My first job was McDonald's. One time, the fry machine was out of fries and I had to go to the "Walk-In" (freezer) in the back to get more. I had never been back there before, but I walked in to grab a box of fries and the door closed behind me. I got scared, but then saw directions to open the door again. There was a small knob to open the door from the inside, but as soon as I grabbed it, it came off. I tried calling the store to get help, but I had no service. I tried banging on the door, but no one could hear all the way back there. I thought I was going to freeze to death and thought how it was such a lame way to die. I could imagine headlines saying, "Girl freezes to death in McDonald's freezer" on every newspaper. Little did I know, it was a "pull" freezer door on the outside and all I had to do was push the door open. I was so embarrassed I didn't even say anything to my coworkers when I came out of the freezer.

My first and current job is working on the retail floor at Canadian Tire (yes, a Canadian company). Considering I get a lot of experience dealing with customers and different things they are looking for it does teach me about how people truly treat employees. The strangest experience I've had so far was an older lady come up to me and say, "Oh, you're a cute young man," and she followed me around the store for about an hour just watching me work. Some people can be very weird sometimes.

My first job was a certified nursing assistant at age 19. It was probably the most traumatizing first job you can have. I did 8 hour graveyard shift, took care of the elderly. By take care I bathed, dressed and fed them. I saw things that a 19 year should not have seen at that age. It was rewarding to have your residents be in healthy shape because of all the work you did but it was a tough job..

Worst Job: Worked at a Retreat Center as a Chef, and two weeks into the summer the kitchen building burnt down and we had to cook out of horse trailers with no A/C or ventilation the rest of the year. So it was about 95deg 75% humidity at all times. And we still cooked for 500 people a night. Working 120 hours a week. Crazyness.

My first job was in a drug store as a stock clerk/doing customer service and eventually I got bumped up to assistant manager. One day during the busy holiday season, a customer pooped in the store. Yup...not in the bathroom but on the floor, in a corner out of view of customers/staff. I made the decision of closing the store for a bit while we cleaned it up. We used all the bleach/air fresheners on the shelf that day :/

My first job is my current job right now. I work at Bulk Barn (it's Canada's largest bulk foods retailer). I work as a stock guy and my worst experience so far was when I had to fill up one of our candy towers with candy. Our towers have pinatas on top of them, so when I took one of the towers down to fill it up, I totally forgot about the pinatas, so when I grabbed the tower one of the pinatas fell and it was basically a domino effect and all of the pinatas fell off the towers (there were about 50 pinatas that fell) This was during my first week of work.

My first job was working at the airport as a check-in agent for an airline. And the worst experience I ever had with this job was dealing with delayed flights. Within the first month I experienced my first delay flight and it was horrible. All the screaming passengers and complaints I had to deal with. But as I continued to work at the airport I got immune to all the complaints and requests I hear from people.

This is my first comment on any youtube channel, this video inspired me. My first actual job was lifeguarding. My job was to keep kids safe & of course keep facility clean. I've worked over 5 years there & some pretty crazy stuff has gone down. People always miss the toilets so I feel you Taylor. There's been poo smeared on the walls in the boys bathroom. but numerous times kids have pooped solid or liquid feces in the pool. I've had to fish that out before with a net. if diarrhea is in the pool we close for the day & shock pool. but if solid poo, we close for an hour, shock the pool & people can get back in. what's so disgusting is that we tell patrons what happened & they stick around! & customers barely paying we tell them & they still want to swim! so gross. Oh geez I remember this one time a 9yr old kid pooped in the kiddie area & picked up his crap with his bare hands, got out of the water & put in the trashcan... I have so many more traumatizing stories... let's just say we have even caught someone trying to "do it" during day hours... while kids are there I was so glad I was not in the water I was on break... our manager asked them to leave... if you wanna read more ive got plenty. sorry so long. but funny thing is I actually really liked that job. besides all the cleaning it was fun.

