A Chiangmai local here. Glad you guys are having fun. Just want to add some info about the water in the moat as people might be wondering. The city has dredged and dried up the whole circle of the moat a few days before Songkran, and refilled with fresh water. So the water is fresh (not something that had been there for the whole year). However, moat is moat. There’s mud at the bottom, plus people jumping in to fetch water, etc. As you mentioned , it’s better to protect your eyes and ears, and not let the water go into your mouth. @@TheDetourDuo yeah sure oh but I have something to remind according to Thai law according to an Thai military law all Thai men who doesn't / didn't finish the territorial defense course during the high school years ( 10 to 12th grade) has to attend the military drafting for my self I'm currently on my deferment status so I still have time to games and funs before I'm reaching 26 ( currently I'm 22 will be 23 in the next 2 months) and I have planned myself to join the army by willing because over here if you're going by on drawing system. If you lucky draw and get the red card it means you've to service for couple years and your fate will be destined by the military seniors and etc But if you got a black card yep you're free from the anxiety cause you got the exemption ( but I will have my Bachelor degree status which will help me gaining a privilege to service for only 6 months and also can choosing any kind of troops inside Bangkok Land Air & Sea and yeah my hometown is here)
You get a little cold by time the sun sets but everyone is so happy you kind of forget. The festivities are supposed to stop at sunset until the next day. Of course not everyone gets that memo. During the day it's so hot that the only time you feel cold is when someone throws a bucket of freezing ice water
