Literally the only episode that was about a race win was Carlos Singapore run. I know max doesn’t comply with the show so it was a bit expected but this way of displaying the sport is just pathetic. Didn’t even throw in Oscars sprint win. Sport seems to be about other things than winning.
@u18 Bro, this is DTS, not the sport... Calm down. DTS is trying to attract casuals who don't care if Max or Oscar won cause they don't even know them. They are just trying to create drama so those people can start watching. It's not that deep. Tbh, I was hoping for a bit more on Max, but I get why there wasn't. Also, you already saw Oscar's win and Max's wins. Why do you need to rewatch them? I'd rather they show more behind the scenes. Though it was a bit disappointing how little behind the scenes they showed.
It was the best thing ever. Unfortunately it was so good it got me obsessed with the sport so I had to start watching races live. And now the show is bad.
4 things: - not showing the alonso v perez at brazil - not showing the epic qatar sprint or that weekend as a whole, especially with the mercs crashing and max becoming champion. - not mentioning sainz’s insane strat at Singapore - could’ve shown more of the chaos at zandvoort
Agreed and I was annoyed they made it seem like Daniel’s first race back was Zandvoort and Liams first race was Singapore which it wasn’t BUT they did it like that as it’s more of a “story” also they cater this more to casuals and let’s be honest. Most casuals won’t have a clue about the genius Carlos did with Lando
@@mattnsacyup i felt that would be talked about in the qatar. The problem is max himself doesnt want to be a part of dts so they cant really include much. But yeah, they need to include more of max dominating the field.
What season 6 of #drivetosurvive doesn't have; - Max's record season - Max's monaco qualifier - anything redbull - mention of Sainz big brain move in Singapore - qatar massacre What it does have: - 2 episodes on alpine - nick devries - Danica patrick - caffeine lesson from James vowles
@@BwInNewJerseybut you’d think they would show some of Verstappens wins considering he broke multiple records this season and was one of and if not the best season we’ve ever seen? Strange to me tbh
@@nicholasgovan4564 They showed a few wins (Monza, Mexico). Max has made it clear he isnt a fan of Netflix and doesn’t give them access. What else should they do? It was the most dominant seasons, I wouldn’t say best.
I mean they had a double DNF in Australia, a podium for Ocon in Monaco, two double dnfs in a row(silverstone, hungaroring), Otmar leaving, and a podium for Gasly in Zandvoort.
I only got through like 6 or 7 episodes, but I can't believe they didn't say anything during the McLaren episode about Piastri getting pole and winning the sprint race in Qatar, or pretty much anything after Silverstone for them when they had a lot of good races at the end of the season. They basically just showed them being terrible for the first half of the season, then showed Silverstone with them finishing 2nd and 4th, and that's it.
I feel like they follow teams for a bit and see what stories they get. They stopped following McLaren at that point of the season and therefore have no good unseen footage for Oscar’s time in the limelight. It’s speculation. I couldn’t believe it wasn’t part of it either.
Love McLaren, I'm a papaya girly myself, ABSOLUTELY LOVE LANDO HIS MY BOYTJIE! But, yes, E3 was more about Lando' going or staying i think. Would have loved to see the whole, Oscar not driving for Alpine and going to McLaren storyline though.
What you won't see in the last season #DriveToSurvive 1. Perez and his tragic season, his place at Red Bull is in danger 2. Piastri and his sprint win 3. Alonso, Perez fight at the finish in Brazil 4. Race in Texas and disqualification of Lewis, Charles 5. Leclerc and his elimination from the Brazilian GP 6. How Sainz helped Lando maintain DRS in Singapore 7. Drivers in Qatar have problems with the heat 8. Collision between Mercedes drivers 9. Pole position for Lewis 10. Max Verstappen winning virtually everything
What annoyed me the most was they made it seem like Singapore was Liams debut race and like Zandvoort was the first race Daniel was back at. I get why they did it “for the story” but it drove me up the wall. Was a few other things they did that were similar but that was the worst for me
Not talking about Qatar at all, whether it’s Max clinching the title, Oscar “winning” before Lando, the Mercedes colliding on lap 1 or the extreme heat conditions was an absolute travesty. For how often the “fighter pilot mentality” is brought up, not bringing up Ocon throwing up, Lance basically collapsing on an ambulance or Sargent retiring on his own was odd. Almost forgot. Ocon nearly lawnmower-ing people in the pitlane in Baku was a perfect opportunity to talk about safety.
