*Randy Meisner, while with the Eagles did a exceptional job on this song that he co-wrote and sang. His high notes performing this song is still memorable. While in Mitchel Nebraska, I had the distinct privilege of seeing his gold and platinum records that he did with the Eagles on the walls of his living room.*
Randy Meisner’s voice is probably one of the most beautiful male voices ever! The entire band has great vocals but Randy Meisner has always stuck out for me personally ❤️
She felt it...thats the way music is supposed to be listened to and seeing her feeling it made me smile cause i know when u can feel it in your heart its an amazing thing
A.A. has a 10% recovery rate. The way to get sober is to find something you are passionate about and dig in. If you have no passion for anything ... find it. Make it your own. 16 yrs sober now, and I have not set foot in a meeting. The last time I did, I wanted to get drunk and high more so than when I walked in there. Meat market, people forcing relationships that turn out to be toxic , etc. If it is working for you than I congratulate you on your success.
This song has brought me to tears on occasion. There are many great Eagles' songs, check out "Take it Easy", "Tequila Sunrise", "Desperado" and that's just a short number to start with. Good reaction.
The Eagles were a collection of all stars, each member was a star in their own right. Sadly there will never be another band like the Eagles. We are so bless to have their recordings to enjoy forever.
I wish you would let your friend listen. You stomped on all the good parts. We all know how good they are save your reaction until the end. Thank You. I want you guys to succeed!
This is my favourite Eagles song and "I can't tell you why" which is another beautiful ballad of theirs that really hits the high notes and is sure to make you cry.
Mine too…I’m almost 74 and been listening to this song since I was in my twenties. I play this live version several times a week. It takes me back to happier times ❤
The man singing is part of one of the most unique trivia questions in music. What bassist/back up singer was replaced in two different bands by the same man? What were the bands and the men? The bands were Poco and Eagles, and the men were Randy Meisner and Timothy B Schmit.
@@no834 pretty sure you are right, they sold more albums. Getting into an Eagles concert was far easier and cheaper than Zeppelin concert though, if memory serves. One was a concert ticket, the other was gold. That was the reality in my area.
Their album Eagles Their Greatest Hits is the greatest selling album of the 20th century in the US. That Eagles Their Greatest Hits album in 2018 also became the greatest selling album of all time in the US passing Michael Jackson's Thriller and going 38times Platinum compared to 33times for Michael's Thriller.
@@maxpeck7382 was a teenager during the time. Everyone liked the Eagles. They were great. However, I didn’t have a single friend who would have considered them their favorite band. We also made Frampton Comes Alive and Boston giant sellers. Loved that stuff, too. But, as for favorite band, at least for all the kids I knew from 4 different high schools in suburban Los Angeles, was by far Zeppelin. Some Bowie, some The Who, some Santana (lots of Hispanics in my area), but overwhelmingly Zeppelin. Eagles greatest hits, Marley, too, everyone had. Tull and Skynyrd. The way it was. I think the Eagles probably also appealed to older folk and country fans.
Absolutely loved watching you two tear up over this all time classic. It made me feel like I was hearing again for the first time. Thank you! Still sounds as good as it did all those years ago!
Randy absolutely kills this song. The Eagles harmony is so amazing. This song, like many Eagles songs, is perfect to put on headphones and just let it wash over you. Cheers!
You needed to watch your girlfriend's face as she was listening to the song. She could not hold back her tears and emotions as she was hearing the words of the song. If you want to hear the best selections of the Eagles songs go and bye their album of greatest hits. It is absolutely amazing album to get to listen to whenever you need to hear some incredible music.
He was still self conscious about his ability to sing the notes though, even though he wasn't known to ever miss a note. He was the most mild mannered self conscious nice guy in the band. More quiet then say the leading two member songwriter team of Don Henley and Glenn Frey who had the biggest solo careers after the band broke up.
Amen! Randy is the only person who can sing this song like it was ment to be sang! Thank you for this awesome review and Sweetheart, your not the only one who fights holding the tears back when watching this video!
Eagles! Their music just makes you feel good all over. Picture an evening outdoors around a campfire having drinks and treats with some of your favourite people and Eagles is pumping out of a powerful portable sound system.
the eagles are so good live! ive seen them twice (once with glenn frey and once with his son after he died) and like hands down best concerts ive ever been to.
the girl is getting down right emotional ... this shit is real... sad that Randy Meisner had to leave the Eagles in 76 but Timothy B. Schmidt did a great job filling his shoes.
Music is the universal language of the world. Thank you Randy for delivering this power ballad with your own, unique, vocal phrasing. Just fantastic! It was a real pleasure to watch you both react to this legendary group 👍🏻
Love listening to the Eagles it was one of my dad's favorite bands and we lost him 2yrs (SamPyles) ago so when I listen to the Eagles I cry a lot just remainds me of the days going up!
