Absolutely adorable! By the way, I’m a new teacher for EF in Southern California and I’m very excited to work with students coming from different countries!

I spent 18 days in Näfels, Switzerland last November. Such a beautiful place. The scenery much like i have in parts of Colorado. I did have a big problem with the language barrier. First I did not know any Swiss German past Danka schoen and I was probably saying it wrong. There did not seem to be anyone that spoke any English either. Not their fault, why should they learn English. My customer assured me most know at least some English but do not want to speak it because it may not be very good. It most certainly would of been better than my Swiss German. Very lovely people though and i hope to go back. Great to see another video Linda. I learn more about Europeans everytime I watch an exchange video.

Hi! I'm thinking of going to Japan or South Corea with EF, but I have a question. If i choose to go for a semester or for a year, do I "lose" that semester or year of my actual High School? (I'm 16, I'll be 17) Thank you!

Isabella Az Hey! If you want to do a high school exchange year just as I did with EF, you will only have the choice to go to England, Ireland or the USA. So Japan or South Korea won’t be an option if you want to go with EF. But to answer your question, it depends on what country you are from. Sometimes you can transfer the grades to your actual school system in your country, but sometimes you have to re-do the semester or year. I had to re-do my year because my exchange year did not count for me academic wise.

Linda Brouwers I know his comment is old but I have to agree. I went to EF tokyo for a short time and I learned that some students were studying there for 1 year. It’s ridiculously expensive in my opinion. Even with my host family discount it still was a ton.

Would you recommend traveling abroad with EF? Itraveled abroad this past summer in 2017 and REALLY want to do it again but I don't know what programs to trust and what programs not to trust.

Makayla Hunter That’s great that you want to do it again!! Living abroad is an amazing experience for sure! I would recommend EF because I’ve had a good experience and I legitimately think that their support is very good. Every company has its pros and cons but every company wants you to have the best experience. So you should choose a company that feels right for you and I had that feeling with EF. :)

Linda Brouwers What did EF pay for and do they offer anything along the lines of scholarships? Just out of curiosity do they pay for air fare or no? Thank you so much for getting back to me!!

Makayla Hunter Included is your return flight and school and the support system. It is a big investment you have to do but I believe there is no better investment than in yourself :) EF in the Netherlands offered like a $500 scholarship to a few students but other than that nothing in particular.

naomi ro You have to know at least a decent amount of the language. Sure they are not going to require you to speak the language fluently, but you have to be able to make some conversations

Ef has tours like planned trips to different countries and you don't need to know the language

Hey Linda! Ik ben 16 jaar en zou dit heel graag is willen proberen, maar ik zit al heel lang met een vraag; hier in België hebben we in juli en augustus vakantie, 2 maanden lang, en in september begint het nieuwe schooljaar, ik heb het idee om 1 of 1,5 maand naar Amerika te gaan in de vakantie en daarna gewoon verder te doen met school, kan dit? En hoe kan ik mijn ouders overtuigen?

Ik ga deze zomervakantie 5 weken naar amerika met ef! Het kan dus zeker, alleen niet naar een highschool maar naar een speciale ef school. Wat betreft je ouders, vertel ze waarom je dit zo leuk lijkt en vraag bijv een brochure aan die ze rustig even kunnen doorlezen. Neem ze mee naar infoavonden (die houden ze in nederland best vaak, ik weet niet precies hoe het zit met belgië) zodat ze ook echt met ef zelf in contact komen en veel over jouw reis en de organisatie te weten komen. Hopelijk heb je hier wat aan!

I’m 14 and I wanted to go to santa barbara for 3 weeks and I wanted to ask for your opinion, am I to young and should I wait till I’m 16 or something or should I go?❤️

K G If you think you can do it, you should! Never too early to travel and learn! :) I was 16 when I left but I stayed in the US for a whole year. I think starting off for 3 weeks as a 14 year-old is a good option!

