@LastManYea
@LastManYea 4 месяца назад
I thought this at first too, but the real reason stated in the book explaining the science, is that being so close to the black hole the planet is tidally locked to it, but also being so close to the black hole its orbiting at a significant fraction of the speed of light, which causes it to wobble back and forth, creating those big waves you see as the planet wide ocean is jostled about with that extreme wobble

@volosh67gayo49
@volosh67gayo49 9 месяцев назад
It's not that love is gravity or something like that, the theory is that It crosses dimensions like gravity does, including time. But because they don't have the connection/love towards murph, they can't communicate/make the right connection for her to recieve the data. So the beens knew that Murph needed his father and her room to recieve the quantum data (maybe hoping that there was an impactful moment that conected them there), so they send Copper because he'd know what conected them (the watch) and he'd know a way of comunication that murph also knows PS: If you look closely, Cooper started transmitting the quantum data to the watch the moment he leaves (after Murph picks up the watch that she had thrown away a moment before). So the clock was always showing the solution to the equation in Morse, ever since Murph was 10 years old... that's why Tars says "it's such complicated data for a child." Murph wasn't prepared then, neither when she was a teenager, nor when she was older because she was still angry with Cooper and didn't even want to go up to her room... there was even the possibility that she would never go back to grab the watch as Tars said. She had to go through Dr. Brand dying to finally have the idea of going to her room and she had to go through realizing that Cooper had not abandoned her to re-form that connection/love. Then the clock was still transmitting the data because gravity crosses dimensions including time (and space, that's why she could follow the Morse code even outside the room).

Hey Caleb and Gabriella, I'm so glad you guys picked up on the amazing style of Chris Nolan's writing. -------- The level of emotional intelligence he assumes the audience has. ------ We all know Copper loves his daughter. But Nolan's writing show how Copper takes specific actions to care for and protect Murph. ------ When he says, "The first thing you learn about being a parent, is making sure your child is safe and protected. That includes not telling a ten year old girl, that the world is coming to an end." --------- In this exchange of dialogue Nolan is showing how Cooper specifically loves and care for Murph in ways too deep to comprehend. -------- In ways so deep that he would travel the universe to save his daughter and the rest of humanity.

Space ships/stations aren’t made from fragile material, the reason everything breaks so easily is the fact that nothing in space in stationary, everything is moving and if you think about it, our earth orbits the sun at roughly 67,000 mph, (107,000 kmh), which means our space station that moves with the earth is also traveling at the same speed, anything that is going that fast and has a collision is going to break/explode regardless of what material it’s made of. As I saw it it was Cooper with the instructions from Romilly who got her to Dr. Wolf's planet. And love who gets Cooper to the same planet as well. Cooper's love for his daughter is the main force to travel through time and space using the fifth dimensional space with a three dimentional interface for Cooper to use. I just got after at least seen the movie 25 times - but the comments from Mentally Gone enlighted me.

The physicist Kip Thorne worked with the VFX team to produce the image of the black hole. He then went and wrote a paper based on what the team produced. When the Event Horizon Telescpe produced the first ever scientific image of a black hole, they looked exactly the same. Since then, it's been possible to tell when a science fiction movie or TV show was made, based on how they show black holes.

You need to watch this more times. You catch new things every time. One of the best films ever made imo. The emotional core is outstanding. The score is simply out of this world. And Nolan "sort of" went to a black hole to film those scenes. The sfx needed to create the black hole required a whole new rendering technique to be created. It was based on actual theoretical physics. The resulting render yielded data which inspired at least two scientific papers on black holes if I remember right.

One of the most unique reaction channels on RU-vid. Even if I don't always agree with your interpretations, having an honest and thoughtful discussion about movies is refreshing. Can't wait for the Return of the King reaction!

Hey Gabriella and Caleb, in the end you eventually named 'time dialation' as the true villian in this movie. ------- We see that Dr Brand sr tells the universal human truth we should not be afraid of death, but we should be afraid of time. ------- Time is a never-ending avalanche of thunder and fire rolling toward us. ------- We spend our whole lives trying to outrun time. But eventually, it will catch us, it will catch up with all of us. --------- So live your life to the fullest before time runs out.

