The Endless Adventure hey guys!! Im glad you had fun travelling in the PH..Nxt time you in PH you should visit the islands of Siargao, Coron and Bantayan..and El Nido in Palawan!! Its amazing over there!! By the way, we call it "PINAKBET"-local favourite..the fishy smell on it..it had fresh or fermented shrimp paste..and whole bunch of sliced local vegs stir-fried on low to medium heat!!✌👍 enjoy!!

It’s great that you two are open minded as far as trying the different food that Philippines has to offer. Many tourists miss out on some good tasting dishes because they tend to judge the dishes by the way they look or smell. Enjoy the Philippines.
@bashersbeware

i can see why you have quite a large sub base because you two are doin it right. Lot of foreign vloggers just focus on the beach and the road travel but have ommitted the food review, which is a very essential part that makes viewers like a vid...btw, why'd Peter Parker trade the Spidey suit for a plastic hoodie hehe.. you look like Tobey Mcguire.

Yep! Virgin Island is now added to our Philippines itinerary.. thanks for that! Looks so beautiful.
@danielle6133
@danielle6133 6 лет назад
Actually, there are lots of virgin islands in the Philippines. The term isn't associated with just one island. It's given to those areas where both the population and tourism are not heavy yet. Pollution and destructive human activities are little to nonexistent they almost seem "untouched"; thus the term virgin. Trust me, there are hundreds of virgin islands here.

we were in Panglao for new year and loved it and ALL!! the Fillipino food we tried all over the Philippines was delicious and so flavorsome... always made me wonder if they used some kind of food enhancers...

steve connolly Its MSG.. Pretty common in Asia.. And dont worry its not harmful to your health... As a matter of fact it was proven just recently that its a natural ocurring umami/food enhancer and that it is safe to use and dont cause any hypertension, migraines, etc. as opposed to some health advocates proclaiming that MSG is harmful to your health etc etc bull$@'..

the trick to get a good deal for a boat for island hopping is to go with a group. you might want to check with your accommodation if they can hook you up. it's usually the best way to do it all around the country not only in Alona Beach.

the pork balls you had are called longganisa. it's Pinoy sausage, but each province (or home for that matter) has their own version. general taste profile is that it's sweet, though some regions have a garlic taste instead of being sweet.

Pinakbet is like the Philippine version of ratatouille. It's not zucchini but probably bitter melon that you saw. It usually has eggplant, squash, long beans, tomato, okra and bitter melon in that shrimp paste or fish sauce.

If your not a tight budget , grab a boat about 11:30am take it to balicasad , by the time you get there most of the other boats will be heading home and you’ll have the more private experience , ask the guide to take you snorkel with the turtles . And you can hit virgin island on the way back . Also hennan has lunch special I think it’s 750 Peso includes huge buffet and pool privileged . Also you have to do dinner on the beach.

You guys have such a positive outlook on life! You can even look beyond a downpour. I wish everyone here in California can have the same attitude. The pinakbet dish is a specialty of the Ilocos region. The base of the dish is bagoong (bah go-ong) which varies depending on the region or province. Bagoong is basically a fish sauce or shrimp paste, very salty.

I was surprised you liked the Pinakbet dish. It has fermented shrimp paste which first timers usually don't find appetizing. It's an acquired taste so I assume you've tried other similar Southeast Asian dishes before... the ones with shrimp paste or salted fish.
