Li is a star performer in Chinese opera where a male singer sings the female roles. This performance is where the emperor is sentencing Li to death but they are enjoying a last drink together as he was a favourite before. Dimash and Li squeezed in the diva dance too. Amazing.
Li Yugang is a famous singer in the Peking Opera. He sings in the traditional way of men singing women's parts. He is in his 40's here. The 'Drunken Concubine' tells a story of the Emperor (Dimash) sentencing the concubine (Li Yugang) to death for Treason (the low vocal fry at the beginning). The concubine reminds the Emperor of the fun time they had when they were drunk. The Emperor says that he wishes that they could have one more fun drunken time together. The 'Diva Dance' is interspersed within this tale. This is the merging of ways of singing and it is spectacular. Thank you
Beautiful interpretation. Two styles the traditional Chinese opera and the contemporary one, telling us a story. Dimash and Li Yu Gang, present us as a dialogue, the tragic love story between a famous concubine (represented by Li Yu Gang) of the Chinese imperial court and the emperor (represented by Dimash) for that reason the two thrones in the stage. The Concubine has problems with her emperor as a result of the intrigues of the enemies in the imperial court. The emperor is sentencing the concubine to death (hence Dimash's fry vowel issuing the sentence). The concubine reminds the emperor of happy times together, but does not change the outcome, the death of the concubine. In the middle of the story, they integrate the Fifth Element into the song, showing us a hand in hand between traditional Chinese and contemporary song. Then they resume Drunken Concubine with the final dialogue, listening to the laments of the lovers. Two great performers, both amazing. This staging took place in the Welcome of the Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival and was placed among the first places with the highest audience on TV for these festivities.