I have new found respect for Taylor after learning his first job was at a movie theater. I currently work at one and have experienced everything he talked about haha. It wasn't my first job though, my first was at a bowling alley. I always have reoccurring nightmares of working there and when some people would get mad about the pin machines not working, they would yell and throw their bowling shoes at us.

dad made me work for him after i couldn't find a place that would hire me, the summer straight out of high school. he owned apartments, i helped remodel. i just started learning how to drive and my first days on the freeway were by myself, getting to his different apartments. not full days, but like 6ish hours a day of manual labor in 100+ degree weather, pretty much w/o any company, everyone else only spoke chinese or spanish. one apartment in riverside i had to help remove the floors cuz it got rekt by cockroaches like i never knew how many roaches could fit under a single 12x12 inch floor tile.. did a lot of painting and building cabinets. i still have back problems.. like 3 years later

One job I had was working at a Chinese supermarket in the bakery section. My job didn't involve any baking but more of the packaging. Usually when someone orders a cake, it's in a few days in advance. So once this lady came in to pick up her cake she ordered a week in advance and as I was grabbing the cake, it slipt out of my hand and landed flat on the floor. I felt so terrible. Luckily, there was still generic cakes we made daily she could buy but she was so upset with me since she didn't get the custom cake she ordered T-T

I worked in retail for my first job at a store that rhymes with sholes, and I worked in the Men's department. I was working the fitting room one day while also managing the floor while my supervisor was on break my second week into the job. I was cleaning out the rooms and folding and hanging the clothes when I see a bag from our store under the chair provided in the fitting room. Thinking someone left a paid item behind, I have to check for a receipt and follow the appropriate procedure. OH HOW I WISH IT WAS CLOTHES THAT WERE LEFT BEHIND. Someone decided they could not make it to the restroom across the store and used our bag as a portable toilet. (They pooped in the bag if you can't figure out where I am going with this.) BUT NOT ONLY THAT!! We leave a duster in the fitting rooms to dust off the tops of the racks of clothing on the floor, and the customer proceeded to clean themselves up with the feather duster. (Again if you can't see where I am going with this, they wiped their behind with our feather duster.) I have no idea who this customer was, and had no idea what to do. I left work early and went home and took 5 showers. WORST EXPERIENCE WORKING EVER!

My first job was the summer before my senior year of high school. I worked as a veterinary technician. I wanted to be a veterinarian. So my parents sent me out of state to Oahu, Hawaii because my aunt owns her own business there. I mostly answered phone calls, filed, cleaned, and worked on the computer. The fun part was greeting patients, taking their history, and watching surgeries. The worst part was watching my aunt put so many animals down. It was good sometimes because the animals were old and suffering. Other times it was really sad. Overall, I loved my first job as a veterinary technician. It was a great learning experience for me :).

Lunch Break is one of my fave series EVER on RU-vid and it makes me so happy when I see it in my RU-vid Subscription newsfeed hehe. My first job was at Wal-Mart during the summer of freshmen year of college. I worked there for 11 months. I was a Photo Lab Technician... sounds intense and cool but I basically just pressed a button to print peoples' pictures and occasionally changed the ink and paper rolls in the printers haha. It wasn't awful- I mean, it was waaaaaay better than being a Wal-Mart cashier (especially when it was a holiday... I sat in my little photo lab and watched my cashier friends suffer from an insane amount of customers piling up Christmas gifts or Valentine's Day chocolate on to belt). A lot of customers' are very, VERY impatient, pushy, and rude and I was always shocked by the way they treated us associates but I never took it personal since I most likely won't ever see them again and if I do, I probably won't remember them! Of course, there's always some super sweet and kind customers that just make your shift fly by just based on how they treat you and all that jazz haha. Positive vibes can do wonders... especially when it comes to grumpiness hehe. But yes, that was my first job. Did I like it? No BUT i believe i did learn lots from it. Would I ever go back to Wal-Mart? NOPE. NOPE. NOPE X123436573. Although I'm saying its not a bad job now- back then I remember really hating it lol. It was a good step in to adulthood i guess or at least a good step to building my resume at the time!

