Guinea pigs are social animals and roamers so I'm glad you got two, but they need a large area to roam about, not just a cage! Congrats Bella and Savannah!!!
@Sara Jundi they are social i had one and i rescued it and thee lady at the rescue told me when you get one you have to get 2 because they're social and can get lonely.
It would be so cool to make one of those cages that have long tunnels. They could be made so the tunnels go all around the room, up and down, with larger spaces at intervals for them to rest, exercise, eat, or just chill. It would make their rooms look fun too.
As someone whos had many Guinea Pigs here's some suggestions: -2 Guinea Pigs and triple check they are the same gender -Large but very secure hutch outdoors -they can get smelly as they poop alot -if an out door hutch isn't an option I highly highly suggest to get a play pen for outside as they adore the grass -be sure they don't overheat as they are delicate animals -water bowl is far better than water bottles -they can be escape artists so be careful -they can bite but its not bad -lettuce can cause bowl issues but it's okay for them to have a little bit -Most seeds in fruit and veg are toxic -I had one dog who just loved watching them and was good with them and one that was desperate to get them and probably would have killed them so be careful. -they can be very very loud -they scratch you easy -mine loved being help like a baby and crawling in my hair -they are fast -can vary in size -yours look young to me but they could just be smaller ones (I had smaller piggies) Edit: also that's probably one of the worst pens for then
Guinea pigs can not have Ice berg lettuce but red and green leaf romaine is good for them. Also for appropriate space for them each piggie should have an 8 foot by eight foot space.
Definitely make sure they’re the same gender. I had two “male” gerbils… one of my male gerbils got pregnant and had 9 babies… who knew! The pet store told us that gerbils needed a buddy and that these two were a pair. LIES.
@@twaceyloo yes! Haha me saying that was also from personal experience. My first two Guinea Pigs I got my mum picked them up from a family friend who has a lot of Guinea Pigs and my mum was told they were 2 girls. Yes I trust this family friend I just think she did a quick look at a young age which is hard. Any way .... A month later HIS parts start to make them self's present and I legit was confused I was like muuum why is Moonies under neath bigger than Cocos lol. Any way this was out first time with Guinea Pigs and given they were a bonded pair and she was clearly pregnant we decided we would separate Moonie (brother & dad) as soon as the babies are here.... The baby's were born over night first thing in the morning we separated them.... She gave birth sometime between 12am & 6:30am and ALREADY GOT PREGNANT AGAIN.... So yea : / Not good. I'm not saying this in a positive way or whatever I'm just showing how important it is to be sure because these gals breed like wild fire
The look on Bella face when you mentioned Guinea Pig. She looks so happy. One thing about Guinea Pigs is, you have to make sure their cage is dry. They shouldn't be walking on top of urine.
Right! Urine will burn their pads on their feet. We get a huge bag of wood show shavings from the feed store. Much cheaper than the pet stores & Walmart.
Savannah just makes me smile. You can tell how much she loves and trusts you, Crystal. ( and she’s quite the daddy’s girl too ). Permanency and unconditional love is transformative !!!
When I was in college, my roommate got 2 hamsters (which was not allowed by the dorms), and we named them Fish and Turtle- two animals that WERE allowed in the dorms 🤣🤣 We never got caught 😁
The sound they were making is called a purr. This is a happy sound for Guinea pigs. They are also very smart. My son’s Guinea pig used to spit her food towards the clock radio to turn the music on. Congratulations on your two new fur babies.
@@GrannyHugs Yes she would turn the clock radio on to have music all day while he was at school. We watched her do this and couldn’t believe it either at first. She would also spit food at him to get his attention when he was studying in his room. Very smart Guinea pig. RIP Ivorina.
@@ckstephens52 aww your guinea pig sounds cute and definitely smart. Wish I could see a vid of the it turning the radio on. I’ve read that guinea pigs don’t live very long, what’s their average life span?
Definitely recommend upgrading the habitat asap to be way bigger the pig room on RU-vid are super helpful if you want to learn how to set up and everything also make sure they have at least one hideout each to avoid fighting over that and provide them with plenty of veggies in addition to hay and pellets I’m sure the girls will be great piggie parents
some tips on guinea pigs. You guys are going to do awesome!! 1. guinea pigs DO bite sometimes 2. they need a much larger cage than most people new to piggies think like at least 10 square feet (bare minimum) 3. they do still need yearly vet checkups though most people new to piggies dont think this is the case (make sure you find a small pet savvy vet) 4. they need lots of toys and enrichment and daily veggies 5. Water bowls are better than water bottles (easier to clean, easier for the animal to drink) 6. most guinea pigs dont really like being held (playing on the floor with the leg wall is a great idea!) 7. Guinea pigs are noisy and smelly 8. a "helicopter" noise means unhappy piggy You guys are going to be great piggy parents!
