During live concerts Keith Flint would climb into the area where disabled fans are watching from and go around giving hugs and shaking hands with ALL of them, the man was a legend
This is factually confirmed by some super serious science people. Studies conducted in the mid to late 90's, and frequently replicated just after the turn of the century, by the "Belgian Ecole des Arts et Technologies Sud" show that it is impossible to listen to this song without vibing out; not that we _need_ a bunch of stuffy scientists in lab coats and glow necklaces to know this song goes hard.
Amazing band with tons of hits. You should do next "out of space" you will love it, and also "smack my bitch up uncensured" it was banned from MTV for years because of the content and it has an amazing surprising video
I only recently found out that Keith Flint (the front man in this clip, RIP) ran a pub for a while in his later years. On winter evenings when he'd get the fireplace going, anyone who made a "Firestarter" joke had to put money in a jar on the bar. I'm betting that jar was full most nights :) I do remember that the other UK rave/techno band that I became aware of at the same time as Prodigy, and always think of in tandem with them, is the Chemical Brothers. A different style of music and definitely of performance but definitely related, and something to try if you want more of this style. I'd love to see what you make of the track and video clip for "Hey Boy, Hey Girl". Oh, and "Ebenezer Goode" by the Shamen. Another from the British 90s rave scene, really fast and cheeky and enjoyable.
@@nicolasdubus669 thats a different dust brothers consisting of E.Z Mike and King gizmo (famous for producing bands like the beastie boys). the chemical bros originally DJ'd as the dust brothers as a homage to the actual dust brothers (thinking they would never get famous enough for the name to be a problem) they put out a few eps under the dust brothers name and were threatened by the original dust brothers with court action so they then changed it to chemical brothers after the track chemical beats, that is the reason their 1st album was called exit planet dust
@@nicolasdubus669 yeah the whole saga was pretty famous back in the day, the "real" dust brothers threatened to sue them so the name had to be changed. chemical brothers is a far better name anyway :)
Lol after hearing prodigy growing up so many times in mid 90’s and early 2000’s, I’m just noticing how thick his English accent comes in with his singing😂. Which that thick accent only makes it more awesome sounding. It’s funny, a lot of European singers, ya actually never hear their actual accents in their voices, but not this guy lol
The Prodigy aka Liam Howlett was the best live band ever. Even Rage Against could not compete. he was also and still is one of the best D.J.s and producers. Listen what he did as an early composer with the Experience. The album is bonkers bust is made on mostly 80's tech.
My favorite EDM group ever. RIP to Keith Flint the vocalist on this song & most of The Prodigy's songs. Check out "Breathe" by The Prodigy. Its a banger.
RIP Keith. He was not the vocalist on most of their songs though, as he provided vocals for roughly 20 of their 80-odd album tracks and he featured on 4 out of their 7 albums. The band's other vocalist, Maxim, provided vocals on a quite similar number of tracks, with the main difference being that he featured on 5 out of their 7 albums. Breathe is definitely their best track and what made it extra special back in the day was that it is their only song from the 90s, in which both Keith and Maxim provided vocals.
back with a banger. love this song !!! was the bomb back in the day, rabbithole sug. The Prodigy - out of space. if i am correct this was their first single/vedeo.
Close Tom but they did have a couple before that Charly was definitely their first single though, it featured a sample from a British road safety commercial, great days.
A brilliant track by the lads is. Everybody in the place ‘official music video’ Dancing throughout a city in the US some bystanders try to copy them and fail epically lol. It is also early rave culture which I have some fond memories ‘shuffle dancing is based around rave but nowhere near as good’ I just wish I could still do the moves I did back in Manchester
Every Prodigy track is a certified banger! Even the slower more sinister tracks... ...Definitely a Punk/Rock/Techno infused crossover for sure... ...Also the lead Singer, Keith Flint, may have looked intimidating, but was one of the sweetest celebrities you could ever wish to meet. (RIP, lovely)
They were very Popular in Europe at the 90‘. First Techno or with a Mix of Reggae in the the European Hit Song „Out of Space“. Later more Hardcore like the „Firestarter“.
