I came here very late. Going through all 70 videos of your boat restoration! Having spent my life in Southern California, this is all very foreign to me but I’m loving every minute. I have about 20 videos to go but I can see it’s all coming together. you guys are still doing great together which is the most important thing.

Yet another sad tale of boat construction failures primarily due to aging. You are both a credit for your enthusiasm to overcome the set backs. Once you start moving around the system and get used to the constraints imposed by the very nature of living on a boat then it's a great life style. The boat always lets you know who's boss. Keep safe warm dry and virus free.
@DanniandJoe
@DanniandJoe 2 года назад
Yeah like you say it’s mainly down to the age of the boat, which is kind of better as it’s quite rewarding giving something old a new lease of life. Hopefully once it’s up together it’ll treat us well! 😂 Really looking forward to experiencing the lifestyle!

They say the best times of owning a boat is when you buy it and when you sell it. Great job. You could drill and tap your skin tank with a 1/2inch BSP tap. Screw in a fitting. I’ve done it many times over the years when the builder has forgotten to put in a bleed nipple. Works a treat
@DanniandJoe

Tapping the tank did cross my mind, I think that may well be the permanent fix, will get a decent 1/2” tap ordered!

I know the engine and other issues must be abit of a nightmare but you are learning loads of skills and knowledge about how the boat works. Will make you less reliant on others in the future. You just need to get yourself a MIG welder now. Enjoying the content 👍👍👍
@DanniandJoe
@DanniandJoe 2 года назад
Thanks Mark! Yeah looking back on what we’ve learnt you just can’t buy that experience. Definitely looking to get a MIG and learning to weld once it’s liveable I think that’s a skill that’ll pay for itself ten fold!
@johntweats3175

This probably too late but the coolant tank bleed arrangement, looks similar to one from a domestic heating radiator. This consists of a brass screw in nut, with the bleed nipple, usually square posted, some with a slot for a flat screwdriver, in the middle. These are usually sold with a “blank” nut for the other end of the radiator. Much cheaper than replacing cooling tanks !

I’ve been giving thought to the bath. It’s evident that standing for a shower is not possible, but have you thought about installing a skylight there. Or at least a bubble type of thing or raising that part of the ceiling over the bath? It is what is done in vans and rv’s when the ceiling isn’t tall enough. Just an idea. If you like it great, if not, no worries. I do know there could be a privacy issue, unless it is framed and just raised. You could then install an exhaust fan there well.
@DanniandJoe
@DanniandJoe 2 года назад
You know what that is actually genius! Will have a look into that for sure, I’ve got an image of poking my head out for a shower and smiling at passers by 😂 will check if anything that’s being fitted to the roof would foul - well worth a look

Hi, I have a small friendly suggestion, I think you need a wider plank for walking on, it’s barely wide enough and leaves no margin for error. You could drill holes in it to make it lighter perhaps? Not too fancy or someone will nick it!
@DanniandJoe
@DanniandJoe 2 года назад
Along a lot of banks it’s not quite as much of a walk and we’re able to use the shorter plank which doesn’t feel as dangerous! I guess to go wider you’d need to rip some plywood down and laminate a few pieces together for strength