First job was also at Target, as a cashier. I was suffering from severe insomnia when I started. One day when I went in, it took me about six times to realize that I had been asking customers with milk cartons, "Would you like your bag milked?" (Instead of "Would you like your milk bagged?") I also used to watch the clock on the register screen so intensely while waiting for my break to roll around that I would tell customers the time instead of their change. Even if they didn't get change back, I'd say things along the lines of, "Here's your receipt, and your change is 3:09pm."

My first official payroll job was teaching middle school students at a summer STEM camp after my first year of college. My boss was verbally abusive and horrible at her job. There wasn't a single week were we had adequate materials, simply because she would forget things. I think my "horror story" would be the last day of the first week. The students were supposed to finish two robots (a VEX robot and an ROV). My coteacher and I had worked 21.5 hours the previous day (trying to prepare the motors that our supervisor had repeatedly forgot to mount) with a mere 1.5 hours of sleep before beginning work the next day. We were both tired and the kids were behind, but we had a plan to get them back on track. Our supervisor, though, refused to listen to us and took over the class. We didn't even know where the students were in the building. Then when the parents came to see the final works, not a single group had both robots working. Most didn't even have one working. My coteacher and I were the ones who were yelled at by the parents, but we hadn't even been allowed to do our jobs.

My first 2 jobs (because I got them around the same time) was a cashier at Bath & Body Works and at IHOP my freshman year of college. There wasn't really anything bad with BBW other than some customers arguing with each other for checkout and a customer who tried to pick a fight with my cousin (who also works there). IHOP was a whole different story! Like you guys said you meet interesting people, some nice ones, others not so much... I remember I had this one table of a family with two little girls (they looked to be at least 3 and 4) and they were SOOOO loud. I've done everything I could to help the parents out (like get the coloring menus and crayons we have for kids) but I get they were so stressed out that they began to take their frustration out on me. When I brought them they're food no one was happy at all and I wasn't sure what to do but just give it my best. The mom ordered oatmeal but one of the girls pushed her bowl off the table. I tried to grab it but I ended up with burning hot oatmeal all over my apron and pants. Soon my manager came out and talked to them while I was cleaning myself off. They were my last table before I got off so I greeted them goodnight and went to their table to clean so I could go home. There was oatmeal, pancakes, and shredded paper all over the floor, crayon marks all over the table, and a $2.00 tip. When I got home that night (like 1am) I was going to take a shower and I noticed my thighs were red and I splotches of blisters across my stomach from the burn.

My first job was as a hostess when I was in high school, and I remember hating it because my boss was incredibly strict. She didn't approve of my shoes, so I bought a new pair just for work, and then she claimed that new pair wouldn't work because they were "open-toed". I had to go to the shoe store twice because of her. She was pretty scary, so going to work made me feel pretty anxious. Whenever I made a mistake, she'd always be angry; I remember I made a mistake, and she smacked my arm! It didn't sting or anything, I just couldn't believe that actually happened... thank goodness I don't work there anymore

customer service for a newspaper publishing was my first job! had to answer hundreds of calls a day due to the quodata we needed to hit as one day we had at least 3 thousand calls and only ard 35 plus interns and part timers like me. It's so stressful and the worse thing is there's so many rude callers that swears at you for not delivering their newspapers on time, how the newspaper wasn't thrown properly, and landed out of the driveway or lawn. I learn my lesson, to always be kind and control my tempter when i am calling for customer service even though i waited for like ages. so be kind y'all

Technically, my first job was a summer at Subway. The customers there weren't so bad, but the owner of my store would literally stand next to you while you were draining the juice from a bag of olives and count any olives that fell into the sink. Except he didn't just count them like "1... 2... 3...", he made sure you knew that your incompetence in olive draining was costing him money. He counted each little olive slice like "One penny.... two penny... three penny..." Fortunately, he didn't hang around the store too often. The job that really taught me about people though was my job at Best Buy. I was there for almost five years and worked my way from cashier to supervisor. I'm pretty sure my friends and I could write a book about our tales from that experience!

