My little cherry tomato plants were out of control this year. So we used the green tomatoes on the vines as filler. Looked pretty darn good 😃

A fireside chat I would watch would definitely be the history of pepper harrow farm - how you guys met, how you found your land, how long you have been on it, how much land it is, how many employees you have, how'd you start your website / store what you started selling first, where you want to go from here, where you got your name . stuff like that. :) Beautiful flowers guys super great job love watching your videos always.

I love deep burgundy paired with zingy lime. Coral goes great with burgundy too, so pairing up red plume orach, ninebark, verbena hastata or lysimachia beaujolais with Bupleurum, coral lisianthus, coral and lime zinnias, coral fountain amaranth... and maybe a sunflower or rich pink celosia to give it a pop

Love this video! The combos are stunning! I sell flower bouquets at the small grocery store that we own, so this was very helpful! It seems the rainbow type bouquets are the ones that sell first for me. I love to use the Queen Series Zinnias, Antique colored Dahlias, and Terracotta Celosia for a more subtle, romantic bouquet, but the "Loud" bouquets what a lot of our customers are looking for. I also love to put 2-3 Dark Purple or Burgundy Calla Lilies in the middle of a bouquet and surround them with Lisianthus and Dara. You make me anxious for Spring!! Can hardly wait for my Ranunc's and Anemones to bloom (currently in low tunnels)! Also, I have 870+ Tulips in the ground! Thanks for the wonderful content you are sharing! Keep up the great work! Many Happy Blooms!--Sarah from a snowy Lancaster County, PA --Zone 6B

Great video! When starting my Cutflower "Farm" one thing I DID NOT want to do was choose WAY too many varieties of flowers & colors, & end up with WAY too many choices. #1- people with more experience, like yall, recommended not to, & #2- I know I would end up spending too much time deciding what to put in a bouquet together 😂 & it would take me entirely too long planning the beds - how many to plant of this, how many to plant of that... I tried to stick with a few colors that I could combine in different ways & they still look good... For example: pink, purple, & yellow flowers & white & green foliage- I can do #1: all 3 colors of flowers, w/ white foliage #2: all 3 colors of flowers w/ green foliage #3: pink & purple flowers w/ white foliage #4 pink & yellow with green foliage... and so on... There are a few things I got in small quantities for some color combos that I really wanted but felt wouldn't be as popular... the one in most excited about is: salmon/coral pink, light/ sky blue & like green!

Thank you! Love your videos. Learning what to blend in my first year growing cut flowers. I am growing a lot of these but on a very small scale to start. I need Lady’s Mantle and purple Agrostemma! I like a lot of options personally, but go for more subdued pastels in spring (and throw in ammi anytime) those ruffle, lush bouquets of full tulips, perky daffs and juicy hyacinths/lilacs. In fall any dahlia autumn colors w/supporting muted fall colors and lots of texture! I always have loved the blue/gold combo in any flower arrangement too, a happy and positive combination.

What about planting cherry Laurel? And using that as an early spring greenery? And a winter greenery in a wreath. Z 7 here. In October and November, I would do some of my customers hand pruning. It would always be hedges of cherry laurels, japonicas, hollies, nandinas, hemlock and so forth. And I would make wreaths with all this left over greenery from hand pruning. And gift one to my landscaping customers that I pruned greenery from. Otherwise it would just go into the mulcher and into the compost pile. People are so used to just fir/spruce/pine type wreaths
@onetwocue
@onetwocue 3 года назад
Also hand pruning is the best way to go! Yes it's more work but the plants are healthier, your opening it up from the inside letting light in, keeps a plant natural maintained look and it's easier to get a straight line especially with a hedge and I NO KNOBBY ends that make a plant look horrible. Also when people shear, for some reason people start hard on the lower part of the plant and go soft on the top creating that ugly gumball affect on each plant. And it's so uneven on all sides.

We direct seed our sunflowers outside and only start to consider early seeding if April is really warm. It’s always a gamble to plant before your last frost date.

It can be a challenge, but it’s best harvested once it starts to go to seed and early in the AM. We bring it in, let us rest for several hours, then use in bouqs.
