5:57 that's not Barong but Kala or Bathara Kala which is some believe as time deity,.in here why just head, i think it is because the palace using it as Makara or guardian of holy place,.so the name should be Kalamakara. So, i think Palace has two meanings when using that symbol, first as guardian and second, a reminder that we are bound by time and karma. If we are doing good deed, then we would reap good karma but if we are doing bad deeds we also would reap bad karma. And we cannot escape from it, because we are bound by time (kala). I think that's the message that Palace wants to say. Javanese always like that, they convey messages using symbols, pictures, numbers etc. they never straightforward.😅

Personally, I think Jogja is much cheaper compared to Jakarta or Bali. Local tourists will say the same. If you explore outside of Jogjakarta (Mt. Merapi, Borobudur Temple, Solo, Jogja beaches, etc.) you need at least 1 week. Stay safe and beware of scammers everywhere!