My first job was at Abercrombie & Fitch, on my first day, someone (think it was a child or some teen) took a shit on the floor near the fitting rooms. If you ever went inside A&F or even walk by it, it always smells of strong cologne but that did not take away of the smell of the crap and what's worse is that a customer found it. Thankfully they did not make me clean it up! I also had to redo the whole entire wall of jeans (refold and re-sticker), 5 minutes after it was all done...it was a complete mess again.

First job was a lifeguard, I quickly got promoted to lead and being in Las Vegas there's a lot of crazy stuff that goes on. Alcohol and 100+ degree weather don't mix, a girl passed out in the pool, her friends panicked and tried to throw her out of the pool smashing her face into the wall breaking her nose. Lifeguards in Vegas aren't allowed to perform first aid unless it's life threatening so all we could do was call security and watch her bleed and everyone at the pool screaming at us angrily to do something. Also the time I had to guard a pool because maintenance messed up adding 10x the recommended chlorine so the water could burn your skin off. I had to literally tackle some guests from jumping in trying to be funny. OR the time I had to rescue 3 children all within the span of 5 minutes. Saved one kid and as soon as I got her out the pool I turn around and another starts drowning, then I finally get back on stand and my coworker yells at me and I look down to see another kid drowning. Besides all the poop, vomit, and blood on a weekly basis it was a fun job though! :D

My first job was at Eventz Extraordinaire as a "human directional". That's the technical term but we're the guys that stand on the street corner with huge card board arrows that point traffic towards the new housing projects. I got really good at balancing the sign and performing acrobatics. Back in the day it was $10/hr plus tip on the weekends - if the real estate agents got feedback from the prospective home owners. After my first day on the job in Tustin, I had 2/3rd degree burns on my neck and shoulders from standing in the sun for 8 hours without sunblock. When I got home and removed my uniform t-shirt, my skin peeled off with it. My next assignment was the new Irvine housing projects. You'd think in a rich & classy area that I wouldn't be a target.. well I was wrong. While standing on the corner listening to my tunes and dancing with the sign, these rich kids came by in their jeeps and started throwing oranges at me. Fortunately, I got my big card board arrow so I deflected them but it got really tiring after multiple air strikes lol.. Keep in my mind I have to wear a white polo, white base ball cap & white shorts. So after that, these kids started to go stealth mode. At the red light they would park parallel close to the street corner where I was in position and tried to soak me. I was wondering why they would put their car forward n reverse to line up next to me. It's because these kids twisted their windshield wiper nozzles towards the passenger side so they could drive by and shoot me with wiper fluid haha. My white polo turned all blue. Looking back, I had a lot of great memories. Sometimes random people would honk their horns and cheer me on as while i did sign stunts and that would totally brighten my day.

My first job was in high school at a horse farm as a "farm hand". That basically means I had to clean the stalls of equine poo and pee at 5 o'clock in the morning... Every morning for 2 years. I also had to feed, clean out their buckets, etc. My employer was also SUPER picky and she would come out everyday after I was done to inspect the cleanliness of my work. A lot of the time I had to redo things, even though it was flawless!

My first job was at my dads business, AmericanHardBag. I had to assemble wires for speakers. For a wail there was no chairs at the shop so it was hours of standing. I also worked at Car Audio Innovations witch was my first job with an actual paycheck to cash out, it was a lot of cleaning after the other workers and sanding wood or plastic. Both were great jobs.

