I kept thinking to myself, this is the definition of true happiness. Mother Nature, true love, and a camera to capture the memories. Thanks for sharing 👌🏼
Lovely video, thanks for sharing! Quick tip on the bear bag remember, 15 feet in the air and 10 feet away from the tree trunk and 200 feet from camp. 99% of the time you will never have a problem but you don't want to be that 1%.
Right off the start at .55 secs and many other times as well, you can see how much V loves you. That is so awesome. Love your content and I wait for your new videos :-)
I live in MN so backpacking in the mountains isn't really an option, but I've gone out west and backpacked quite a bit. Whenever I'm allowed to I'm for sure getting out to Tahoe and backpacking
Loved this man! The desolation wilderness is seriously mind blowing. Thanks for bringing us along... I know how hard it is to backpack with cameras haha. But dude, are you adding camera shake to your tripod shots of the two of you?!
Very informative. Maybe next time you could make a video on what to do with maybe extra food. How to dispose. How to wash and clean your pots etc. since it’s nature I don’t think we should be littering so the proper way of cleaning up a camp site would be nice
@@codyandvictoria It's spring rains here in SE Michigan. With our stay home orders, I been working out of our camper. It's nice to to have a workspace out of the house and away from the wife and kids. However, it is also stoking my spring fever a bit too. Been starting to try my hand making some videos from footage I shot over the last couple years. Fun thing to do while stuck home. Been doing nature photography for 30+ years (www.naturephotosonline.com), but new to video. Like your stuff I've seen so far. Can't wait to start camping and camping and backpacking again this summer.
A little tip I’ve learned over the years is try and get a sleeping bag that your sleeping pad can slide into makes for a much more comfortable nights rest. I recommend the big Agnes axl insulated sleeping pad and big Agnes lost dog sleeping bag!
some of my camping videos are the most popular. we have backpacking stuff but we love car camping, not so much glamping but its getting there. Hammocks are thew way to go always! you two are beasts walking up the falls with packs on.
Just enjoyed watching my first Cody Blue video. Beautiful scenery! Look forward to seeing a rock climbing video soon and maybe go climbing or hiking with you two someday near Tahoe.
Great video! As a videographer, I usually watch for all things video but LOVE Tahoe and specifically the 50 corridor you are exploring. Up from Sacramento every few weeks to camp and hike. I havent made it up and over to south lake since all of this craziness! Miss me some Basecamp pizza, Himmel Haus, and Sprouts! I am trying to buy a home/cabin in Strawberry. This video absolutely made my morning. Your videos always great and some of my favorites! Thanks for sharing, guys!
Ya coffee arrow press now that's the to make backpacking fun, thank you it a was fun to go with you on an adventure. It takes time to find the right spot to pitch a tent for a good night sleep. watch some PCT videos for information on any questions about backpacking JoP
I know Cali has great weather, but it would be interesting to learn how you handle your camera gear when it's wet out. Or do you just not bother shooting when it's coming down? I have the same camera set up as you, but living in the PNW area I end up keeping mine in a dry bag for a lot of me hikes/camps. Thanks for bringing us along on another trip!
Nice trip! Lounging on the hammock while reading in the midst of the alpine is so nice. Just another tip for food storage: I'd invest in a bear resistant food bag or bear canister in such areas where it's impossible to hang food bags properly. Bears can climb after all and are quite tall when stood up. Looking forward to see more trips!
Oh how I miss Twin Bridges and Horsetail Falls! A definite piece of heaven up there. Have you hiked up around Loon Lake up Ice House? Absolutely beautiful! Oh, and Wrights Lake! One of my favorite places.
Hey man, I just found your channel looking at the A6600. I absolutely love your colors (and content lol). I have a drumming channel so it's a nice break from my normal flow. I'm looking at the A6600 for the record time, where I could just set it, start it, and leave it for a whole concert. Thanks for the camera content, but enjoy vlogs like this a lot!
this is amazing and makes me want to get out backpacking ASAP! also - im blown away the talking parts on this were filmed with a go pro. did you have an ND filter on? i wouldn't have even noticed had i not saw the reflection in your glasses/shadows a few times.
@@codyandvictoria wow i can't believe it looked that good without one in such harsh daylight! i just bought one but haven't gotten a chance to test it yet, but after this i'm stoked!
Looks like so much fun! Wish I could get out and camp right now, hopefully soon! I was wondering how you got some of the tripod shots of you and Victoria to almost look handheld? Gives it a good authentic vibe! Cheers
Yo! We LOVE the video! Can we ask how you guys made your handheld vlogging setup so stable? From the reflections from your shades it looks like you're holding your camera on some sort of stick?
14:43 "Did you sleep okay?" Says Cody. "Yaaah... I was f*** uncomfortable and freezing cold." Says Victoria. 🤔😂😂👍 Nothing worse feeling so rooted after a bad sleepless night. I did the South Cape walk in Southern Tasmania during wet season. I wasn't cold and slept like a log. Get better sleeping bags, mattress and maybe a snow tent. Those sleeping bags are I guess woefully inadequate. Next time spend $300~$400 on a much better sleeping bag. 100% Goose down would be much better.
Great video! Thank you for the backpacking advice! My biggest goal for this summer was to invest into backpacking gear and take some trips. Unfortunately, my girlfriend is not the most outdoorsy person, but she says she will give it a shot so hopefully she likes it. If not, looks like I'm rolling solo
Do you ever worry about your vehicle getting broken into at a trailhead while backpacking? I worry about this because I have all my gear with me on a month long trip. I hate leaving my vehicle while away overnight.
Highly recommend. I wanted to for a few years until I finally just went for it. It's not as hard as it seems. Super good way to change things up and get out of routine
