This tree would test us - our battery powered Husqvarna chainsaw would have to earn its keep - until now it had only been used to gather firewood.
On route to Nelson's Crag in the Vic High Country, our IVECO 4WD ULTRA TOURER Truck Camper couldn't quite squeeze under the shattered Mountain Gum...there was only one solution.

Very nice, thank you 🙏. Never been a big fan of the electric chainsaw, I’m sure they have their place,but I’m very slowly coming around. i’ve been caught out in bad weather events in the high country and needed to plough through tracks full of trees. I don’t think the electric saws will cut it. Good work ❤

I'm hearing you Luca...this was merely to appease my curiosity more than anything. The High Country still warrants a bit more capacity/capability. I'll still be dragging a 'real' saw around on longer trips.

Did you poke your nose down to the Moroka River at Higgins Yard? The turn off is at Doolans Plain to the right. You went straight on to The Watchtower. Supposed to be MVO but each time I have been there the gate has been open. Nice secluded camps along the Moroka.

I have been there but not on this trip…gates open doesn’t mean we are allowed. Many gates get damaged.

Hey mate nice video. How long did you get out of the saw? Does it just stop when battery gets too low or power drops?

Typical lithium…100% or nothing. It runs at full revs then trips out…give it a short rest and it’s 100% again. I suspect this is how it manages battery longevity. Battery wasn’t necessarily fully charged before attempting this log and I never charged during…I was very impressed. It was a green log and sharp chain.

Enjoyed that. Ive been along the Moroka Road many times but never been out to Nelson’s Crag. Have you been over Mt Wellington to Millers Hut? Fantastic views from the top, and from The Sentinels. I carry a Husky 350 with an 18-inch bar when I’m up that way. Must admit I didn’t expect your battery saw to manage two cuts through that tree. Impressed. Cheers! Chris.
