First of all we are thrilled you are safe! WOW...WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS! We are 10 min north of Clearwater , right near Honeymoon Beach. We got the call & alert also @ about 2am (got in bed @ midnight) & we're in an RV! My husband went outside for a brief moment to open up our van & then came to the door & screamed...EVERYBODY GET UP!!! He saw the tornado but there was zero time to respond & get up to the concrete bath house! He was shaking like a leaf & couldn't even get his words out afterward. He said fear absolutely caused him to freeze for a moment & that is something that he has never had happen (nerves & patience of steel). He watched the tornado turn & slide right by us! We definitely could hear it & could also hear metal crumbling & objects crashing. The fatigue from sleeplessness & adrenaline rush was awful the next day ...but we are so very grateful that no one was hurt!!! We have been looking for a mobile home on land too but are really questioning this idea after that night🥺🥴😯
Holy cow!!! That sounds just absolutely terrifying!!! I’m so happy to hear you are safe! We’ve had close calls in our rv too but not that close! I can only imagine how mentally exhausted you were too. It looks like there was quite a bit of damage there too. Keep in touch and stay safe!
Regarding your questioning your decision to move there I would really think hard, as for me I wouldn't buy a place I know gets hurricanes and Tornadoes but if you are then look for a place that has had no damage for a Long Long time because the structure is still there and in good shape, at least this way you know you have a better location and chance of the luck holding.
Unfortunately, every state in America has some kind of catastrophic weather at some point. Tornadoes & hurricanes can hit anywhere . Same with earthquakes and flooding. In Florida, codes have made some major changes to how homes & buildings are built to withstand hurricanes, even cat.5 hurricanes. If you look at the Northeast, the states are not built or prepared for an earthquake even though there is a fault line running through them.
My mom didn't even get a notification, she's near there. I was born in Ocala and raised in Citrus then back to Ocala. The weather gets crazy fast here, be careful with the lightening here. I'm sure you've learned since moving here. Stay safe!
Thanks for reaching out. We are used to the lightning in colorado which is about the same as Florida, but the water spouts tornados and hurricanes are a new ball game. At least the tornados are usually small which betters the odds
@@TilFurtherNotice we always take for granted that were only going to get wind and rain.. here in Ocala. But the tornadoes are the worst part. They always come on the east side of the storm. . It's always the scariest at night. You can't see it coming and you're probably going to be sleeping. 🥲 Glad you guys are safe!! welcome to Florida 🩵🇱🇷. I love your property and animals
So glad you guys are safe and sound, definitely invest into a tornado/hurricane shelter. BLESSED LIVE OAK ACRES ❤ Love you guys have a blessed and safe week.
Glad you guys are ok, Tornadoes are scary and happen anywhere, not just Florida. Hurricanes are predictable long before it happens and we all have time to get out.
@@gfody7593 I lived in Oklahoma for a little while growing up. I remember playing in storm shelters. Here they just throw these houses up and we have nowhere to go.
@@gfody7593 we don't even have tornado sirens here I don't think. My husband remembers them a long time ago. And a lot of times even our phones will not even let us know.
Glad to hear everyone is ok. I don't think I need to tell Scott anything he doesn't already know about chainsaws. It's not how big it is but how you work it that gets the job done. Be safe.
I am so happy you guys are safe! I don't know how you guys even want to stay! .... I would have beat feet right on out of there and found a new place to live! Lol! After escaping to separate weather events, it looks like this place is meant to be! If I think of a good name I'll add it to the comments later. Stay safe and be happy! 💝
I'm in Citrus County and am from Michigan. Snow storms were never as scary as hurricanes... and tornados either. Yet, I can't go back to the cold. So here I am lol I love the premise for your channel and am looking forwarding looking through your adventures.
Bless your heart! I hope you have smooth sailing with the weather going forward. This winter, when everyone is buried in snow, you'll be basking in sunshine and warmth.
When a really bad tornado hit Cookville a couple years ago 23 people lost their lives. The people that had a safe room n they had just moved in, that’s the only thing that was left standing. That’s why they bought that house. But I don’t have any details about it. But I would research it good, before I had one built. Florida has safe rooms because of the water table. Dig down a foot or two n you hit water.
When we lived in the Keys for 17 years we had two neighbors that had a hurricane proof room rated to withstand a cat 5 hurricane. It was a room that was all cement, floor, ceiling, walls and a heavy steel door. The funny thing is that anytime their was a hurricane warning both neighbors secured their houses and went north. In the Keys tidal surge is just as severe as the high winds so its double trouble. Glad your ok and the pup also.