Great reaction One of the greatest, most profound and emotional songs of all time! Randy's emotional singing, beautifu pronounciation of every word is somehting behond!
Every member of the Eagles was a lead singer in their own right, but put them together, their harmony was unparalleled. They just as good if not better live than they were in the studio. I was first introduced to them before they became the band we know as the Eagles, when they were Linda Ronstadt's tour band and last saw them on the Hell Freezes Over tour.
No one could ever sing that song but Randy. Read something about this song , he was always super nervous about singing it live , was afraid he would mess up.
I have been to 2 Eagles concerts. Both times I was blown away. We loved every second of almost a 3 hour concert with chilling harmonies and perfect musicians! ❤️🤍💙
This breaks my heart everytime I see this because Randy Meisner the singer has trouble with the degrees of alcoholism and cocaine addiction for years it's just a shell of the musician and Man he was then so when I see him in his prime it breaks my heart
This record came out when I was a teenager back in 1970...something. .Lol. Anyway, my homeroom teacher was trying to get some boys to quieten down...and this salt and pepper haired elegant lady in her late 40s early 50s...quoted the lyrics to the song...as a warning...I'll "take it to the limit", and it won't be "one more time". Our mouths dropped and we couldn't believe it. Our homeroom teacher was hip...lol
How hard it is to hear this song right now. It's the first I've heard it since Randy died. May he rest in peace. IMO, he was the best Eagle ever, but it's so sad that he didn't understand that!!! I would have loved to hear the music that he'd have helped make had he remained a member of the group!!! This is just devastating to me!!!
Gerrl, thats my reaction every time i hear this song, cant fight it. I'm sorry your partner cant SHHH and let you feel it. When you listen to classic music like this you cant talk over it. New stuff is crap and it doesnt have much soul usually, and is computer derived usually, but the old stuff is all human heart.
Sadly, this is the only song he sang lead. A beautiful song sung by a person who really didn't like the spotlight. RIP Randy Meisner you are loved and missed.
No it's not though. He did lead on more than a few of their songs. "Too Many Hands". "Is It True". "Saturday Night". "Tryin'". Probably more too. And last but not least "Try And Love Again". One of their most vibey and gorgeous songs they ever did in my opinion. If you haven't heard that one yet you should go listen to it. I highly recommend it.
Take it to the Limit was released in 1975 on the album One of These Nights. It was the first A-side Eagles single to not feature Don Henley or Glenn Frey on lead vocals. This song has become special for me in my lifetime. On September 2nd, 2018, a friend of mine from high school learned she was pregnant with her first child. Of course it’s exciting but she wasn’t excited at first. She took to Facebook to share the news and she also wrote, “I just want today to be over.” I went live on Facebook for her and I sang Take it to the Limit. It helped her embrace the change that she was about to face. Nowadays, her baby boy is a 2-year old walking toddler.
Please note: Randy Meisner was 'only' the bass player in the Eagles in 1977. 5 band members, 5 mikes on stage - EVERY band member was part of the wonderful vocal harmonics of The Eagles. I believe Don Felder (one of the guitarists) was the only one NOT to be a lead singer in one of their songs (and I may be mistaken) but he more than made up for it with his brilliant guitar playing. This was a rare assembly of raw talent that eventually was terminated by a clash of egos. Nevertheless, the legacy remains...
You guys are super fun & sweet. Yes, this is one of the greatest bands in rock & roll history. So happy to have discovered your channel. *Subscribed! 🤗🙌🥃
Lets see how long it takes for Don Henley's goons to find this reaction and take it off RU-vid. They usually block everything. Suprised its still on here.
it's such a sad song, when you read some of the lyrics---- All ALONE at the end of the evening. And the BRIGHT LIGHTS have FADED to BLUE. I was thinking 'bout a WOMAN who MIGHT have LOVED ME I NEVER KNEW You know I've always been a dreamer (spent my life running round), and it's SO HARD TO CHANGE CAN'T seem to SETTLE DOWN But the dreams I've seen lately Keep on TURNING OUT and BURNING OUT AND TURNING OUT the same. And when you're looking for your freedom (NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE) , And you CAN'T FIND THE DOOR (Can't find it anywhere) , When there's NOTHING TO BELIEVE IN. .....But you take it to the limit, one more time (hope)
The thing that made the eagles one step above the rest is that not only could Meisner sing a storm, but the rest of the band were also exceptional singers. The harmonies are anjelic.
Randy Meisner, in my opinion was the heart and soul of the original Eagles, it's a shame how Glen Frey and Don Henley treated Randy at the Rock & Roll Hall Fame induction, making sure his bass was unplugged for their performance, and not even asking him if he would like to join their 1994 reunion. Take It To The Limit is a timeless classic and I only hope one day Randy will get the recognition he truly deserves...