My first job, was @ Historic Fort Apache Gift shop as a Clerk and Tour Guide. All we did was clean every morning, run around the Fort playing in the old buildings, and go to the "Apache Village" and gave only 2 tours the whole time. we helped get branches for wickiups and got eaten by mosquitoes. My worst job, was working as a Dishwasher, at Hon-Dah Casino. It just sucked, and I was so happy it was only a summer job. i had to stay at my station ALL the time! I forgot about pots and pans, and being treated awful by all the other workers, in the kitchen, my favorite part was when they made me kill flies, with a blow torch. =P

So, my first "job" was actually an internship when I as 14. I worked with United Way and Atlanta Partners for Education in the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. It was actually pretty fun. I had internships like this pretty much every summer when I was in high school. My horror story is working at Forever 21 when I was a senior. I worked there for 3 days and I quit because they stuck me in the dressing room (even when the manager told them not to) and I was wearing heels because I didn't have any flat dress shoes, only sneakers. People were constantly throwing stuff around for the entire shift and the staff was super rude to me and I couldn't take it. My favorite job was working at Build-A-Bear workshop over Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks when I was in college. That was super fun every season!

As soon as I turned 16 I started looking for a place to work. I ended up getting a job at the Disney Store as a sales associate and like Christine said, the company is very particular when it comes to customer service and the way they do things. My second week on the job was the week after Thanksgiving when everyone started their Christmas shopping. I worked the floor fixing clothes and it was really crowded & I got easily flustered with all the people. One night a customer complained that I wasn't smiling enough, even though I was trying very hard not to get flustered. My manager didn't seem too happy, so she sent me home early after only working for about an hour that day. I remember crying the entire time on the bus ride home because I really thought that I was going to get fired.

My first job was back in senior year of high school. I was a stocker at a chinese 99 cent store. So I would go around the store and see if anything that needed to be refill (restocked), I had to go to the back store and bring out new merchandises to stock them on the shelves. Like David So, I had to walk next to some customers to make sure they are not stealing. I also had to be at the cash register to ring up sales and make balloons. The most annoying things are people picked up some things and walked around, in the end they don't want it, the just dump it on the spot. They would always ask about the price and complaint about how those items are not 99 cents when the store clearly say its a 99 cent store.

My first job was at the UC San Diego Department of Economics as an administrative assistant. The worst things that I have done were to clean up after the TA's mess in the graduate student lounge and a dust a fake plant in the staff lounge :( The mess consisted of spilled coffee, leftover breakfast items, and an array of blue books that TAs were grading. It was all cleaned up by me and not a janitor.

My first job was right after I graduated from high school, at Office Depot as a cashier. I was working there for about a good 3 months until one seemingly normal day, I was at the register calling the next person in line. I was ringing up his purchase for toner when all of a sudden I started to have this really sharp pain in my stomach. It was like a stabbing kind of pain to the point where I had to save myself from falling to the floor. So I gripped on to hold the desk and bent over to try and lessen the pain. My supervisor came out from this room behind the register and saw me suffering. She asked if I was okay, and once I tried to stand back up and answer her, everything went pitch black. The next thing I know, I wake up, and the same supervisor who asked me if I was okay was trying her best to hold me up and not let me fall to the ground. Mind you, she's shy of 4'10" and I'm 5'2 so she was using all her strength to keep me up! I hear the firetruck pull up, and the paramedics and firefighters rush in to help relieve my dead weight from my supervisor. My parents ended up coming as well and by the time they saw me, I was sitting on a chair with my legs elevated. My mom came to my side and when I tried to speak, I started to have - what the paramedics said - a panic attack. I couldn't breathe!!! I was gasping for air and I thought I was going to die. T__T But luckily the symptoms subsided after a few minutes (felt like forever). My parents took me home and I was so embarrassed to show up to work again. I ended up giving them my 2 weeks notice because I got so scarred from that experience I didn't want to work for a good while. I don't know what caused it either. I barely remember the look of fear on the toner guy's face before I passed out. LOL so funny reliving this experience.

