Top 5 courses for me that I have played many times around the Le Touquet area: 1) Le Dunes - Golf d'Hardelot 10/10 2) Les Pins - Golf d'Hardelot 3) Belle Dune 4) La Foret 5) La Mer Le Touquet is a lovely town, beautiful beach and fantastic restaurants, plus the locals/residents are really polite and hospitable.
Been to Le Touquet 6 times since taking up golf 6 years ago. Really nice town, beach, bars and restaurants are fantastic. Playing Le Mer for first time this summer, hope it is good because after playing Les Dunes, Les Pins and Belle Dunes, it has a lot to live up to, as these three courses are superb. Also played La Foret, me personally thought that there were several average looking holes, especially the first 6 , but the golf course did get better. The New Club House and Golf Shop are probably the best though, club house and views from the 19th hole are not to shabby at Les Dunes and Les Pins. The change to the 18th hole at Les Dunes is awesome :0)
Down Under Ray, driest continent in the world, so use to brown and running but do love a lush green one that's like carpet. That La Mer course looks stunning and how convenient right next to the hotel. Sorry couldn't resist.
Fully agree with you that France is a great golf destination. I *highly* recommend the two courses at Golf du Medoc near Bordeaux and there are a bunch of other good courses in the area. Would be great to see you all playing those
Yeh it's brilliant isn't it? Love Le Manoir...very different feel to many of the hotels we stay in on our travels. Feels like you're a guest in someone's house!
I like Mark like both types of course, I also think that the fast and running courses make you have to think a wee bit more with your shot/club selection. As for France it is a lovely golf destination, Would recommend it to everyone to give it a go i was lucky enough to celebrate joining the old gits club (60) with present from the family of spending 4 days at Saint Saens hotel and golf through you guys, using the same route as you Rory but about an hour further south. Loved every minute of it.
Course condition Q: I have loved playing this summer on a number of courses where they have been sun beaten. At Leeds Golf Club I drove the 326yd par 4! How can you not like that.It just brings another dynamic to the game to embrace and I wouldn't curse the club for not watering the fairways unless it caused some issues with them for future playability.
Love a bouncy fast course, throws the good players into a panic sometimes as have to change the game considerably. Great looking courses, cheers for another destination to consider. Cheer up Locks.
Good on you Ray for pointing out how irresponsible it would be to try and water a course when the conditions are dry. I like a natural golf course. If that means brown, firm, fast then it can be a ton of fun. Vice versa, if it's been a rainy season then grab some waterproofs and get on with it. Cheers
Cheers bruh. I've seen lots of people complaining about the issue during my time here at YGT and I'm never sure why. Obviously it's nice to have a lush, green course but I actually prefer the way the courses play when nature is allowed to run its course to a large extent. The management of water supplies isn't considered by some as well. Thanks for watching, Rory
Email me at raymondo@yourgolftravel.com bruh if you need any info on setting up a trip! Belle Dune is a cool course but there are plenty more for you to try! ;-)
Haha fair enough Robbie! It's a great place to play golf...lots of other superb courses in the region too with the likes of Belle Dune, Wimereux, Hardelot Les Pins & Les Dunes etc etc all within easy reach. Email me at raymondo@yourgolftravel.com if you need any additional info bruh.
Bit of dry and brown is fairly normal for some places. Just another aspect to factor into your play. Thanks for showing the accomodation and off course stuff. This is especially helpfull when travelling with the better half.
Yup...Belle Dune is a cracking course too...not much in it between that and La Mer for me but maybe La Mer just shades it as I've played it a couple more times!
Understand Mark...as long as greens are fairly receptive I love golf when the course has a bit of run to it. More scope to play different shots rather than just drop and stop.
you have the perfect job! currently trying to convince my mates to go France for long weekend. doubt ill make it this year but looks super convenient. lol
Good vlog, courses look great. Always struggle going from summer fast running, to autumn green and lush. Never take enough club! I have only done SW France, Seignosse and Moliets which are also nice courses.
Medoc Resort (near Bordeaux) is fabulous if you are in SW France again. I don't know if you organise tours in the area but would be more than worth a look.
I love a fast and firm course mixed with greens that are a bit responsive. Not overly responsive if that makes sense. However you have nailed it there is other areas that need water before a golf course. Just cause it's brown doesn't mean it isn't in good nick :)
Exactly bruh! Brown is fine...as long as the greens are green that's about as much water as a course needs to use without going overboard and soaking the course all through the summer.
@@yourgolftravel I played el chapparal a few weeks back and it really took me by suprise how wet the course was. Kept thinking surely they are over watering this. In such an Arid area
Cafe des Sports where we always head for dinner is superb value for money...cracking food and very affordable. The clubhouse is good value for money too and the food is superb. Couldn't complain about either to be honest.
I think I've only played about 7 in total in France so it would be an easy list to make! Haha...would love to play more out there. Maybe a video for the future!
I like courses to be au natural up to a point. Tee boxes and greens for sure need watering, and courses need to be vigilant with GIR if the fairways are too dry and get cracked our really bare.
Hey Rory, love your shows. Would you dare to do some different review where its not a total review of resorts, where its more about ranking the golf and not accomodation? Golf is for everyone these days i i for one couldnt Care less about Nice clubhouses and hotels compaired to the golf experience? How about best low budget best treats. Maybe just a different Way of ranking - just a thought
La Touquet is a place I haven’t been back to since I used to fly kites professionally. Hmm must get back there now I play golf very very unprofessionally ha ha.
Calais to Le Touquet can be done in less than an hour bruh. Then Hardelot (video coming soon) is even less than that and other courses such as Wimereux are just 30 mins away. It's such an easy region to get to and from for golf!
Your Golf Travel excellent bruh. I often drive a few hours into France for my fishing trips so that’s a breeze. My pal finds it tricky leaving his kids so a trip to northern France is on the cards
