If they don't know the basic procedures of correctly and safely strapping a load onto a trailer/float, they don't have the knowledge to pull of a proper top gear. I love them too, but let's get real.

Honestly, although we, as the Hatters would love that, imagine how other people would see this. They'd probably think stuff like 'three irresponsible young lads with immature humour'. I think its much nicer keeping this kinda stuff to such a tightknit and close community where we all love the guys and appreciate the effort they put into their videos, instead of having them ruined and censored by the bbc
Watching these Trabant videos are always so nerve wracking and I always applaud Ross for even getting in that thing and not bursting into tears every time it fails horribly
The Yogscast should start doing yearly racing, The Yogs Championship or something. Would bring more car people to the channel. You wouldn't have to drive old shitboxes, but still cheap cars, and you could do mods to them like reducing weight, tuning the engine, upgraded tires etc. In the championship there would be several races, and winning the race yields points, and the team with the most points at the end of the season would win the championship!
It might feel funny to joke about safety, but driving with an improperly secured car on a trailer was a potentially lethally unsafe situation. A loose car tumbling off a trailer at highway speed would've killed Trot and Ross in that Trabant, and injure/possibly kill others on the road.
Ross and Trott would be fine because inertia. If it falls of the trailer, it won't be at zero speed. It's oncoming traffic that would be screwed. That is, unless Stall-y has bad brakes....
I am one of those viewers that youtubers hate, I watch the vids and give it a like and thats it, but this was absolutely awesomely put together, the footage from so many angles was brilliant, and you guys deserve as much praise as possible for this video, and for a car lover like me, combining cars and Hat Films is a dream come true! Please keep more coming! I really hope they take good care of their Trabant and not trash it at the end of the challenge. We had a Trabant when I was young and seeing it get destroyed would make me really sad :(
As a German member of the traffic, I gotta confess that I was internally raging about them not pulling up earlier and being a constant threat for themselves and others on the street. But then again.. not using the signals whilst turning (or anything slightly similar to a traffic offense) gets even the most innocent of us to turn into a dirty-mouthed sailor (driver). How does that look like in the UK?
i think you are right and they exaggerated their non-chalant reaction. also it's easy to edit things (especially with back and forth shots) to make tense situations like that seem like they are going on much longer. BUT they definitely should have found out how to use the ratchets properly for the sake of safety to others
Nihilism top gear has multiple teams planning and securing things. they can block of the roads with the BBC money tap making it safer to film. only the road trips are different with a full crew to jump in if something happens and knowledgeable staff. plus I reckon Clarkson, Hammond and May know a shitload more about cars and everything around them then the hats.