My very first job was at a chain restaurant in the Midwest, called Freddy's Steakburgers. I wasn't allowed to get a job at 16, but rebelled after seeing on Craigslist that they had open interviews before their grand opening. I had never heard of this place, but I told myself, "Psh... I can totally make custards and milkshakes." I got the job, I worked for a week, then I quit. The first 3 days was training and I remember having to learn how to scoop ice cream correctly, and standing there for 2 hours scooping ice cream. I cried because I was yelled at for not knowing what type of bread is used on a Patty Melt. They didn't have a mop when they first opened, so the restaurant would close at 10, but my coworkers and I had to scrub the floors on our hands and knees; however, I had bathroom duty at night for the 4 additional days I worked. SO I was in restaurant hell for 7 days straight and the day I quit was actually the day of my birthday! 0/10 would not recommend!

My first job is when I'm 14 y/o during my school's holidays. I was working as a part-timer in a game store that sells all those game CDs and PSP,PS2,XBOX and all kinds of games you've played. The worst part of that is during my first day working there, I was really scared of asking my boss for me to go out for awhile to have dinner. But that time it was like 5pm and I was already doing something which is clearing and stacking all the CDs in the store room (fyi, the store room is huge and there's a lot of things to do). So after doing all those, the time strikes 8pm and I missed my dinner time and I'm kinda scared to ask for a leave... But it was cool after the day of that day... My very first experience in life.

My first job was during the summer after my freshman year in college. I was working as a cart boy at the Costco in Alhambra during the hottest weeks of that summer. Keep in mind, that the carts in Costco are all metal and are a lot heavier than the ones at Target :P After the first week, I got 10 shades darker (total soy sauce chicken for the canto speakers) and my entire body was sore. So I put in my two weeks and was out of there after a total of three weeks.

I've worked retail for all of my jobs so Christine I feel you! For one of my first jobs as a manager I found poop underneath the bench in the fitting room... (so many emojis I can think to insert right now lol!) That same month a girl and her mom were ringing out and the girl kept saying to her mom she did not feel well and her mom said hold on I'm paying. She ended up throwing up all over the cash and wrap. Fortunately she missed me... but that was only because I ducked down. lol. Anyway I must say I look forward to every Thursday! Lunch break always makes me laugh! :)

My first job in high school was driving a paper route in the early morning before school. We're talking like 4-5am when it was pitch black outside. I was driving an old junker car without heat in the dead of a Chicagoland winter -- and the window, which I had to roll down in order to deliver the papers, wouldn't roll back up! Everyday was hard, but the worst day was when we had a bad ice storm. The roads were covered in a sheet of ice and I had to navigate driveways and everything without slipping and crashing into people's homes, garages, or mailboxes. I successfully avoided any disaster that day while on my route, but then, on the way to school, I hit a parked car when my wheels locked up and I went skidding across the ice. Turns out the car I hit belonged to a fellow student at my school and so I had to go around all day hearing about how some idiot (me) had hit his car. All my pride in my early morning success went out the broken-down window that day. Good times.

My first real job was pretty interesting. I was a senior in high school (I had to do summer school for math so I didn't graduate in May with the rest of my friends) and I was a paid summer intern at Unilever (through an inner city youth employment program). I did summer school in the morning and went to afternoon training but on the first day of training I was leaving to go to summer school and I was hit by a car and knocked off my bike. Clearly I didn't make it to summer school but I was so afraid to miss training because I was told if I miss even one day I will be let go and replaced so I went in the house, patched myself up and cleaned up my injuries as best I could, tried to sleep off the pain, and when the time came I went to training. No one knew what had happened until about an hour and a half into training when we went on break and I asked if it was ok to take pain killers on the premises. One of the trainers asked why and I told her what happened and she was like "WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE?!" and stupid me was like "I didn't want to miss the first day of training". I was told to go home but the bus only came by once an hour so by the time it came back around training would be over so I waited it out and ended up passing out in the back of the room at my seat. Luckily a loud training video scared me awake. It was a very... different first day of work from what I expected.

