wrexham. The VIP box was definitely worth the money… once in a lifetime experience! Thanks for watching
Omg I am so happy for you guys ❤ I remember when I went to see Eurovision for the first time here in Vienna and it was amazing experience… great video 🫶
Good question! There was no booing that we could hear or see close to where we were in VIP, though that’s not to say it didn’t happen. It certainly was loud in the rest of the arena (not for Israel so much as people’s cheers drowned them out, but definitely for Martin… you couldn’t hear a word he said!)
Around $640 USD not bad. This year I was trying to get tickets because May 10 was my birthday final will happen the next day and for us in America 🇵🇦 it is impossible to get tickets. I wrote a letter and they replied that they sorry for me not being able to get tickets but nothing else they can do
There were a few, but from our perspective the TV angles made it much louder than it was in the arena. In fact, more people were cheering for Eden (and more loudly) so you could barely hear a single boo!
That was actually a really entertaining video to watch. I just attended my first ever Eurovision, so it was cool seeing different parts of Malmö Arena.
@@TravellingWithTeens We happened to sit next to a very friendly Irish dude, chatting about what we thought of each entry, and he was in hysterics to the point of tears when Bambie Thug got his home country qualified to the final for the first time in 6 years
@@TravellingWithTeens I did thanks 🙂 I went with my dad we didn't stay overnight in a hotel when we actually travelled to and from South Wales in the same day and got back home early hours of the morning the next day managed to enjoy the eurovision village before the semi final show and went to a meet and greet event hosted by wiwibloggs where I met KEiiNO Anyway great video of your trip and also nice your son got to have a picture with Raivan and yeah maybe see you in Switzerland 🙂
it isnt "their best song of the year" , but rather a song composed/lyricized specifically for the contest. It can not have been publicly released or performed before a specific date.
@@TravellingWithTeens only those who HAVE national contests which varies, but might be about half.. Many countries' national broadcasters dont have the budget for it.. SVT being the rich giant that it is sets the standard for the entire EBU. People can complain about the bland pop Sweden produces, but their is a reason many broadcaster hire people like Jimmy THornfeldt and THomas G:son.
I stumbled across a way to watch the last contest in Malmo in 2013, where I discovered the Goddess that is Petra Mede. Being 1/8 Swedish myself it rekindled my interest in that part of my heritage. I had passed thru Malmo in 2011 on my way up to see Linkoping, where my GretGranny came from. Man the difference in atmosphere between 2013 and 2024.... and nearly all of it falls on Martin Osterdahl and the EBU governors. I wish I had the finances to afford access to the VIP booth! SHEESH! /envious
So your so into the festival but then talk abou that some contestant got violant back stage ? You have to know it was holland and not violant that wy Almost al the people booiooht
There are a hundred videos that cover the topic better, and I respect that - I didn’t want to cover any of the negative aspects of this year’s ESC… just our story from our perspective.
Oh wow my dream I tryed to get tickets in 2023 in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧that are where I am from sold out so quickly! I am thinking of trying again for next year in Switzerland🇨🇭. Wow Sweden looks so good🇸🇪
We didn’t even TRY for tickets in Liverpool (even though we live in the UK), but I’m so glad we were lucky enough in Sweden. It was amazing. Thank you so much for watching, and we hope you get to go next year!