My Guinea pig loves being held. He prefers it versus roaming around on the floor actually! I think this is a general set of rules but it also depends on the pig itself, they’re all different with unique characteristics. Some pigs can’t be put with other because they’ll fight, they prefer human interaction versus other Guineas. Just depends! Great notes though!!!
Bella looked so happy when you told her she could have a guinea pig it was great. Savannah was surprised when you told her she was going to get on too it was great. And then Jake came in and wanted to know where his new dog was - I felt sorry for him! Please give your guinea pigs more room than that cage you have - it's too small. I had guinea pigs and they need room. Also guinea pigs do bite so make sure Aurora is very careful around them. I love that you got the girls the guinea pigs.
I know you mentioned upgrading the cage when they get bigger but even for baby piggies the minimum is 7.5 square feet which is much bigger than pet stores usually recommend sadly! And even the minimum is thought to be too small in the guinea pig community with the recommended being at least 10 square feet for 2 piggies, my pair are currently in 12 square feet and I still believe their home is too small bud i sadly cant upgrade any further at the moment as I don't have the space :( but anyway my whole comment was basically to recommend c&c cages! They're so much cuter and you can make them any size you need them to be as they're customisable, they are slightly harder than a pet store cage but provide a much better life for the piggies which I'm sure any owner would love to provide their pets 🥰 I hope this is helpful and I hope you love your piggies as much as I love mine because they're such great pets!
Oh and also, I strongly advise not getting them from pet stores in the future, they breed in such bad conditions and often don't even health check the pigs before selling them - there are already thousands of piggies in rescues that really need a home so it would be much better to either get them from a rescue or if you want another baby then an ethical breeder. I hope I'm not coming across in a bad way here - I'm just trying to help give the piggies the best life they could possibly get! Love all your videos ❤️
@@CrazyPieces aww I'm so glad you replied! If you want any RU-vidr recommendations who have great guinea pig care I really recommend Autumn Grace, AlyssaNPets and The Pig Room!
@@tiffanykrause2529 from the research that I have done myself (not claiming to be a professional, just google 😂) the human society for guinea pigs US, the rspca UK and Kavee cages which is a respected guinea pig cage store all claim that 7.5 square feet is the bare minimum. Obviously it’s all personal choice but I’ve always advocated at least the legal minimum 😊
That cage is small, what I recommend is C&C cages, they come in 1 foot but 1 foot grids and you can build your own cage pretty much. For 2 Guinea pigs they can be in a 8 square foot cage. So a 4 by 2, If you go with a C&C cage. Another thing is that if you don’t want to buy bedding like 4 times a month, use fleece. It will make it more comfortable for the Guinea Pigs and you can just throw them in the washer. And make sure you are spot cleaning everyday if you don’t there is a chance they can get sick.
I would definitely take them to the vet to make sure they are both boys! I got a little guinea piggy when i was younger and my sister got one, they were both supposed to be boys, and then they had 10 babies! Also they make those noises when they're happy!
Idea to give the Guinea Pigs more space, get an inclosure that will fit in that small space that separates Hanna and hallies room from Savannah and Bella’s! This way they have a ton of space!
I've had a guinea pig that would bite sometimes so have little kids be careful around his mouth. Make sure you handle him frequently so he gets used to human contact!
I'm so happy to see that you bought a second guinea pig in the end. They are social animals and need another one to not feel lonely, just like us. In some countries it is even forbidden by law to only buy one because it is really cruel for the animal. But buy them another house. They need something not see through. They want a safe place just like us and we wouldn't want to live in a glass house where everybody can watch us too. The house should have two entries, so on guinea pig isn't blocked in by the other. And be careful that there aren't any cleft where there claws can get stuck. They can panic and rip of there claw and hurt themselves really badly.
With Bella having to look after the boys and now that responsibility is lifted, the guini pig will probably fill that void for her, ur excellent parents
I use to have Guinea pigs and I loved them!! Just a tip 🙃 most cages they sale for “Guinea pigs” are way to small!! Building one is so much better and you make it your own! There’s so many different ways to build them. Just look up diy Guinea pig cages and pick one you like! ❤️ I love your family and congratulations on the new piggies 😚
@@CrazyPieces so happy you guys are willing to learn! RU-vid is the best teacher sometimes for small animals 🙂🙂🙂 I learned so much about hamsters from RU-vid.