I was at school when the 2nd round came and all the wind was blowing against the walls and even a soccer ball hit the window on the second floor and I’m glad lots of people are safe❤
So, so happy that you three are safe and that your property was spared any damage, too! Looking forward to the upcoming videos where you build that safehouse!!! (And please put some art in there!!! LOL)
So glad you are all safe. Praying for your community. 🙏The night lights are a great idea. We did that for our pup Babs, she was almost blind plus she couldn't hear well. It works!
Such a scary experience and extra so after all your hard work making your new home so nice. Most importantly you all are safe including your parents. I am hoping to see a new kitty in your lives again soon too. 🤗🙏Anne
Hello!!! All are safe! We do have a cat who shows up in the middle of the night but not sure who it belongs too. We will know when it’s the right time. Gracie is keeping us busy 💕💕. Thank you for checking in!!
Im so glad yall are safe! We had an underground shelter. I highly recommend one. Yall absolutely did the best thing you could have done getting in the tub ❤️ Please stay safe! We love yall!
Oh boy!! Terrifying!! I feel for y'all!! We've had to hunker down in Mississippi a few times last year. So happy y'all are safe!!! I was crying for you, watching this!! Praying that no more devastating weather comes your way!!
Watch videos on Cog Hill Farm. They had a very strong tornado shelter put in the garage. The live in Alabama and I believe the shelter was constructed in another state.
I lived in a single wide mobile home up in PA near the beach. We love our trailer still, built a house that was completed last November. We finally chose to move in to our house just a few weeks ago. We are having a hard time leaving the simple life. We have 6 kids ages 27-10 and awaiting another child to Adopt. Wasn’t for our kids and 23 pet lizards we would have stayed in the mobile. Just such an easy way to live…but…. First year in the trailer was incredible, perfect weather. By second year we experienced heavy wind and got tornado watches and warnings and of course tornado sirens. My husband didn’t take any of it seriously. Used to Living in many fancy homes before and because we live in PA he got completely complacent, wondering why I was getting upset with him for not acting. I calmly had a plan and began executing it, but hubby delayed the process horribly. Knowing mobile homes are not good places to be during bad weather I jumped into action. We got everybody out, all our lizards included and to our safe location I planned out 7 minutes away. But I still get mad at my hubby for not responding. When he heard sirens going off as we got everyone into our huge van, then it hit him…this is not a joke. My older adult son even wasn’t too alarmed until he heard the sirens, then he looked at me with such fear…It took him a few minutes to listen and help me and the other kids evacuate. I want so bad to stay in our brand new mobile home but the reality is they just aren’t safe to be in for a large family like ours. Thankfully the tornado missed our area but still, had the warning been in the middle of the night like yours was we still would have opted to leave. Just too much risk for us to carry with so many of us. Our last house we built was perfect to ride out any and all disasters as we had every safety feature built into it. But we decided to leave and move out onto country land for added safety knowing that weather emergencies aren’t our only concern, but now we got to start entirely over putting all the safety stuff back in. SO much work! On Amazon there is a diy tornado shelter, swisher, that is a few thousand dollars, its above ground and we plan to buy it for our first floor garage. Our basement is 100% below ground but our house is tall so I feel its good to have the option of both as we would only have minutes to get to safety. And those remaining minutes would be getting all 23 lizards in with us. So grateful you guys are ok, but scary for you I am sure! Your puppy sleeping in that tub about broke me though, us humans get it but animals, even our lizards were terrified.
Wow! What a story! Thank you for sharing this with us! It’s nice to relate with others 💙. We were chuckling at the lizards because we’ve had a zoo of critters before so understand! I’m glad you all were safe! I’m going to check out that shelter you mentioned! Stay safe and keep smiling. Life is full of twists and turns!
We had a older home in Missouri without a basement . When we had our 20 X 40ft garage built we had a unfinished basement put in 10 X 15ft . The price between finished and unfinished was $16,000 ( hate to see the price now ) . We figured we where never going to live in it so why pay the extra to make it look all nice and who cares if we have to look at block and cement for a couple of hours . We did pay extra for the floor inside the garage to be 8 inches instead of 6 inches which gave us extra piece of mind . We also paid extra for a steel entry way with hydraulic struts instead of the wooden type of cellar doors . Great video and very sad about what you two have gone through lately . But you will come out stronger and more prepared because of this .
I thought of you guys that night and said a prayer, We were up too with it. Thankfully never got to Tub situation. I've been in 3 tornados and Strait line wind tunnel 130+mph winds in the mid west and 2 in FL and they are by far the worst, I'll take a hurricane over tropical depression tornados any time. They are sudden and scary. I had dr eye appointment one time and went in the morning, a hr later a tropical depression formed overhead and was caught in it driving home. Back then I was new to FL and had no idea storms like that can just happen in the right conditions. They're on the rare side but do happen this time of year.
Hi Cass! So glad you are safe too! Sounds like you’ve had your fair share of Mother Nature scares! Tornado made the hurricane look like a walk in the park. Take good care and thank you for checking in with us!
