This week we had to fix our roof rack on our van. It's been our first van setback during our build. We didn't have too much time to work on the van this week since we've been pretty busy with Outdoor Chef Life. This week is just a little update. Hopefully next week we'll have a lot more time to dedicate to the van. We'll be installing our windows and working on the van kitchen and maybe getting to our van plumbing.

Happy Birthday, Jocelyn! Mistakes happen, no big deal! Everything is replaceable! No injuries, live n learn! Yup, I have a lifted truck, so I have to be careful! Pound the metal down and silicone it well so it won't leak, maybe some rubber washers also!

Don't sweat it Taku, everyone makes mistakes the important thing is to learn from them, it gives you experience. I was a truck driver for over 27 years and you would be surprised how many people forget the height of their vehicle that is not your case, you din't see the sign. People see the warning signs and still run in to bridges and low clearance structures. Like Joselin said, it could have been worse so look at the positive side of it. Blessings to the both of you and keep doing what you do.

Hang in there Taku. We all make mistakes. Glad you were able to fix it up. I remember once on a long road trip I had bike on top of my car and I pulled into a parking garage and nearly ripped them both off the roof. Stuff happens, it’s all about your attitude. You have skills, fixed it no problem. Keep up the good work.

Bed fillet ftw! 🙌 Glad the damage wasn't too bad and you were able to fix it quickly. Also probably better to get that out of the way early while still building the van, get up some of those van life parking lot reflexes up to where it is less likely and hopefully won't happen in the future.

Oh another tip i have kayak racks on my truck so i just used my label maker and put the safe clearance sticker right there on my console helps you never forget!!

Of course it's aggravating to make mistakes on a project, but my motto is "Any job worth doing is worth doing twice, occasionally three times." I just finished re-assembling the carburetor on my outboard for the third time after using the wrong sealant once and leaving a little spring out once. It looks like you are building a really sweet van.

If you can get under the lifted up part from underneath (inside the van) you can get a body dolly at Harbor Freight and a body hammer and you should be able to knock it down without messing the paint up too bad. Lesson learned, good luck bro!!!

The whole roof rack setback could have been much worse Taku! This will seem minimal once you’re past it and back on track again. Keep the spirits up! It’s all good. You guys are doing a great job and once done are going to have such terrific adventures and experiences with this van! Watch for leaks because of the uneven metal they have foam stripping with glue that can be used kind of like a sealing washer or possible caulking might be a good choice but as you drive the metal on the van will weaken and stretch over time keep an eye on it !