Watching the piggies run so quickly between everyone's legs, made me feel badly that their cage was so small and they had no place to roam. I do think they need a much larger cage and lots of toys too. They are very cute!
Couldn't ya'll get a dog kennel Mattie size, put a bottom either in it or under it for cleaning. Build them a ramp & loft. A few guinea pig toys & let them grow.
you don't nessisairily need to size up the cage to much... you do know you can get fences, and let them roam around outside of their cage right, not a huge cage needed.
Bella always acts so surprised and appreciative when anything good happens to her. Makes you wonder what that beautiful child has been thru. God bless you and Aaron.
Bella is such a beautiful soul. She is so sweet. Before we met her I thought she was going be so different. She is such a great addition to the family.🥰🥰🥰
I had Guinea Pigs growing up! We thought we got 2 females but oops 😬 ended up with 3 more! But they will definitely can bite if threatened or scared. They have teeth and will use them like any other animal if they feel the need. Congratulations on the new pets! ❤
When we had Guinea pigs, those noises were usually indicative of them being happy. They used to get super excited whenever someone got in the fridge, they’d stand up and squeal, hoping they’d get some fruit or veggies.
Bella is so freaking cute!! I love how well the new kids fit into the family, feels like they have been in the family for years and years! LOVE this vlog! :)
remember to take the guinea pig to walk in your room! it can be really bad if they don't exercise enough. 2 hours at least i would recommend!! congrats on the new fam members!
So glad to see you got Guinea pigs! They’re the absolute sweetest animals! I’m so glad you went back and got another! I made that mistake my first time and it was very hard to introduce them later in life. The one thing I always stress to new owners is HAY!!! LOTS AND LOTS OF HAY! Guinea pigs teeth constantly grow and without hay/wood toys to break them down, they can overgrow. Which can cause lots of health issues and even death.
I always have had cats and dogs together. I am so happy Bella got an actual animal that she can hold and pet. I know she wanted a dog from previous videos. So this was a good idea. Happy for both Bella and Savannah. Congrats girls 🎊🎉So happy for you.
I have 9 Guinea pigs currently and have had them for YEARS! I trust you will do your research. They require a lot more care than people think. I’m here if you need ANY information AT ALL! They are definitely my passion and I can answer any questions. Congratulations on your new pets!
Guinea pigs do better when they live with other guinea pigs, so getting another one so he is not lonely it's great, also making sure you get them either both males or females, because otherwise you will get lots of them haha I looove guinea pigs, had many over the years and they're the best pets 💖 Just finished watching the video and I am so happy you got 2, they're gonna be so happy together, also please research about C&C cages, they're the best for them, and easier to clean too, guinea pigs need space to run and have fun whenever you're not playing with them :)
I had two boys together from the time they were little and they got along great but once they became adults one would attack the other even though they had big nice cages and plenty of food so I had to separate them, girls might do better in pairs or a neutered male with a female
The Guinea pigs are so cute I had 2 growing up and I loved mine. But some pet stores mix up the genders so I’d make sure before so they don’t have babies! Plus I’d get a bigger cage so they have room to run because they will get aggressive if they don’t have enough room. But other than that I’m glad you did research because most people don’t❤️
It's great that the girls have their own pets. One thing I would say is please do lots of research on guinea pigs. Many people think they're really easy and take care of them properly. 5 important things they need are Lots of hay, fresh clean water, fresh safe to eat veggies, vitamin c and enough space to run around. Looking faward to watching fish and oreo.
I recommend getting the guineapig checked out at the vet because lot of times guineapigs that come from pet stores come sick and I recommend you get your guineapig a play mate they do well in pairs not alone and get a big cage so he has lots of room to run around I have 2 guineapigs Bernard and moose and make sure you feed lots of vegetables and fruit and lots of hay
I LOVE CRAZY PIECES to PIECES! Having a pet teaches responsibility. Love that ya'll get a pet for those who are ready for being pet-parents. Congratulations Bella, you are a pet parent for the 1st time, naming him FISH. YEAH! Hannah's Oreo is a big dude by comparison.