Sara Timofiejuk Hii, yeah I’m 16 now😂 I didn’t go to Santa Barbara but i did go to Cambridge! I just wanted to stay in Europe, so I would be closer to my family if anything happens :) I went there in summer 2018 (so I was 14) and it was the best decision of my life. I met so many people and I’m still in contact with some of them. I would recommend it to do it if you feel ready

Ik zit nu in de 2e mavo en het lijkt ook leuk om een jaar naar Amerika te gaan. Maar ik kan niet zo goed Engels als jou. Wanneer kan ik het beste gaan?( welk jaar?) (Ben nu 14 word dit jaar 15)

Fay Geen zorgen! Mijn Engels was ook lang niet zo goed als nu hoor ;) Ik ben na mavo 4 gegaan dus ik was 16 en had mijn diploma al. Het is voor iedereen anders en er is geen echt beste leeftijd als het maar tussen de 15 en 18,5 is :) Maar super leuk dat je dit ook wil gaan doen!

Linda Brouwers Ja!! Een kennis van mij gaat het volgend jaar doen. Ik ben bang dat ik niet genoeg Engels kan om naar Amerika te mogen. Of maakt dat niet uit? Als ik mijn mavo af maak ben ik 17 in juli dus dan ben ik denk ik te laat? Want ben nu al 14 word 15 in juli? Kan redelijk engels door films te kijken. Je zei in een video dat je films moet kijken met engelse ondertiteling maar ik kan engelse zinnen wel verstaan maar sommige woorden niet. Dit lijkt me zoooo leuk maar als ik er naar toe ga ben ik bang dat school moeilijk is? Is school moeilijk? Als ik er heen ga wil ik daar ook een diploma halen en prom mee maken♡ Love your ytchannelxxx

Fay Je engels hoeft echt niet vloeiend te zijn hoor, dat leer je daar wel! Je moet jezelf wel verstaanbaar kunnen maken, maar je hebt nog even om te leren op school. 17 is zeker niet te oud! De meeste studenten zijn zelfs 16 of 17 volgens mij! Om heel eerlijk te zijn ken ik ook nog niet alle woorden als ik met engelse ondertiteling een film kijk, maar dat is heel normaal want in het Nederlands ken je toch ook niet ALLE woorden hahah :) Als je ook een high school year gaat doen dan kan er nooit gegarandeerd worden dat je een diploma gaat halen en met prom mee mag doen. Maar zelden krijgen een echt high school diploma maar je krijgt bij EF in ieder geval een certificaat dat je het hebt gedaan. Meeste studenten kunnen prom ook gewoon doen maar ik kan het je niet 100% beloven.

Fay School kan je zo moeilijk en makkelijk maken als je zelf wilt. Je kan al je vakken zelf kiezen en je zit niet vast aan een vakken pakket zoals hier. (Yay) Je moet wel Engels en Geschiedenis maar als je het moeilijk vind dan kun je gewoon Engels 1 pakken ipv Engels 3 en stel je bent heel goed in wiskunde kun je wiskunde 4 doen bijvoorbeeld. Dus je kan het zelf lekker leuk maken :)

Linda Brouwers ik zag op een filmpje dat ze met zoke hoeden gooien als ze geslaagd zijn dat lijkt me leuk! Maar wanneer mag je niet mee doen met prom?

Based on my experience I cannot recommend Eduction First. I had a great time meeting people from different countries but there are other language schools that offer much better language courses. I spent some months in France and Germany and the courses offered by the Alliance Française and Goethe Institut were better structured and the teachers managed to teach the local language in an entertaining way which was way less academic than in education first. The results after a few months in EF were not that great. You are going to have fun and meet people anyways so try to choose courses that are better structured.

Was ook zeker als een compliment bedoeld hoor! Net een aantal van je videos gekeken, echt heel tof. Ben je nu weer bezig met het vwo in NL? Misschien leuk om je channel voort te zetten (niet perse videos over exchange), als je daar zelf zin in hebt natuurlijk :)

MartinJ Dankjewel! Ja ik wil graag een hbo studie volgen dus heb ik er voor gekozen om nog 2 jaar Havo te doen. Dat wil ik ook zeker doen. :) Maar ik heb nu iets minder tijd voor het maken en editen door school. Maar ik blijf dit wel doen wanneer ik ergens heen ga. :)
