I came to South Africa at the age of 16 From America and i went to a private school in Kzn ,i did Zulu and Mandarin , and i can hold conversation in isiZulu now.IsiZULU helped me get closer to the natives of this country
@@siyabongangamlana2381 No my parents are South African but i hardly spent time with them .I was staying with an Italian family in Brooklyn ,only saw them after a long time .I hated that but i understood years later as to why they did that .
If they learn to speak isiZulu they'll also be able to speak 1. IsiNdebele 2. Isixhosa 3. Iswati. It's a great investment. English is also my first language and learning isiZulu changed the game for me.
This video touched my heart man. God bless that girl that kept checking up on Chase in every class. Every parent's prayer for their child starting at a new school is for them to be protected and guided by their guardian angel
This is the nicest video I have ever watched. My joy is seeing our girl Chelsea this happy and excited and she already made more friends on the very first day. This girl is got it. I used to think she was an introvert but I see she coming out. It’s beautiful to watch. I would recommend that she takes Zulu. She will enjoy it and it will help her to easily communicate with her peers and she will learn a lot about culture which will make her stay here more beautiful. About students getting up to greet teacher when they walk in, it’s a sign of respect and it’s a culture that is preserved in our school. I am watching for the second time and I feel this video is too short. You should have let the kids continue. This is an unfinished business , you still owe us 😂.I can’t wait for part 2 ❤
Zulu is the most spoken language in South Africa. Learning Zulu you'll automatically understand Xhosa, the second most spoken language which is similar to Zulu
27:15 yes saphaza it means scatter. ilanga - is a sun inyanga - is a moon You always begin with the vowel ' i ", when you talking about a " thing " just like in English when you use " it " but when you are talking about the person, you begin with " u ".
Ita very nice to listern to ur kids, they are soo cute and beautiful....I will suggest Zulu as the language, because with isiZulu u can go to every corner of SA and even outside of SA neighboring countries, majority of people understands it.
Black Americans are Rock Stars in Africa - especially South Africa. All the best at school. Prefects assist in discipline and running the school. Its a leadership position and training for the older students...
They gonna be great here in SA, thank you guys for bringing these kids to the mother land they look like they will love it here. I had both smiles and tears on their impression, I wish most African Americans can come back to Africa for good.
Honestly this was actually great, I wouldn't mind if it was an hour long until they finished their story. Kids are usually curious and will ask many questions at school when new students arrive. I'm happy that their first day went well. Will be looking foward to the next video
I'm back again, so this is the first day of school i ever heard that was so positive. But can i just say i looooove to hear Chelsea say, "and Mommy." It warms my heart.
The other advantage of choosing isiZulu is that she’ll be able to understand and communicate with people who speak isiXhosa, isiNdebele, and IsiSwati….
Love this . I hope she ends up taking Zulu . its such a beatiful language and I think being in south Africa its a huge advantage because most people speak and understand Zulu
I am glad school went well for you guys. Hope you guys will enjoy it and learn and grow in South african school. There are plenty of teachers with a passion to teach kids.
Study Zulu it will make your life way much more easier in terms of building relationships and you can use it in daily life which will assist in learning it quicker
😂😂😂 never laughed like that, when you said as you were entering the class the kids stood up to greet the teacher and you were like whose this guy, how special is he😂😂😂, but yeah it’s normal that when the teacher enters the class the kids would do that. You just killed me hahaha❤
Ncooh man this is sweet and cute at the same time to see the kids enjoying themselves and integrating well with other kids their ages. The second most spoken language outside English in South Africa is isiZulu, I think it would be beneficial and exciting to learn vernacular languages
Looks like the kids had a blast at school, be careful they must just say Mommy we going to school on a weekend 😂😅Chase is saying no my goodness, he wants to write a book about his first day in school 😅😮
@@OurJourney2SouthAfrica back when I used to be super obsessed with the USA I also spoke with an American accent for some time lol I was a mess , that was only because I had no friends so I would make friends online with American people lol only one American friend stuck tho she lives in Philly
Welcome to South Africa guys, kindly learn Zulu, by learning it only you gone know Swati, Ndebele and Xhosa these languages are very versatile are like.
I am so happy to see our brothers and sisters move back to the mother land. Y'all are welcome and let us build this beatifull continent together. Africa is the future
I would advise learning both languages if possible as both will be useful when she finds herself in different spaces in the country. South Africa has 12 Official languages. But for academic purposes I would advise her to take isiZulu, the poetry, culture and idioms are unmatched. Welcome home family! ❤❤
Zulu/ IsiZulu was a good choice for the girl, would be better for the boy too. Not because I speak IsiZulu but it is the most widely spoken language in South Africa. Most significantly Zulu is an indigenous (South) African language and many other languages are dialect to it. Meaning learning Zulu translate to fluency in Xhosa/ IsiXhosa, Ndebele/ IsiNdebele and Swati SiSwati (ESwatini Kingdom). Much significance!!!
as someone who doesn't speak IsiZulu, I agree. I wish I learned the language as a kid. I only know English and Afrikaans. I tried learning IsiXhosa for a while and it was way easier than Afrikaans so I wish I had the opportunity to learn IsiZulu.
@@SihleToni Xhosa, Swati, Ndebele are dialect to Zulu yet Zulu is the most popular among these. Furthermore IsiZulu is the most widely spoken indigenous language in South Africa. Which of these claims is arguable to you sir..?
I think this is absolutely beautiful. The children are still children. The welcoming from the students. In america, she would have been on an island alone. Wish my kids had this opportunity when they were younger. School can be brutal in the States.
With a Zulu tutor you'll be able to pick up on Zulu faster than Afrikaans. And the best thing is if you understand Zulu, you'll easily transition into Xhosa. I loved her day 😁
I didnt want the video the video to end😊 So cute. I'm glad they felt welcomed on their first day of school. Baby girl didnt want us to miss anything😅 She's adorable
I grew up in Africa now live in the UK. I used to hold hands with my friends all the time & it’s just friendship there even linking up hands. Just a show of how close you are with your mates. Glad you moved to Africa hope you & your kids will have amazing experiences.
Strive to learn both languages while still young. It will prove to be of enormous leverage in South Africa over time (from my liitle experience in SA)Be prepared for the kids accents to sound more or completely South African overtime....
I'm a South African living in the UK. I just discovered your channel. I enjoyed this session so much. It's great that your children are experiencing such great support from their peers. I went to a public school and the rules were equally strict. As a family, I'm sure you'll have more wonderful experiences. Welcome home. Sending you love from afar. ❤
I’s say learn 1 nguni language and 1 sotho language. Preferably, start with Zulu as it is widely spoken/understood. Then pick up sesotho or setswana after learning Zulu. That way you’ll be able to communicate with almost everyone in the country & neighbouring countries.
I love their enthusiasm, may it be beautiful experience for them. Zulu will also make you understand a bit of the other african countries languages, I get to hear most people from Southern Africa and Joburg allows for one to be an individual.