It’s crazy because I watched this movie when it came out going into my senior year of HS, and since then I’ve considered it my favorite movie and until this day it still hold true. From watching reaction channels reactions and especially toward this movie, they all mostly say this is there favorite movie or one of their top 3. And that’s after they’ve watched many movies to. I’m happy you guys reacted to this Goated movie, and I had a feeling you would love it.

I’ve seen this movie like 30 plus times, and nearly every reaction to it on RU-vid. I love it. I am a fan of your openness in the intro. We are all healing, and weirdly, movies for a lot of us is part of it. Subbed!

You asked at the beginning of it was a documentary. Except for the old version of Murphy, all of the old people talking at the beginning are actually clips from the Ken Burns documentary on the great American Dust Bowl so they actually lived through what they are talking about.

Keep up the good work guys really enjoyed your analysis and the way you break things down and how you can relate to your childhood. Nolan is my favourite director and his other masterpiece is inception i believe you’ll love the concepts of the movie

The movie is based on an original concept by producer Lynda Obst and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne and is set around 2067. In the event horizon/center of the black hole is a tesseract; a 3 dimensional representation of our future 5 dimensional understanding of time. If Cooper travels “up” or “down” in the tesseract he is able to view different moments in the past and touch the items in each time to communicate with Murphy. Tom, Cooper’s son, had a baby while Cooper was in space, but the baby (Jesse) died early on and was buried out behind the house and later so was Grandpa. Tom died 20 years or so before Cooper made it out of the tesseract and to Saturn. More of the scientific details are in Kip’s book, “The Science of Interstellar”.

I think we have 2 new Christopher Nolan fans after that reaction! You should try with Inception, almost as complex as Interstellar but equally extraordinary movie

The idea of gravity travelling across time and dimensions is from the modern theory of superstring or string theory also known as m theory which is a contending theory of everything as a solution for quantum gravity

Thank you for the emotional response and the excellent interpretation and contextualization! You have really felt and understood the core, the message, the essence! Just the message of love!!! For all its scientific nature, the core of the film is LOVE! Love between father and daughter, father and son, between lovers, or even to humanity. Thank you & all the best from Germany!

One thing I absolutely love about this movie, that I feel you’d enjoy based on your reaction style, is how the soundtrack came to be. Nolan went to Hans Zimmer and asked him that if he brought him one scene if he’d come up with something in one day. He didn’t say it was a space or epic tale, he gave Zimmer a short story of a father that has to leave his child to do something important, including the dialogue “I’ll come back” and “When?”. And Zimmer came back with the song that plays at the end of the movie, STAY, I believe is the track. Then hearing Zimmer talk about the soundtrack, he said on the use of the organ was an essence of humanity, because it’s an instrument you need air to play, that the music breathes.

This film is an homage to the film '2001 A Space Odessey' in every direction you go. So many Easter Eggs. Study both carefully.

Hey Caleb and Gabriella. I know family means the world to you. -------- "Interstellar" takes you on a journey so profound it makes you rethink the ties you have with your family. It makes you ponder to what lengths one would go to in fulfilling a promise to your loved one, especially a child. --------- I believe this is why the movie and its theme of parental love and sacrifice resonate with you so deeply. -------- Great, amazing, heartfelt reaction. You won me over with this one.

Nolan basically revealed early on in the movie, right before Cooper leaves to space and is saying bye to Murph, that Cooper was the ghost for Murph. Cooper says to Murph, "Once you're a parent, you're the ghost of your children's future." It of course has a much deeper meaning but it also has a literal meaning in the specific case of the movie. Many people somehow accuse Nolan's movies of being very cold, scientific, and emotionless. I don't understand how they arrived to this conclusion considering the fact that so many of his works are emotionally driven. The Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar, The Prestige, Inception, Oppenheimer, Dunkirk, and even Tenet has a beating heart.

7:16 It never dawned on me that he was missing a hat! I kept thinking, Dude's hair looks good in this video! I didn't realize it's because I've never SEEN his hair before! Lol! On a related note to what he says at this point: It is so interesting the things we hold on to from our childhoods that we take into adulthood and allow it to shape how we see ourselves. I never for once have thought anything about his forehead, and yet, it was something he was insecure about. I also have things that I had an Epiphone about several years ago that I traced back to my childhood. There are things I still need to let go of, but it's a struggle. I want to add one more thing: this channel is like way more than reactions. It's like you come to therapy when you watch these videos. And I'm here for it!
