Your blinds are stunning. I love the fabric and print. What a wonderful talent to be able to make them yourself. What a satisfying feeling you must get knowing that you made it. They look beautiful in your lounge. The room looks so cozy. ❤
Thank you for your lovely comment. After nearly five years without anything covering the windows, we are enjoying the extra snuggly feeling they give the room.
Thank you for your compliments! We are only partway through our renovation, with quite a few more rooms to start. I hope you'll enjoy watching those from the outset.
Your skills and steady pursuit of quality workmanship are utterly satisfying to watch! Thank you for sharing the inspirational efforts which you pursue with such calm dedication, it gives so much pleasure. I enjoy the utter Britishness of your videos, if one may say such a thing! Now, don't tell me you're from elsewhere, that would set the cat among the pigeons indeed! Just a lovely half hour or so, 😊
What a lovely comment! I'm so glad to hear you enjoy the videos - thank you. I definitely don't want to cause a hullabaloo, so am happy to confirm that I am in the UK. 🤗
Thank you and me too! This is the first room I've gone dark on the ceilings too, which is another step altogether. Last winter we sat in the glow of the Christmas tree lights and the wood burning stove - it was magical!
I like the white/creme walls in your window space. So lovely and bright. The dark walls are cozy but for me are just too claustrophobic, especially in fall and winter. Beautiful decorating though!
Thank you - the windows are a labour of love! We were talking the other day and said that we spend 90% of our spare time working on windows. I hope when we finally finish all of them, we don't need to circle back and start the process all over again. 😊
Assolutamente lavoro grandioso ! Bellissimo- TUTTO! 🍁🍂🍀🌝
Hello Claire! It is always such a delight to get a notification of a new video from you. I think you are just like me and will attempt anything apart from electrics and plumbing. I leave such jobs to the skilled trades. The fabric you chose for this room could not have been more perfect. I always think it is important to have a very large table for doing jobs such as blinds. I made roman blinds years ago when I had a large space to work on. Unfortunately, now living in a little cottage I no longer have such a luxury of a large table any more! I love both dark walls and light walls and love the colour you have chosen for your living room. The lighter colour seating is the perfect compliment to the darker walls. I am looking forward to seeing more renovation videos as they are my favourites. Gardening videos do not interest me but that is my problem, certainly not yours. 😂😂😂 Enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend whatever you may be doing. Sophie.
Hi Sophie, thank you for your thoughtful comment! You have reminded me how important it is to have the right size workspace. I was considering making curtains for our dining room on the floor, which I know would be a disaster. Hopefully, the plumber should be fitting the bathroom soon so I'm looking forward to finishing off that room and sharing it.
I loved seeing the many layers that make up your beautiful room. The gorgeous blinds, variety of lighting sources, cushions, art, plants, books, throws etc etc. come together for a cohesive and generous look. 🙂🌸
I repeat myself but I love love watching your videos. Very inspirational. I totally lack all of your talents but it gives me all the vibes to give it at least a try. 😄 Looking forward to your see your next project. Warm greetings from wet and windy Normandy.
Thank you so much. 🤗 It's definitely worth trying most things. For me, the first time I do something I stand back and realise all the things I should have done differently but from then on, it's all an improvement.
Wow. Beautiful. You have so many lovely things and you have a great skill with decorating. It looks like you’re all set for some chilly autumn evenings. Let down the shades and light the fire.
Thank you so much. 🤗 I'm looking forward to Autumn - it's my favourite season. Hopefully we'll have the warmest winter yet, with all the windows now covered.
Hi Claire, Beautiful workmanship, beautifully photographed. Can you kindly explain how you attached the decorative fabric layer to the pocketed rods: what prevents the encased rods (& their plastic loops holding the cords) from separating away from the decorative fabric when you raise & lower these roman blinds?
Thank you! There are two things to prevent the fabrics from separating. On the inside of the blind, where the rod and the fold will lay, there are rows of locking stitches going across the width. Sometimes I also do a stab stitch through all the layers 2-3 times across the width on the upper side of the rod seam. I only do with patterned fabric though, because I find it catches my eye too much on plain fabric. I hope that makes sense, Cheerio
Thank you! I used a colour called Paean Black by Farrow & Ball. It can look a brighter purple in bright light but because our room is north-facing, it's a very muted aubergine.
Hi there, I'm not sure how the video has come across as AI, but I would like to assure you I am real and all the photos and videos show the work I'm doing on our home.’