I share your fears. We built in KY and had a big shelter built under our garage. I was at Walmart when the sirens went off.😂 But we have used it since and it is a huge peace of mind.
I always dreamed of living in Florida, not anymore. The weather patterns have changed so much... Live Oaks brings to mind the opposite. How about Majestic Oaks Studio on Dream Acres...😊
Great video so, so pleased you are all safe and well. Those hurricanes and Tornados look and sound evil. But you could mix the 2 names to come up with a name for your property like " Hurrtorno studios " or something like that. I've not had much sleep so I can't think of anything else, sorry. I am wanting a mini chain saw and i was looking at the saker ones but they are expensive, im so pleased Ryobi do them xx
@@TilFurtherNotice I will not to worry I was just worried about my son's girlfriend she had to go to hospital as she got a little bit scalded with hot water. She's fine and has to go for check up tomorrow, Wednesday xx
Oh my! WOW!! So glad y’all are safe and no damage!! My anxiety was super high watching this! I’d be terrified! Don’t think there is nothing to call yourselves whimpy about! I would definitely be building some sort of storm shelter in the near future! Underground is best unless there is flooding involved! As for naming the property- I think Jasper Acres or Grace Above Acres is a great option. In honor of your babies, but just a thought. As in usual form, y’all had me cracking up at the end of the video! 😂😂😂 But seriously, keeping y’all in my thoughts and prayers as well as everyone that was in the path of the hurricane and tornado’s!! ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Can’t wait for next weeks video!!
Okay, time to start building a storm shelter /root cellar /safe shed /bug out partial precast concrete tornado hut! Sounds simple...Have a Rooten' Tooten' week. Thanks.
I’m glad you guys are all safe and damage loved your video today regarding the storm shelter save your money if it’s for a hurricane the shear force is so strong that no structure is safe having lived in Miami all my life it can get pretty bad really quick and the heavy rain has nowhere to go that’s why we see so much flooding so quick in a hurricane just get Tammy and Gracie and jump in the truck and just go never take a chance. Peace bro
Thanks for the info on the shelter. A lot to think about! We have great drainage from flooding but the winds are scary. We’ve done the jump in the truck thing before but not in the dark. Appreciate you checking in 🤗
Wow,first a hurricane now a tornado, you guys are having all the fun. But ,on a positive note, from here to next June it’s all gravy. Till then keep it between the ditches 😎
Yep, diving right into this Florida fun 🤣. Looking forward to calmer perfect winter weather down here though! It actually feels like fall today! Take care!
Wait until the first time you have to ride out a hurricane for hours on end. I have had 4 direct hits between 2 different homes in Orlando, by myself. Not having someone else with you for some semblance of comfort makes it that much worse. Glad you stayed safe through the tornado.
We were here in crystal river for idalia last year and got a pretty good scare but all turned out ok. Fingers crossed for this season. Thanks for watching
I live in Maine now but I grew up in Florida and I remember the tornadoes. Unfortunately, mobile homes and RVs can get picked up and tossed like rags by a strong enough tornado so I'd definitely build a separate shelter out of something like sand-filled concrete blocks that can withstand the storm. Doesn't have to be big or elaborate. Just four sturdy walls, a concrete floor, and a decent roof. You're probably gonna want it to be directly on the ground, too, so that the winds from the tornados can't get up under the structure and move it/flip it. You'll need air flow so that you don't suffocate but there are ways to do that without adding windows and without compromising the structure. Underground structures are a pain in Florida because of the high water table, but they can be done... It's just a nightmare to keep them water tight and mold free (I do not miss the mold and mildew that's for sure!!) Good luck, and please stay safe!
Hello! We loved our trip to Maine! You picked a beautiful place to call home. Thank you for all of the tips! Thinking it will be above ground for sure with our water table. Thanks for watching!
That had to be so terrifying! I bet it took awhile to get to sleep after that adrenaline rush. So happy you’re safe but I’d put that storm shelter in place sooner rather than later. Maybe you can share the expense with a neighbor that would like to use it too, especially after you get traveling again.
Thanks Cecilia! We need to get our garage up first but hopefully we are in the clear til next season 🤞🤞🤞. Our neighbors have been here forever so I doubt they are as worried as we are 🤣
I live there in citrus crystal river. I remember that day I was going to be a hard day for me anyway .It was my son Jonathan first birthday in heaven boy that wake up call and that day was just took much for me .Glad you were ok .Did you come down to see what happened down here so sad .The stores on 19 just got back open from the flood .Than this happened.
Hello! I’m so sorry to hear about your son 💙😞 what a day for you. Yes, we saw that the town got flooded again! Felt so bad for everyone down there. I hope you didn’t get any damage. 💙💙💙
I live in Citrus Co. If those little tornadoes freaked you out then you may not want to be here through hurricane season. Hurricanes throw tornadoes with no warning. Living in Florida is not for everybody.