It takes a lot of nerve to acknowledge the Prodigy. Most channel people are afraid to post them. For this, I salute you both. If you uploaded Smack My Bitch Up then I'd say you both came down from the stratosphere. ♥️
Should check out The Prodigy song Breathe live at MTVs Fashionably Loud. They also did this song Firestarter as well. Please do a reaction to Hed pe, metal, punk music infused with hip hop. Songs I suggest are Bartender, Renegade, Suffa, Blackout, Here and Now, Killing Time or their new song/video First Blood. Thx & keep the great reactions coming👊🤟
I was not the least bit interested in dance music till big beat came along. For me it was Better Living Through Chemistry by Fatboy Slim in 1996. Then, you know the drill. Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Bentley Rhythm Ace, Apollo 440, Propellerheads...
Keith Flint wrote the song about his role in Prodigy as a hype man, and the song also has a deeper meaning about Keith's psychological mental health. Rest in peace Keith
One of those rare acts that crossed genres. They would play typical indie festivals in UK like T in the Park and then could headline the biggest Rock and Metal festival in UK, Download Festival. Breathe or Smack my Bitch Up should be next ok your lost by them.
Next Bell Biv DeVoe "poison" or breath or smack my bitch up by the prodigy... Are used to listen to prodigy before they were even famous back in early 90s late 80s
This song is about the white guy in the group.. he used to catch flack back in the day about his role in the band. So it's literally about his job as the Hype Man or the Firestarter. Watch him during the live shows he's doin crowd control the whole time. There songs were in a fuck ton of mid 2000's movies. Lots of racing and fight scenes lol.
Would recommend their early music which no RU-vid reactors are covering. Everyone does the same tracks lol ‘Everybody in the place’ is from their first album. The U.K. was in the midst of a youth movement, illegal raves, ecstasy, speed and acid were the dance drugs of choice and the music reflected that. The Prodigy were at the forefront of the rave scene. RIP Keith Flint
Oh my goodness, in this video you guys look exactly like Jackee Harry and Jay-Z. Love your energy! Thanks for putting a smile on my face this evening! ❤️☀️
I wonder if Americans experienced any similar type of music like this at the time in America? Dance music in the 90s like this in the UK at the time was huge.
ICONIC UK BAND - hardcore dance! I've been to 3 Prodigy concerts - each one was f**kin AMAZING! 🔥🔥🔥 Keith's energy was off the scale - the audience just went totally mental! All their songs were hardcore, but if they played Breathe, Firestarter, Smack My Bitch Up, Out Of Space(classic oldskool Prodigy!), Poison, Break and Enter - then you were at serious risk of injury! LOL! He always came down into the crowd & the buzz was unreal! I have a brilliant pic off him - he bounced off the stage to get the crowd even MORE hyped - He stood right in front of me and I managed to take the pic at the perfect moment - His tongue out - cool pic of tongue piercing on full display! Really kind & decent bloke......we couldn't believe it when he hung himself😭.....he was a LEGEND.....such a tragic loss....R.I.P. Keith Flint 💔
Prodigy liveshows were mental back in the day 🤘🤘it's not so much a techno beat, I suppose in the 90's it was referred to as Big Beat, and Prodigy often had the British rave breakbeats with it
Try to get hold of the original video of Smack My Bitch Up, you might as well try looking for unicorn faeces. MTV played it once. The full uncensored version, no one will touch it with a barge pole! Censored versions are out there. 'Smack my bitch up' was a sample from the Ultramagnetic MCs.
Essex accent, I worked in Braintree. I developed some of their backstage photos of their Concert Tour! Saw them at V Festival in Chelmsford bloody brilliant. RIP Keith . X
First off R.I.P Keith Flint 😢 This is off their album The Fat of The Land from start to finish it's perfection you need to check out all their discography I would of loved to have witnessed them perform in concert as they were one hell of a 🔥 live act I know that the surviving band members are working on a feature length music documentary to tell the story of the band & in / to honor Keith's contribution to the band & in remembrance of him ✌💕 from a Aussie 🇦🇺 subscriber
I would like to recommend the little remebered first single Charly, a very English track which sampled kids public information warnings and was actually released a year before out of space (a good track but I prefer Charly).
It always pains me to say this (because I didn't like Liam at school and Keith was a lovely guy!) But Liam Howlett was the musical brain behind the prodigy, Keith is the one everyone knows but the artist is Liam...
Yes they're an English band. This track is off the album The Fat of the Land, you should check it out. Another great song off that album is Smack my Bitch Up
Want to see something truly bazaar that you can’t seem to turn away from for whatever odd reason? (And I do mean odd!!). Try Die Antwoord, song title Baby’s on Fire. Truly a WTF band