Netflix is not there for every race. That race would make a nice drama, but clearly they weren't there. Same like Brazil 2022 and 2023 which they definitely would definitely put if they were on the spot...normally they pick just a few races and that's why they keep on going back to those or using the f1 archives 😅
Writing this before the video, I’m glad y’all made this video because I’m so mad about how dirty they did Yuki. They made it look like he didn’t beat any of his teammates when he beat them all, and said that the reason that he stayed was politics LMAO
don't know about Lawson Yuki beat him in 1 out of the 5 and yuki got crashed out in 1of the races and DNS on another, and he beat Ricciardo 4-3 and he scored 17 out of the 25 points for his team that season with 15 of them was whilst Lawson and Ricciardo were in the other car.
my favourite bit was when alex and logan were in the car and alex was describing how netflix was going to edit danny ric's return and logan was laughing at him THAT WAS A GEM OF A MOMENT
I wish that instead of doing an episode about Haas and Williams who weren’t even really fighting at the end of the year that they would have done the episode on the fight for P7 and shown how close it was near the end
I liked that episode actually. I really liked they showed the different leadership styles of Steiner and Vowles. For me it was one of the beter episodes.
I agree with Matt. It's good, when you love watching every bit of F1 content. But I personally hoped for more. My main issue with DTS is, that it has a great potentional, but o lot of this potentional is just wasted. For example I got really pissed of when race engineer said to a driver "gap 1.5 behind" and there's a rear wing camera of a car being like 0,4s behind, or there were some weird radios during quali. I mean.. I'm not a driver, but I don't think a race engineer talks to his driver every corner of a quali lap. A lot of things like that can really annoy F1 fans. They have all this footage, driver radios and all this amazing stuff, but they often ruin it by trying to overdramatize everything. 6.5/10, once again a lot of wasted potentional unfortunatelly.
Respect for avoiding rumor-mongering. Talking about a topic under investigation with minimal details is 95% filler and speculations from people who cover it.
Still can’t believe they didn’t do anything with Qatar or Oscar getting his first sprint win before lando got a win, Charles and Hamilton DQ, and the Monaco Quali. They showed Monaco in 3 different episodes and they didn’t even show the best quali of the season. They had the perfect opportunity with the Aston Martin episode
I'm surprised they didn't make more out of the Mercedes battling through the season and Lewis finally hitting George in Qatar, especially given that they made such a big deal of the Alpine 'civil war'. I feel like that could have replaced maybe the second Alpine episode, but I'm also glad they didn't over exaggerate things so...?
Guessing Lewis, George and Toto were asked but didnt give the answers Netflix could create something of. Ocon and Gasly were pretty open about their rivalry.
The only thing I would add is that dts brought in loads of new fans. So dts probably took a decision at some point to make it more about capturing new fans than creating extra content enjoyable for hardcore fans.
Thank you so much for weighing in on something that needs evidence before commenting on it... I remember now why I followed you 2 all these years... ou have no idea what that means to some people living in a world where everyone automatically assumes the worst these days.... GENUINENLY thank you Thomas and Matthew
Carlos Sainz’s win in a whole of Max domination. Or just some bit of more max in general. - I mean talk about Singapore.. they (redbull) seemed literally frustrated .. even though they had a whole clean sweep the last of the year. That was the only pivotal moment that I really missed in DTS..
One thing I noticed was that they showed that Perez finished P4 BEHIND Russell at the finish line in Abu Dhabi whereas he actually finished P2 and fell back to P4 after a penalty
Can we Hide? Max in Vegas. He did not have to ask because drivetosurvive did not show HIM anyway. I liked this remark because it was about True feelings,.
The story they missed that is kind of similar to Checo's struggles was Lance choking. The had the whole 'Lance diving in pain, what hero' but ignored Lance being a total failure the rest of the season. They had the whole 'Aston Martin v Mclaren for 4th place' and didn't even mention AM dropping to 5th because Lance was rubbish and it was literally Fernando v Mclaren. Other than Logan and Zhou you could have put any other driver in the second Aston seat and they'd have finished 4th easy. Lance was by far the biggest bust/under performer of the season. Is daddy Stroll such a hen that they were worried about putting his little boy in a bad light and making him mad?
Guenter in Montreal isn’t even in Montreal pit lane when he’s frustrated with hulk falling down the field. It pans back to GS Look carefully at the pit lane it’s Zandvoort with the sharp right turn exit hahahha
Fun Fact about Danica Patrick: She openly claims she is not a car person, she has made it clear she knows nothing about engines or car designs nor cares about them.