my first job was a sales associate @ Quiksilver Roxy on 5th Ave NY store. I was actually a fun job for me because I love the brand and everyone worked there kind of carried the same happy spirits. The only terrible thing I can think of is one time our store's AC was broken for almost a month and it was like 100 degree summer time. I remember so many customers walked in and just complained to us about how horrible that we didn't have AC. Some of them still decided to try on some clothing and that was gross... but we ended up getting free ice cream on our break time for almost a month.

My first job was actually at Tapioca Express. I was either a junior or senior in high school. My cousins second cousin is the owner. So, he let me worked there. Sadly didn't last very long though. My worse experience was that there was huge rush and I was out working in the “bar” and I was trying to keep up at each customers orders. There was this one woman that was at first waiting and then a few minutes later was complaining and yelling at me and my coworkers. She demanded where her drink/order was. I was scared because she was yelling at me and was angry. Luckily my coworkers defended me! Later I found out that she was a health inspector or some sort of inspector. I now appreciate those who work in the food industry and try to be a patient customer.

My first job was as a temp receptionist at a small tenant office building. So I was the only person in the reception office, and the worst thing happened my first week, of course. So I'm sitting there and the phone rings and I answer, and it is an automated message saying someone in the building has called 911. So I am freaking out and not sure what to do. I start wondering around looking for someone in distress, and the police arrive. Everyone is going around each office in the building trying to find out what was happening. And when we regroup with no answers, one of the tenants comes out of his office all confused and then I see realization dawn on his face. Apparently he was sending a fax and accidentally mis-dialed the number and punched in 911 in the process. That same week, the police had to come again, because a super paranoid tenant had an alarm on his office door that was faulty and kept on going off. Of course the tenant wasn't even in the state at that time and there was no way to turn it off. So all day, the alarm just kept on blaring and the police kept on coming and there was nothing that could be done.

my first job was working at my parent's ice cream store, family business! and before anyone starts saying "oh you were so lucky you got all the ice cream you wanted" it probably was something I could have done but I didn't do that. My parents and brothers taught me good work ethics for when I got old enough to work and get paid. So that was a good job to learn from but not really get paid. I actually miss working there, my family actually knows the owner/family of the people who own the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory in Chinatown, NY. But my first paying job, I worked at a supermarket as a bagger first then a cashier, I think that job underestimated the stuff I could do and kept me as a bagger for a good month or so when I saw my friends who started after me become cashiers first and then start getting higher jobs. Maybe they thought I was going crazy that I worked at a family business.

My first job was in T.G.I. Friday's as a dishwasher. They would only schedule me from 7PM-3AM because that was when it was most busy and this kind of sucked because I was a freshman in college and I still had school to worry about. I remember coming home drenched in dirty dish water and I would always have some sort of rash on my hands because they wouldn't give me gloves to wear. Not only was I constantly drenched, but they would also make me mop the walk-in freezer every night, so you can imagine how often I was sick. I remember being on my knees and scrubbing the floor and the coworkers would laugh at me and say, "You can get up now. Your punishment is over." like I was some kid who was getting punished at home. It was embarrassing and extremely degrading. I remember the servers at the restaurant would throw trash on the ground and make me pick it up like it was my job. I feel like the servers would get treated badly from customers so then they would take it out on me. They would never clear the dishes and put them in the correct spot so that I could wash them. Majority of the workers were Hispanic or Caucasian and sometimes I would get comments like, "You're Asian. What are you doing here?" They treated me like I was incompetent, but I did fairly well in high school and I am doing pretty okay at CSU Long Beach. The sad part was that I worked here for about a year before I actually left. And until the day I left, I always treated everyone with respect no matter how bad they treated me.
