I randomly found a bottle of buffalo trace about 4 months ago and it was my first bottle I purchased to make my own drinks. I was somewhat curious about bourbon after that so I went looking and found you guys. Now I’m up to 6 bottles from your recommendations and I’ve never been steered wrong. You guys are the best, please never stop!

Well fellas strap in cause it could get wild. I got into whiskey May of 2021. My shelf is about 80 bottles deep and I have finished off several more. Last September I camped outside a store starting around 4pm (number 14 in line) for a bottle release the next morning at 10. It escalates quickly. Enjoy.

@@benbellino3596 that weekend Conor O Driscoll master distiller for heaven hill was there to sign bottles so I have a Larceny BP B522, a hazmat Elijah Craig BP pick, and a mellow Corn all signed by him. Then EH Taylor SiB, Weller Full proof pick, Rock Hill Farm, the Calumet 16yr, 1729 BiB pick, Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast, and a couple of Copper and Cask bottles. Several of those were very limited. I would have had to be there before 10am on Friday to get an Old Fitzgerald 17. Other allocations are done raffle style, I've never won one of those.

Same story. Had a few bourbons, usually mixed them with ginger ale, but it was a causal thing. Now, I'm up to 25 or 30, I know where all the local liquor stores are, stashing bottles in the pantry, etc. We all know how it goes. And it's not like I am drinking more, it's about the collecting and just appreciating what I'm drinking more. Upside? My beer and wine consumption has fallen way off. Another thing, do not go and buy a fine sipping rum - it's another rabbit hole. Kurt, I see those rums on the top shelf over your shoulder every video...

Another great episode by you guys! These are hands-down my favorite types of episodes because I have discovered over time that a lot of your favorites tend to be very agreeable with me and I've learned a lot as a relatively new collector from your channel. Besides wanting to tell you that this is a great episode I want to thank you for those bits of advice especially about cultivating relationships because today one of mine paid off! I live in PA where liquor is heavily regulated and it's hard to find good allocated bottles, but I have developed a regular relationship with the manager of my local state store. Today that relationship developed fruit when he called me to tell me that they had just gotten four cases of Blanton's in. I was able to get two bottles at MSRP and paid a grand total of $121 and change. Thank you guys both once again for lighting the way for those of us just trying to start to figure this all out!

Love seeing the lists that you guys put together, almost as much as watching a blind tasting. Those are some great bottles and I have had about half of them myself. I would have bet $100 that Kurt would have Wild Turkey 101 or Russell's Single barrel on his list, but the Rare Breed is great too. I would really enjoy seeing you put out a list of your favorite whiskeys to see what would be on those lists. (Scotches for Kurt and Ryes for Trenton.....). Great show guys!!

Just wanted to say thank you Curt & Trenton, I have never drank bourbon before other than Jack on occasion. I was intrigued and enjoyed your channel so much I decided to purchase a bottle of Buffalo Trace since I walked by a pallet of it at Costco. I liked it enough to realize I want to start a journey learning to enjoy and appreciate more out of these spirits.. for what it’s worth as a beginner Buffalo Trace was a perfect entry point for me to realize there’s a lot to experience here. Thanks guys for being so forthright and keep up the great content.

Always makes me chuckle that Kurt and I must have the same preferences because my top 3 of 2022 were Discovery Series (8), Elijah Craig (C922), and Calumet 16. His Disco and EC picks weren’t the same but that’s bc I didn’t get into bourbon until those were long gone. Great vid 👍

What a great guy! Love your choices on favorites of all time. My favorites include OF 1910, Rare Breed, any EC BP. I also would pick Calumet 16 like Kurt. I keep going back to the always faithful Early Times BIB, OGD 114, and Buffalo Trace.

One of my favorite everyday drinkers is the 1792 BIB. I got a store pick single barrel BIB that easily punched up there with $100 bottles. I've enjoyed your list. I've been fortunate enough to enjoy the Rare Breed, Old Foster 1910, Old Foster 1920 (Medicinal Liquids), 1792 Single Barrel (closest I've found), and the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C922 (closest I've found). All were fantastic as was Russell's Reserve Single Barrel! The only problem that I have found was that they all seem to leak out fairly quickly. I've checked all the bottles but, the only hole that I could find was right under the cork! I just can't figure it out! I'll be keeping my eyes open for some of the other offerings as I shop for my Easter collection. On February 22nd, I will no longer be drinking until Easter Sunday. This is what makes the Easter collection so important! Cheers!

Hey guys, thank you again for all of the knowledge and entertainment your videos give me/us! For an idea on an upcoming video, I think a twist on the "5 Bottles for under $200" has been overdone, but due to the costs of hunting down great bourbons/scotches/whiskies, I think we have to look at our hobby as even more of an investment than ever before. Perhaps you both could come up with a 5 Bottles for under $400, which would definitely put an exciting twist on the idea, and I am certain will give me 5 more bottles I will have to go hunt down and buy! ;o) Thank you again for all of your videos, guys!

As an idea for a video, there are bourbons that I’ve never seen reviewed. Whistle Pig, Mattie Gladden. A lot of others that sit on the shelves at the store. You can go through Meier or any store and find dozens of examples. Every whiskeytuber reviews the OF line, WT/Rare Breed. And everybody chases the BTAC line. I have a limited space that I store in, and I’m hesitant to put $80 into a dog bottle. I depend of guys like you to steer me the right way. The other thing I’ve never seen anyone do is go through a store and go down the line and rank bottles, say 1-10 as you go. “I think this one is 7, this is a 4”. Have no idea how that would work out. Anyway, I really like this video’s lists as the choices are something I can actually find and am willing to pay my money for. Thanks for the great videos. Love your presentation style

Would love to see the rye list. Also starlight double oaked is on par with 1910 imo but everyone has different taste buds.

Thank you again for sharing this list. And thank you to Mrs. SLB for your patience with these two - don't know your last name so I'll just use the SLB if you don't mind - I'm a fairly new follower of yours but haven't missed a video since. Your reviews and recommendations have really helped me grow my list of whiskies... such that I'm running out of space... hehehe Hey, I haven't seen any Texas Whiskey in your reviews... I know you tend to stick with the more conventional Kentucky whiskies, but can you include a couple of Texas whiskies just to know what you think about them? Cheer and SALUD,

Hey Armando thank you! We did do a show called what’s up with Texas whiskey. Didn’t particularly like the few I had. Since than I have collected several more that I really enjoy! Still Austin cask strength would be my current favorite.

I'm here for the Old Forester love. Can't go wrong with Rare Breed, either. I have the 1792 Small Batch (not the BiB) and I'm not sold on it. Need to taste it again. I've never had the others.

Great video as always. I still need to try Wild Turkey Rare Breed and OF 1910 but they are hard to find out here in Utah.

Just got Old Elk last week for the first time and it’s great! I think for the money tho I’d much rather keep buying Rare Breed. VERY interested in that Bardstown Discovery 4. I’ve been seeing them in Binnys but for around $149

Kurt, those caramel candies with the creamy center...back when I was a kid they were called Bull's-Eyes. Still see them around, in fact they sell them at Menards but I think they have a different name on them now. Anyways, great show! Be well!

Nice one gents! Definitely a few of my faves on there and few I need to try. I like the concept of the videos, here are 3 more I’d vote for. 1) Ryes. 2) Bourbons including allocated bottles, I want to see if they end up in your top 5 or not. 3) Scotches, including Japanese, probably will need a different partner for this one Kurt! 😆

Thank you for the great Bourbon education! Based on your advice I have purchased 1792, and Old Forester 115. I would have purchased more but they are not available in my area. THANKS!