We were here all summer and fall last year so we did get a taste of it. Being from colorado this is all new to us but we are adjusting. Thanks for watching
Wow where yall living tornadoes and hurricanes my friend just built a building consisting of steel structure and metal siding they suggested thicker than normal concrete and heavier gauge metal panels for exterior because they live in south Texas where there big time storms some times and you could mount one those storm structures in there and bolt it to that concrete just a thought
Hey guys, this is not normal weather for this area, you are probably far enough inland to miss most of the stuff that happens near the coast, we are in Holder just a few miles from you, been in circus, oops I mean Citrus Co since 73 never had any problems yet, dont get discouraged by a couple storms,it is nice here in winter months, have fun.
That 24 hours was much more frightening than any haunted house could be!! 😱 We have had many tornado warnings in Iowa, and some have come near and through town. I have seen some in the distance and found out later that it was what I was seeing. I'm so grateful that I never have heard one!! 🙏 We've picked up insulation from miles away in our yard. Tornadoes are impressive, chaotic storms. A nurse where I get my allergy shots had the houses in front of and behind them get hit. It jumped over her house. They had barely any damage. They can be a mile wide or just barely touch down and go back up. Some stay on the ground for a very long time. Others hop their way along. We respect thunderstorms here!! 🌩 We can have tornado issues or straight line derecho issues(aka land hurricanes). We get long watches. Most fizzle out. BUT some make themselves well known for hours long warnings rolling through the state. I'm glad you can get storm shelters built. Grateful you guys made it to tell the story. I'm kind of odd, but I think your long time resident tortoise should be recognized in your name!! 🐢 He makes it extra special!! 🥰 I love your county name of Citrus!! 🍊 Very Florida!! 🧡 Crystal River is your closest town? Also a gorgeous name!! 💎 I'm glad all survived. Big hugs!!! 🫂
Oh wow! I bet you do get some incredible storms up your way! I love our tortoise 🐢 I told Scott I want the office/studio called tortoise something studio because I have a perfect view of his corner of the yard where he/she emerges from the den and grazes. I could sit and watch all day. But he’s terrified of humans. Must have had a bad experience! We love our town and county names too!
@TilFurtherNotice I'm grateful that most of the year we don't have bad weather!! 🤗😍 That tortoise makes for a very unique neighbor!! 🐢 I'm sorry he is afraid of humans. I would think that would be normal for a wild animal? I hope no one has been mean to him!! May the weather treat you well!! 🙏 Time for it to behave!! 😤
Well, that had to be terrifying. A storm shelter I can understand would be a top priority. Super glad everything is good for you and your folks. I've seen the devastation tornadoes can cause up here in Wisconsin. Regarding the horse situation, if I ever buy a horse, I plan to super glue velcro on my horse's back and on the underside of my saddle. I'm not going to have the saddle doing the old flipperoo on me. Of course, at 71, and living in an apartment, the chance of that happening is zero or less. 😂
So that’s what you look like in the morning. WOW, No Way. I would be at U-HAUL WHEN the sun comes up. Not to leave but to DIG ME A BIG For a storm shelter.
Hurricanes and Tornados R Us. .lol I have seen enough tornados, I saw a bunch as a kid we had a couple years with multiple tornados by us. I use to be a spotter years ago because we had the highest hill for miles right by the house, my daughter took the 2 hour "class" when she was 14 and would sit in the truck watching with me until she fell asleep. 1984 was a big tornado year in Wisconsin, I was driving back from a party and saw the town of Barneveld leveled. We had been up north and missed a couple bad ones by Appleton earlier in the year. October there where more that hit right on the Highway 151 route from Madison west. We have only had wind and hail damage to our homes over the years, luckily blessed. There are companies that make shelters and can bury them depending on your water table, but they can bank dirt up and cover them also not just a cement room. Tornados can dig some deep trenches too so a good cement room is helpful. Very glad you all are safe. I have a dog that has gone blind I had used a harness and looped a swim noodle in front so he would hit the noodle instead of his head on the wall, but he chewed it all up so now when he starts running he hits stuff, he is 18 years old and has looked like he was going to pass for a few years now. He does OK he can go out the door up the hill and down to the mailbox as long as he does not get turned around but sometimes he sleeps in his kennel and cannot figure out how to get out of it. He will hear our other dog breathing and go lay beside him and runs up to me when I call him so he is still doing ok. Hope your pup is doing ok and do not move the furniture around to much for her benefit.
Wow! Quite the story! Thank you for the tips too! Sounds like your dog is along the same lines as little Gracie. The pool noodle is a great idea. We are trying to get the bedroom done and furnished quickly so she can adjust before it gets worse. You all take good care 🤗
