We finally ripped the roof off of our fixer upper home we are renovating to add the kids' bedrooms upstairs - just in time for the first snow storm of the season to blow through and dump snow all over the house. AND IN IT! We are walking the fine line between panic, frustration, and just a whole lot of fun!

Why not just do a complete tear down? Take everything out except the basement concrete...unless it is old and cracked... Then you know you have all new wood/building materials in your all new house.

I am glad you are safe. I am surprised that they did not put a tarp over where the roof was. That is what most contractors do when they are building a house so water or snow doesn’t ruin the electrical wiring, cause water damage, or cause a foundation issue. I would talk to your contractor about that just so something like this doesn’t happen again. The soup looks amazing by the way!!

Patience will be needed at the shell stage - it always goes longer than you think especially in winter. Your reaction is normal and it will be so exciting when you get to the weather tight phase. Hang in there!

I relate to the struggle for a remodel so hard. We redid our entire interior ripping out walls, carpets, redoing all the floors in the house, painting every single room, and re-doing bathrooms. For 5 months, we had people trapesing in and out of our house all day long from 7am to 5pm. It got to a point where I literally left and went to stay with another family member and refused to come back for 3 days because I was so sick of all the moving of furniture and mess, fumes, tarps, loud noises, and just people being in my personal space. I just wanted them to all be gone and for the stuff to be done. Thankfully, my family was able to lure me back in, lol, and calm me down, but it was all just kind of annoying and frustrating waiting for things to clear, and parts to come, and getting wrong things delivered and delays....but now, long after the dust has settled, I am incredibly grateful for that struggle because I appreciate every single square inch, and how hard the workers worked to get things done as fast as they could, and having a beautiful home. Definitely take those before pictures for sure!

It's heartwarming to see how much Lincoln loves you guys! Such a precious family! I love how Lincoln says bye while you're still filming. 😄 He's so cute. I love seeing what you guys are up to. My husband and I have 6 kids, and we are currently living in our 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment above our garage while renovating our fixer upper. We are having to do a lot of the same things you guys are, new subfloors, and everything had to be taken down to the studs. But my husband is the one doing it all himself, so it's taking us much longer than anticipated. We bought the house 4 1/2 years ago, and have been living in the apartment now for 2 1/2 years (with 8 people). So I can relate to the rv sort of life with a large family, while dreaming about your home. Thank you for sharing. This makes me feel like I'm not alone. God Bless!

I am surprised the contractor didn't put a tarp or many of them over your in home,, in order to keep any inclement weather out. I'm typing this an hour and 15 minutes before the premiere, so may you address it in your video. I'm surprised that the re-modelers didn't put temporary Tarps over the roof until they can work on it. Hopefully everything works out wonderfully. It's a long process but you've got this. The mountains and Cascades are getting bombarded with snow, and we're getting bombarded with heavy rain. Blessings to you all! BTW: Soup looks so yummy! Stephen could be a standup Comic. Sorry about no roof, the snow is beautiful… I can tell you it will be so fun looking back at these memories of renovating the house in few years and maybe show grandkids!! My parents only took photos when they were building their house, 4 adults kids later and grandkids we loved seeing the photos and here about how it was building the house, it took 2 years to build..

In our country, in the same day when constructors take off the roof, they put a special material, that works as under roof material that is water proof. So no problem with the rain o snow. Why they took it out and let it like this?

Happy New Year. At least it will be gone in a few days. The longest I've seen snow stay on the ground in Middle Tennessee is a week. When my mom and I first moved to TN if it snowed it would be gone by night time. Next day you had to deal with ice on the roads.

Nice vlog, A Winter Wonderland there in Nashville. So beautiful, just take it in. We got snow here but didn't stick. It's been low in the 30s and today 50 degrees in Albuquerque NM.
