Never been to Austin but every time you guys go there, it's a reminder we need to make the trip! So excited for your travel break - you totally deserve it after framing a whole friggin house!
It looks like you had a lot of fun. I have gotten to spend time in Austin twice in my life.Once in the early 70s and once in the late 70s. Even back then at was an amazing and quirky place. On my second visit I wandered into a bar and got to see and hear a band called triple threat. Two of the members were Stevie Ray Vaughn and his brother. This was before they were famous. I was in awe of SRV and knew that he was going to be big. So it was very fitting that when I rediscovered him, it was on the PBS show Austin City Limits. It looks like there is even more cool stuff going on now. But it also looks like it's more expensive.
So glad y’all are enjoying my home town! I’ve been here since I was 2, and it has changed a lot… but there is always something to enjoy if you look hard enough! Have fun exploring!
OK. You guys are legit. I live just up the street from Flitch. It’s the most go to coffee spot among locals and is missed by tourists. I haven’t seen the rest of your video but you’re on track so far. Kudos to you!
You hit the nail on the head with the movie Idiocracy 🎬 . Our world is on the fast track to stupidity. You ask a kid something, and the first thing they do is grab their phone. So sad. Love the videos, guys.
Here you guys are supposed to be taking some relaxing time for you both. But I guess you can't stay still long enough to relax. Always thinking of us! I guess that's why I'm so reacted to watching your videos. ❤ you guys stay safe enjoy and see you in your next video!! Safe travels 🙏
I just started watching this. It should be quite interesting as I have lived just north of Austin for the past 33 years. I can hardly wait to see what you have stumbled across that I never knew about.
O’Brother Where Art Thou reference, Check! We were just in Nashville for the weekend and it’s the same there! Ever place is 15 minutes from everywhere else, a true geographical oddity! 😂😂😂
The one time I’ve been to Austin I’ve stayed at that exact hotel 😂 I’ve been living in Dallas for 6 years but I need to go back to Austin for a few days. Thank you for the good ideas and tips on where to go! ❤
that seemed fun! I like that y'all enjoyed the cool pool in 100 degree Fahrenheit weather. good food. and the bats seems so amazing! I wonder if there's a lot of bugs for them to eat when they come out at night. in Sacramento, CA where I'm currently at, I just see 1 or 2 at night when I wake up middle of the night around 3 or 4 am. can't wait to see what place you guys end up next! I hope you guys enjoy your break from building.
Too bad about the pie, but that's how we learn. I confess to cheating when I make pies in the backcountry. Graham cracker crusts and gelatin based fillings. I hope the rest of your weekend was a success and happy thanksgiving.
When folks say that Austin is not the same anymore, what they really mean is that Austin has become much more expensive to live in. It’s still a great place for music, arts, food, and scenic beauty. Traffic has always been a nightmare at times.
That bar with all the signs looked so cool 😎 Reminds of The Neon Museum in Las Vegas except with all the retro stuff to check out while having a drink 🥃
Really enjoyed this video. I’ve been to Texas several times but mostly in the Houston and Galveston areas when I worked for the cruise lines. Visited friends in Sanger. Need to get to Tyler to see family. DYING to go to Austin. Have heard they have some of the best bbq in the country.
Great video, but were you all aware how big last weekend was in regards to tourism for Austin and how much traffic having this out on Thursday would have brought? F1 race + massive Texas/Georgia game and tons of folks who would have tried all of your spots
The last time I went through Austin was October 31 1985, I don’t remember what street it was but they blocked off a street Downtown for a Halloween Party! So we spent a couple hours enjoying the party! I was driving from Miami to Van Nuys CA! It says the population was 466, 000 back then, it didn’t look it! Now it’s 2.2 million. So it’s grown a little 😁
It was probably 6th street...it actually still becomes pedestrian-only on weekend nights. And yep, it's one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. I guess the secret's out 😅