I’m glad you got two, they’re really social animals! Also they are great to have run around in the room cause they need the exercise and space but also are easy to pick up usually :)
I had 2 Guinea pigs for 7 years (basically during my teenager years) and they were the bests. I could hug them any Time, and they made me happy during my worst periods of my life and I was really grateful having them. I hope they will bring as many happiness to your family as mine 😍😘🐹
The noise that Bellas guinea pig was making is very normal. It means that it is happy. So dont worry if it makes that noise. Thats also how the animals will communicate. Congrats!! Love your family!!
Rats are one of the favorite pets I’ve ever owned. You definitely need to make sure you get the same sex though. We got our 3 at petco and were told they were all boys. Turns out one was a girl and one got pregnant. They would watch tv with us and loved hanging out with us. But definitely should own more than one just like Guinea pigs?
My best friend has two rat (remi and spike) they are amazing pets! I would love to have my own however I have a ratting bred dog so it just wouldn’t be safe for them unfortunately:)
speaking as someone who as guinea pigs, you should definitely update their cage sooner than later. guinea pigs need a lot of space to run and popcorn around. especially having male guinea pigs they need more space because they tend to get more territorial of their space and can get aggressive towards each other.
also the sounds they are making is called purring. it is a good sign that they feel content with each other, but keep in mind guinea pig bonds can definitely break and having them in such a small cage can cause that. just trying to educate! also advise taking them to the vet to get a check up just to ensure that they are both boys and to ensure there are no health issues. guinea pigs are good at hiding when they are sick because they don’t want to seem weak since they are prey animals.
The noise the guinea pigs were making is actually them talking to each other. I had a guinea pig when I was younger and he would talk to me all the time it's the cutest thing ever
You can potty train them to go potty in one part of the cage. Also look into the multi layer cages to give them more space but not take away from your square footage
The little fruit flies come out of drains!!! I have the same issue. I use baking soda and vinegar in my drain (old tip from grandma) and I keep my drains plugged its helped alot!
Yes they do need a much bigger cage. You guys are gonna do great with them but to thrive thet will need space to run. They also need fresh veggies twice a day that includes a source of vitamin C. Peppers are great. Along with the main part, lettuce
My son had 2 Guinea pigs when he was in high school. One was black with a white middle around him. His name was also Oreo. And his “brother”, was a solid cream color with black ears. His name was double stuff, “DS” for short. DS was very personable and loved being with humans, especially my son. When my son was 15, he was DX with cancer. (Thank GOD he’s now been in remission 10yrs). However, his oncologist said he could not have the Guinea pigs in the house, while going through chemo and his resistance very low. That broke my sons heart! My daughter, who lived in the next town over, going to college, living with grandparents, and Granny decided to keep the GP’s at their home and daughter take care of them, until son can have them back. They lasted about a year before both died within weeks of eachother.
When I was a kid I had a family of guinea pigs...mom, dad and 3 babies...they were all black and I loved them so much...loved the noises they made. Im sure you are going to love that little cutie.
I'm glad you got two Guinea Pigs instead of the one. They're super social animals and do better as pairs/groups. I grew up with multiple as a kid. I would suggest upgrading to a bigger cage sooner rather than later and finding a safe spot for them to roam where the doggies can't get them, even buying a little outdoor play pen off Amazon is great so they can run around. Often times what pet stores recommend getting as a cage isn't big enough at all. And don't be put off by their squeaks, that's a good sign! It's their way of communicating. Also would advise handling them as much as possible, it gets them used to human interaction, so they won't be as nervous, especially with the little ones! Congratulations to Savannah and Bella! Having a pet is the best thing ever! Hope you and the entire family enjoy your new little members!
I have a Guinea pig and they are so interesting to have !! They do popcorn when they are very excited , so don’t get scared :) , when they whine they are also happy but sometimes want something, when they figure out the cage bars they will start biting it so always have something for the to chew on in the cage ♥️
I agree. I had a Guinea pig of my own, and I had a cage twice as big for one guinea pig. You want them to have lots of rooms to relax, play, and have it feel like home. Get vitamin drops for water Get treats and toys. And hay toys which are also treats Salt blocks Feed them veggies, look online for what you can give them.
For Hannah’s red hair, I have red hair and you have to wash it once or twice a week with cold water and red shampoo and conditioner as it maintains the red color! The more you wash it and if you use shampoo that contains sulfate it can damage your hair and strip the color away! Cute pets btw!! (๑>◡
oooo guinea pigs are the hardest animal i’ve ever owned. going out and purchasing an animal at will is never a good choice they have extensive requirements diet and housing wise. id get a 3rd one while you can 3 is always ideal incase one passes so none are left alone. they need 8 square feet uninterrupted not including stairs or anything +2sqft per pig. they need cage cleans daily as they each poop 100-300 times a day, they also can not walk on their urine or they will get infections in their feet. constant access to hay it’s just as important as water for them, they also need constant veggies. please make good choices you guys have more than enough money and recourses for the proper education. guineas can live 8 years it’s a big commitment please do right by them .