I think it was perfectly fine. It gave me exactly what I was expecting. Would there be stories I would have included they didn't? Yep. But that's fine ETA: I think covering Perez's story would have been difficult because the most criticism was from his own team when they're having such a dominant year. It makes RBR seem ridiculous to casual fans. Plus i think they're saving it for the upcoming season
I just watched the first episode and it was outstanding. One of the best audio video content I have ever seen. 44 minutes of looking behind the curtain of the mega rich and hyper competitive. 10/10 I have seen every race since the start of 1984 season and worked at the Australian Grand Prix. To those who are not already F1 fans, I can't think of a better introduction to the pinnacle of competitive human endeavour in all facets.
On the radios: They also keep telling to push during quali or while doing a hot lap. Of course they're going to push, it's qualifying! Content: Lance being a gigantic liability to Aston Martin.
I actually really enjoyed this season. The episodes almost always showed the most important/dramatic race(s) for the teams, which was not the case in the past years. Also the season itself was a snoozefest, so all in all I consider this season a great success, much better than the actual races.
I agree with a lot of it and also talking about the Zak Brown / Lando golf situ. it might have been slightly scripted or performative but they both go golf together very regularly so it was nice to see that side of their relationship. I also didn't know how far their relationship goes that far back either!
I was definitely expecting a lot more Oscar. Astonishing rookie season, we know he’ll be around for a while so could have been a great story to follow from the start, and SPRINT WIN!! And he’s super popular with fans. Hopefully next season.
Pierre Hamlin: Daniel. Piatrsti is 4 seconds behind Riccardio: Yes. Radio silence please Pierre Hamelin: Yes Pierre Hamelin: Piastri 0.4 behind, I will be quiet now Pierre Hamelin: Push now Pierre Hamelin: Piastri 0.2 behind ???
Honestly, having an interview with Hamelin would have been a great addition to the show. Working with three different drivers throughout the season, I'd love to hear how that changes how he has to adapt to each driver
All in all, I enjoyed maybe 15 minutes of season six because Netflix was able to capture a few things that you can't get from the outside. The rest is either obviously staged dialogue from team bosses or incorrectly edited audio during qualifying or a race. As a big Formula 1 fan, I'm really disappointed
@@0Synergy You can say what you like about Claire. But she practically grew up in the paddock and knows her stuff. Even if it sometimes seemed otherwise.
They left all the important things and concentrated only on alpine.. very particularly they didn't even concentrate on Max who really dominated a season, Perez first few race, Carlos tow for Norris,
The wildest part of the editing for me was the diary cams of Charles talking about finally getting to the end of the season and they showed clips of Charles in the mountains… in the winter break BEFORE the start of the season 😂
DTS was basically what reignited my fire for F1. I hadn't been even a casual fan for years, since down here in Brazil F1 is not really a popular sport anymore because we haven't had a driver on the grid for over 10 years now. Nowadays I consider myself more than a merely casual fan (bordering on hardcore), so I've watched the show from both sides of the fanbase. I haven't seen all of Season 6 yet, but I was a bit disappointed to learn in the comments that they don't feature Piastri's Sprint win. As a McLaren fan, that was amazing to watch. And he's a rookie, I mean, come on! That was awesome driving for a rookie! There are some pretty interesting things on the show, though, so I won't complain too much.
My favorite episodes where the Alpine episodes, i did not know about the esteban and pierre rivalry growing up, could make up for a good story if Alpine does well
I got into F1 in 2022 when I walked downstairs and my roommate was watching a race. Supplemented with this channel I got into quick without ever hearing about DTS
I’m really enjoying it this year. I like how they have covered the races from different teams perspective. My take away from it is that I can’t stand the Alpine, Renault team and I’ve always been a Gasly fan. I think it was a crap move getting rid of Otmar the way they did. No wonder Daniel got out as quick as he did!
I’ll be honest I enjoyed Clare Williams talking about how the teams feel specially with failure. She knows what that’s all about and what the team would feel. I think she did a great job tbh.
I agreed with yall on - Perez story line should have been included big time What i disagree is - I enjoyed the first Alpine ep, second one gets kinda boring tho
Like in the AT ep about Lawson, Tsunoda and Ric, they played it up that Oscar was attacking Danny for 7th but in reality he was attacking the Mercedes for 6th. I get they want to tell a story but sometimes reality with behind the scenes is better than made up battles. I love the behind the scenes stuff, but contrary to you guys I think the racing footage actually captures just how insane the speed is of these machines!
