In Forbidden City, the "pots" you mentioned were filled with water for fire prevention. In the past history, there were palaces burned down due to fire accident as the result of the vast wooden structure and scarcity of water source. So as you would have noticed, inside the forbidden city, there are many large size of water filled pots (in the past) all over places to put-off fire

My family visited Beijing in 1999 for a week and greatly enjoyed the experience. One evening we ordered two Peking ducks and many dishes; the evening meal was wonderful. We had a private guided tour with a chauffeur and English speaking tour guide throughout the seven days. Thank you for your great video. It brings back memory. I have watched your other videos in other parts of China. They are equally enlightening. Your daughters are lovely.

The aerial view at 0:09 and 3:50 is actually not the actual forbidden city in beijing. It’s the heng Dian world film studio in Zhejiang. It’s built for films since the actual forbidden city cannot be used for film production! (Smaller is size and does not include all buildings) Glad to see some good Beijing content!

The scale and size are mind boggling considering how long ago it was built and the maintenance of these sites are so impressive. Your kids will learn more from traveling than doing any type of classes at a western school.

If I'm not mistaken, the clip at 0.07 minute is not the actual forbidden city but the studio city at Hengdian World Studio.....

I would like to point out an error. The aerial video you are using is not of the Forbidden City. That place is called Hengdian Forbidden City. It's a film and TV base built specifically to shoot ancient movies.

By the way 00:08 is a copy of the Forbidden City used to film TV series in Zhejiang

A short explanation, the drone clip in the beginning of the video is supposed to be the Forbidden City filming base of some film city rather than the Forbidden City in Beijing, where basically keeps drones from flying. These are the largest wooden buildings in the world. They are also earthquake proof as Beijing sits in an earthquake zone, miniature models tested showed they can withstand an earthquake with a Magnitude over 9.0+ !

The aerial video of the Forbidden City is not the Forbidden City in Beijing. It is a replica of the fake Forbidden City in Hengdian City, Zhejiang Province, China, used for filming movies and TV shows. Because the Forbidden City in Beijing is too busy and there are too many cultural relics to be protected, it is not suitable as a filming location.
