If you get another battery like that, put some face protection on before going near it. I've had them explode, with just trickle charge. Heard the bang in the house, when the battery was in a detatched garage. A lot of acid spray around. A bit frightening!
Me and my partner came last Saturday at Marple all the way from Stoke on Trent and boy was it worth it !! Jo your cake was AMAZING so delicious, we had the almond slice and lemon drizzle and then shared a cherry chocolate cupcake !! Vic your coffee is sublime and so good ( I’ve been a barista on and off for 20 years AND I’m Italian 😂 so I’m a pretty good judge 😉 ) thank you for being so friendly and welcoming Was lovely to meet you both and have a chat Marple canal walk is well worth it as well the views are amazing it’s so peaceful as well 👍🏼 Will definitely come and find you again to basically eat all your cake 😂🍰🍰🍰🍰 To quote my partner as we were queuing ( drooling ) for cake and coffee … “ it’s Vic and Jo off the tele “ 😂
So the paper lantern Chinook flying in the transhipment warehouse was an art piece made for the annual lantern parade they have in New Mills - the Whaley community purchased it afterwards, as it was made to symbolise the Chinook helicopters that worked to sure up the failing dam, prevent it from breaching, and saved the town after it was evacuated in 2019! As you walk around the town you might spot "keep your Chinook up" car stickers in a lot of locals' cars - again, a local artist produced them to raise funds for some of the organisations that helped the effort.
you all a fabulous family calm and lovely healthy eating that is cooked its lovely to know you both eat well and you cook. You all out in the fresh air and not on the computer you spending lots of time with your son its lovely he learning lots. If there was a medal for great mums and das you be the first to have one.
A freind of mine used to own the Judith Mary restuarant narrow boat and the canal warehouse at Whaley Bridge, it was visited by Princess Diana back in 1990
A bit of transshipment shed history. The tramway was the Cromford and High Peak Railway which went across the Peak District from Whaley Bridge to Cromford near Matlock Bath and in effect linked the Peak Forest Canal with the Cromford Canal. Opened in 1831 and closed in 1967. I walked the whole length in the mid 90s although the last bit from Buxton to Whaley Bridge is not on the old track bed. It is a great two/three day walk.
You are only yards from the best Fish and chip shop I have been to since I was a teenager in the sixties ! On the ramp up to the main road - opposite the Station (The Fryery I think it’s called) If you fancy going - the treat will be on me - will catch up with you next week to give you the cash ) I have met you both before - and Jo’s parents a few weeks ago when you were going down the Locks at Marple on your aborted trip up the Huddersfield Narrow - I was the bloke on the electric Brompton Was in Marple again last Wed and guessed you had moved to Whaley Bridge - but I was going down the Middlewood Way - Enjoy the Weekend 😊
Could there be a more lovely hard working family ? Such good fun to follow your life. If only I could get to you for your cake and coffee. Much love to you. X
I’m an American from Texas who loves Ginger Beer. I drank it long before it made a come back in mixed drinks in the States. I was wondering what brand you guys prefer? Allot of the Ginger Beer sold here in Texas where I live is the Jamaican Ginger Beer, and I have always preferred the Ginger Beer from Great Britain.
I like the Bundaberg it's got great bite. But of the British made ones probably Fentiman's is one of the best. There's not many branded ones i can think of (Barr, Crabbies [alcoholic],Olde Jamaica), but most supermarkets have their own label ginger beer or ginger ale.
Fun video to watch yet agin! Jo, you remind me of my very younger days where giving my husband and boys haircuts was not an option and it was actually fun. William was fun to watch and couldn’t get any more cuter! Vic, hats off to your managing to make things okay on the boats! Good luck with the weather and sales!😎
I have watched your videos from the beginning and have longed for a life on the canals and lusted for your lemon drizzle (I am sure I would spend whatever extra money I had on them…well, and coffee, too, of course) and as a 12 minute commercial runs silently in the background, I want to compliment you on your development as professional videographers. You have done well keeping me both entertained and interested. Thank you so much! Just remember when you are talking to us to look into the lens, not the monitor or the person holding the camera…
You guys are great! You've found yourselves on the very best canal in England, the Upper Peak Forest, Whaley is awesome, I moor in New Mills with a fantastic view of Kinder Scout. The Toddbrook reservoir almost burst during heavy storms in summer 2019, it took over 2 years for planning permission to be granted to allow improvements for rebuilding to stop it happening in the future. In the meantime water is being pumped into the Whaley basin from the Goyt because the reservoir is drained as you saw. Just thought I'd give you some history on the events. Sorry about your camera .. careless cyclists, my cat was injured by one. Oh well. Keep the vids coming, love them. I may have a wander up to the basin for a cake and a cuppa 😀
Marvelous, such a lovely new location, William walking like a champ and Vic with his new cut. The very best as your season opens and can't wait for progression of your spring festivities. Happy Memorial Day!
There at 2:46, right now is the time to make William a railfan, get them young and they will stay for life. 😁 I can see where in about eight years you'll have a third boat for the model railway ... 🚂
It’s definitely a lovely part of the world to be in, thought you’d love it! We are on the peak forest by default (we have a cafe in Glossop, so have to stay close) catch up with you soon I hope, Karl & Amanda - Walking On Water
Ok statement then question. I bought the book can’t wait to make a Ginger Cake. I’m from California so we don’t call it sponge or maybe we do but I just don’t get around enough. Question: do you measure? If you don’t, you are a bad ass baker. Loving the vlog. Go Bill the Boatman!
Great video coming to you from Vermont! Thank you for all you do for those of us who get vicarious pleasure out of narrow boating in hopes of day to do it in Wales
Lovely family, great video! What more do you need on a Sunday morning? Cake and a brew would a great addition. Oh and being cancer free! Reality kicked in ❤
Vic, a quite 50-ties hairstyle you got. Jo, I just ordered a pair of earrings from Jo of Perseverance, I would have loved being able to order cakes from you too.
I cant believe that nut couldnt see the crait the camera was on. Thanks for information about youns weekend trip. Hi William, glad to see you and mom and dad. GOD BLESS.
I love it when you do a baking vlog - it's always so comforting. William is a little star and we loved seeing him with the Dandelion Clock! One day, we'll get to have a coffee and cake from you guys. 😊
Goodness, thought you'd got a problem with your baking Jo. Glad it wasn't that. 😀😁 Good to see you both, hope you have a busy day. Take care, see you soon. Chris & Mary. Xxx
Great vlog ❤️. I hope the bank holiday cake sales go well with all the sunshine. When you have a mo, Jo, can you do a report on the new Prammy, please ?
Not your traditional tea time cake , but Polish potato pancakes. “ Placki “. Sprinkled with sugar and served with sour cream or crème fraîche. Maybe a “ cut “ above the rest. ?
OMG, its almost June. Any idea when cookbooks are going out? My friend here in Toronto is heading for Norwich tomorrow to see his folks. I ordered Jo's book for them and was hoping/wondering if they might be going out in the post soon. Would be grand if it came while he was visiting his folks. No pressure, just wondering.
