Important Note: your dining room table is high because 100 years ago that table was actually part of the kitchen. They didn't have countertops and so that table was a workspace to make bread, meal prep, etc... If you watch kitchen episode of Farmhouse Vernacular she explains this and shows examples in old books. Very interesting. Beautiful piece. Awesome find

Until you get the box spring in you can just lay some 1x4 boards across the frame to support the mattress. With your frame you would lay them from headboard to footboard. We had a similar mattress and we just used supports rather than a box spring, but with that frame I think a box spring will look much better. Congrats on the move in! It looks incredible!

MaCenna, please research slatted frames for your bed. In Europe they're actually way more common than boxes and you can build them yourself really quickly with scrap wood!

I’m not 100% sure but I believe the bed frame you got needs a boxspring underneath since like you said there isn’t enough support coming from the frame. It could result in your mattress becoming deformed.

Used to sell beds. A memory foam on a frame alone will be destroyed over time. They have flat box springs, low profile and standard sizes.

I’m literally in tears feeling so deeply your emotions as you move in and sleep in your home for the first time. The journey has been long but well worth it. The ecstasy you had when you opened the doors of the fridge related to me so much! I remember the first time I moved in my apartment and opened the doors of my French fridge.. I have one suggestion for your guest bathroom: add in an end table to your bathing tub to balance the view and to have more functions for the area. You can make it vintage as you like and I think it will be very beautiful. So glad that you finally moved in! Big big congrats!

As long as you always set up the bed first, everything else can wait. Nothing is worse than being completely worn out and having to make a place to sleep. Enjoy living in your new house!! So proud of all you’ve done

Anytime that I have helped friends move, I always volunteer to set up and make the bed as soon as we get to the new house. I tell them that they will thank me later and they always do.😅😂🤣

I didn’t read all of the comments, so maybe someone else suggested this, but Tempur-Pedic has box springs that come in different heights (2”, 5” and 9”). We did the 2” in our master bedroom because I was also concerned about the height being too high vs. the headboard with a standard box spring. It worked out really well and to me was worth the price to get the look I wanted!

Same. A year for me with my Nectar. I got the pillows and they’re too firm. But the mattress is great. Not sure about a big dog like mine, he gets into bed and makes us so hot. Maybe with a little dog it’s nicer. But I love my big boy 🐶

Instead of a box spring you can get a ‘foundation’ which basically looks like a box spring but it’s a wood frame with a wood (panel) top, slightly padded and covered with fabric. Mush cheaper than a box spring. And no bounce! I’ve used that under all my beds for years.

When you put the matres on that frame I was like don't you need some kind of slatted base under that matress, you will fall through like this? Boxpring might work too yes or a mesh frame.. but there deff needs to be something in there.

When you were building your new bed I got flashbacks to when I ordered my new queen bed frame. Basically, my new bed was an all wood frame that I ordered in the mail (so I knew that I'd have to assemble it and the reviews told me how big of a project it was) but man I was not ready for this beast of a bed mine was. It came in one very long heavy box and it took me and my sister to drag it into the house, and then I spent all day in my room putting that sucker together. In total, I think there was like 200 pieces or something (that includes the frame work, various screws, etc. To put it together) 😖. But I got it together in the end and after the fact I looked at my family and said 'this bed is probably going to stay with me for life, I ain't never giving this up.'

This has been such a fun journey to take with you...and Romeo and your mom! I just adore your mom. I was watching a decorating video and there was a discussion about really high ceilings and how difficult it is to avoid your furniture from looking really small. I am so excited to see how you deal with that challenge. I feel like a stalker looking through You Tube to see if you have posted a new video. You and your cottage have become a fun part of my life. We have the premier queen and my daughter has the premier full. We love nectar! We also purchased the adjustable bedframe. It quit working after a few months of use and we called the company and they sent an entire new frame! They definitely stand true to their word and are awesome to work with. So excited you guys have moved in! I get so excited when you post an update and I never want the videos to end. Can't wait to see more!