Hate to be that person but even for young Guinea pigs they need a cage also bigger than that but they are so cute and I’m sure you will look after them very well
Glad to see theres already a lot of comments about proper guinea pig care - I really hope you guys do your research and make sure you give them the appropriate amount of space and look into the animal's behaviour so you are able to recognize when they are stressed and scared!
I've had a guinea pig 4 years of my life !!♡ Give him love, a lot of fresh grass (its better than hay grass), give him different fruits and vegetables, they need food all day to be calm and healthy !! ♡ things I wish I had known before I had them: • When they are happy they do "pop corn" and it's so cute ♡ • They are noisy when they want food ♡ • They sleep with their eyes open until they gain confidence !! It can take months, it's normal ♡ • They love you forever ♡ Important tips: • Give him a quiet place, loud noises, screams or loud music can be very dangerous for the animal! •never cut his nails at home, a professional will be able to do it better!! (They have veins on their toes that should be seen before clipping their nails, especially if their paws are dark) •let him run on the grass or in safe places, he will need to exercise and get out of his cage every day, at least 10 minutes. Love u !! Bye ♡♡
We had a gp when my kids were young. They had so much fun with them. The only problem you have to clean the cage constantly or it stinks bad. A rabbit is also a good pet. They are so sweet and love to be loved on.
Congrats on the new pets! I have a MidWest Guinea pig habitat (it has a green canvas bottom if you’re looking) from Amazon and my Guinea a pig is so happy with it! I just put it on top of wire storage cubes so it’s high up for easy excess and away from dogs. (Also my reaction was the same the first time I learned they make a noise) :)
The chirpy noice Fish was making is an excited noise, ours used to make it when we went to feed them in the morning. And the purry noise when we strocked their noses
PLEASE do alot of research on the guineapig, alot of stuff at the pet stores arent good for them health wise like food and such, they can also be ill so def check out at vet... they also need to be in pairs usually and bigger cages than petstore cages. they need daily fresh veggies as well. just please do your research on it! AND DEF KEEP AN EYE ON THEM, putting them together so soon can be very deadly if they dont like eachother. pigs need bonding which is put together and watched for 8 or more hours.
Guinea Pigs DO bite. They're just not typically inclined to do so if they are comfortable. Hamsters are small little guys so they feel more threatened more often. Guinea pigs are great pets, but they aren't happy in little cages!
Bella remember this the floor trips you all the time, the tables and chairs are bullies, and the walls they are jumping out at you all the time. I'm a clutz too. Welcome to carrying a first aid kit everywhere.
I have Guinea Pigs and the noises they make are normal it's how they communicate ❤️ and since their both the same gender than they will get along so well! They like to have like a "support person" of their own kind... So making the decision to get another one was great !! 🤗
Please have Ariana be careful in Mexico . There is no drinking age there so 18 year olds are aloud to drink but you never know who is watching or around . Not to scare you or give you anxiety but tell her to always be aware of her surroundings especially if she is obviously an American
As a proud guinea pig mum I am happy to see you adopting two piggies. At first I was shocked though, because they sold just one to you. But I am glad they are a pair now. And so happy to see they get along. They will fight about food though. They always do. Have fun with them!
My niece worked at Petco as a student intern at the age of 16 for a year. While she was there, they got a shipment of piggies. One of them was pregnant. She was able to adopt all three of the babies, Mollie, Minnie and Maddie. She was hired on the spot when she turned 18 and became the animal care specialist, now she works in a Veterinarian Hospital. When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2016, I had gone into her store. They had a male piggy that was being bullied by another male. Nobody wanted him, so the Manager gave him to me to have as a Service Piggy during my recovery. His name was Mickie. All four of the piggies were adorable and snuggled. The 3 girls had a cage next to Mickie's cage. Minnie and Mickie would coo to each other all the time. They had supervised playtime. Popping is what they do when they're happy. Sadly, Minnie is the only one living today and she's almost 7 years old and is blind. They make wonderful pets!! Make sure you give them their fruits and vegetables. Ours loved Cara and Blood Oranges. Good luck and have tons of fun with them. PS...they like swimming in the bath tub!! Make sure they get their nails clipped and have dental appointments too. ❤🐹🐷❤
As a former owner of a guinea pig, be aware, they chew/ eat just about anything! And they might pee easily as well when you hold them!! And they must have hay! Timothy hay!!!! It aids digestion! They can get clogged up and it's super dangerous to them! They are so adorable and will be the best and most enjoyable pet!