Well I guess I can come on here as someone who's totally new to F1 (got into it for real just a few months ago) and wouldn't notice all these clips mix-ups. I like it because I get to see how F1 is besides the race (even though I learned a few things about certain rules or terms) so in the latest season I really liked seeing TPs. I'm not the biggest fan of the moments that reminds me too much that I'm on Netflix if you know what I mean. But yeah I'm really excited that this year I'll actually follow a full season, so I'm excited. But yeah I 100% get how someone who's been into F1 for a while wouldn't get as hyped.
Best individual performance by a driver ever in the history of f1 and they dare show nothing about that but do show 2 episodes about alpine. How they came up with that is beyond me
Yeah nailed it, actually getting predictable. Seemed less back of the garage drama this year, seemed very Alpine/Aston focussed. Think they need to embed themselves in three separate teams all year, back mid and front runner. Will get footage of all teams that way, seen from embedded teams perspective all be it.
My opinion before the video: I haven’t watched the whole season yet, but I feel a bit disappointed. It’s still very illogical at times. For example, in the McLaren episode, they mentioned Oscar being P3 in Silverstone, and suddenly he is P6. Silverstone was a long time back they could give the viewer some more context and improve immersion like that. It often feels all over the place and I would much prefer a raw documentary rather than one that is weirdly intensified. It improved, but for me, Drive to Survive is still nowhere near to where it should be
Despite the domination and usual DTS editing not making sense- I thought this was the best season to date, they did a good job with the narratives and portrayal of the drivers. As a long-time fan obviously there were the usual DTS things that fave me the ick, however I might start recommending potential new fans start with s6 straight away or after 4;)
Also we have to remember that some of the episodes might be dull because we already KNOW what's going to happen. For example (although I think it's one of the better episodes in general) episode 3 would be even more exciting for someone new who genuinely doesn't know if Lando is going to jump to RedBull at the end of the episode or not- same with the episode for Lewis.
I missed an episode about Sauber, Alfa Romeo and Audi. Like, what happened for Alfa Romeo to step out? How are the behind the scenes preparations from Audi? Also, the whole Andretti/Cadillac drama was not mentioned once. I would love to see more about how F1 directors reacted to it and why refused the entry of an additional team. Besides that, were there any offers for them to buy Haas? What were the conversations Andretti had with different players?
“The buck stops with me” is a phrase I’m so tired of hearing. I was also annoyed that they didn’t show the Lando/Sainz helping each other in Singapore when they did show Sainz winning. It would have been a good wholesome multi team coordination against Mercedes
I think Horner once said that he asks like a lightning rod of sorts, to keep the drivers out of the spotlight a bit, so their can do their job. I guess Horner's job is mostly done at the factory and during diner/travel with key team members. At the races, he gets to give the sponsor visibility and get fewer mics stuck in the faces of the drivers and rest of the team whose work is ALL affecting laptime. Ironically, including to the catering.
On the French version, they translated "overtake available", so, "you've got battery" with "tu peux dépasser", which means "You can overtake". I hate that translation, I mean, duh, of course he CAN overtake... x)
Well you are being too nice imho, I thought it was very bad and boring. I almost wist they'd go back to the made up beefs between the drivers. Most fun was a grumpy Vasseur in the last episode. And worst: Max was shown maybe 5 minutes in total, he is the most laid back, honest, friendly, funny champion ever and he broke every record this season. He should have had his own episode by this point. Has anyone seen how he is around children? Never too busy to sign an autograph. Yet they choose to show him being negative about Vegas in stead of fe: the singing part when he won.
I agree that this DTS season is considerably better than previous ones. - What I don't understand is why they kept Will Buxton as the main commentator. He never says anything insightful or even interesting, only banalities, but with an important face.
Liked it from he behind the seasons perspective, watched all last season I know they jump around but still from an entertainment perspective was def enjoyable for me
I have only made it through the first three and have enjoyed it so far. While it's nice to get the behind the scenes stuff, I wish there was more of the race. For some reason I'd like it if the Episode followed the Season and we get an Episode per Race. Then a final episode that relates to the off season happenings. I never finished Season 4.
My biggest problem with dts is the same fu**ing crown noises literally everywhere. And those a the same noises as in the season before. One's you hear it you can't unhear it 😂 Best wishes from Austria
Bravo. Appreciate you integrity and not do the easy thing to get views or likes, i.e.to run with rumors e.g. Horner's investigation. Wait until facts are on the table. Bravo