Please please please don’t follow petco’s advises. More often than not they don’t know about proper care, specially when it comes to small animals. Please do extensive research on adecuate floor space, guinea pig buddies, food, water, hay, etc. to give these guinea pigs the life they deserve! 🥺😊
I understand the fruit fly problem. They are attracted to moisture. I deal with them every summer, I went to the Dollar store and bought a cheap salt shaker, filled it halfway with apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap, put the cap back on and place it where they're seen the most. They can get into the holes, but can't come back out. You can also use the sticky mouse traps, just make sure the pups can't get to them.
"From Germany..no from Europe" Haha - Germany is in Europe. I'm glad the girls are learning responsibility with pets, but please please do your research on an animal before you go to pick one out at the pet store.
When it comes to a living creature that you are now responsible for, I don’t find the lack of knowledge cute or funny. I understand that it is all exciting and your heart is in the right place, but impulse purchasing a new family member without any research because you want something NOW, and you couldn’t wait for the fish tank to be set up, is not a good look. Maybe I have it all wrong, but the way that this video was put together seemed irresponsible and I sincerely hope that you’ve done your research and will do your research before making a commitment like this in the future. This comment is not meant to hurt any feelings, but this video was genuinely hard to watch, I’m sorry.
Again, being rude is not my intention. Like I said, maybe it’s the way that the video was put together. Although completely adorable and exciting, it can really give off the wrong impression.
Your comment did have rude undertones but I understand what you are saying and it's out of concern for the babies that are helpless. But she did say that she did a ton of research and is making changes based off that research and not just taking what the pet store said as law. Honestly most people need to research because they need to understand if they can afford it. They obviously can lol.
My niece has guineas. What she was told were two males, turned out, 6 months later, one was a female. Suddenly, overnight, she had 4 of them, much to her surprise. The sounds are normal and they can get rather loud when they're hungry. Enjoy them!
How fun for Bella and Savannah! My daughter has "piggies" They actually got a male and a female and she was pregnant, so they had 3 little ones for a while, too! I think they kept three total. It has been an amazing experience for her three children. The oldest loved to come home from elementary school and feed them their veggies! Enjoy them, girls!
Guinea pigs make the greatest pets. They are so affectionate! Our current Guinea pig’s name is Potato 🥔. If you handle them a lot they totally bond to their owner. The cute noise yours were making when they were touching each other is a sound of contentment and happiness. Our piggy makes that noise when we pet him or when he runs up to be pet. It’s a great sign! You’ll love them…they really are such sweet little animals. Make sure you give them lots of greenery! Ours is especially fond of romaine lettuce and cilantro! Haha
I also a pig mom please make sure they always have lots of hay (it’s better if you will buy a hay holder for it instead of putting it on the bottom of the cage because it’s bad to eat their own urine in case if they will pee on it) and they loooove cucumbers! You need to feed them with vegetables as they need it every day. The pigs will be much happier with some cucumber, lettuce, apples and etc (you can find the food they like on the Internet). You can teach tricks with them. It works like with teaching a dog. So girls can teach the pigs treating them with small pieces of cucumber. One of the best guinea pigs food is called “versele laga cavia complete” it’s natural and most of vets recommend it. It is from Belgium but I think you can find it in the US. With love from Russia and my guinea pig Alevtina ♥️
Just for the future incase your other kids want fish, a tank needs to run with water and the filter going for at least a month to build good bacteria. You also have to test the water for things like ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites. Fish are a bit harder than most animals because they live, breathe, and eat in the same water they use the bathroom so you have to be vigilant on water quality so they don’t catch diseases. I’d recommend watching a LOT of fishcare RU-vid before getting a fish because they’re advertised as easy but it’s a LOT more in depth than just what the petstore tells you
From someone who has raised several Guinea pigs, they are very social animals and do better in pairs, however they will die of heartbreak. Once they are in a bounded pair, If one dies, the other will starve itself to death. Sooo that’s hard. My first pair were snickers and rose 🌹 almost as strange as Oreo and fish haha Also i know everyone is commenting about the big cage, and it’s true. You can find custom cage makes online who make like three story cages so you can get them a lot of space vertically rather than needing a huge area for them.
