I highly recommend it! I have been very fortunate to see several humpback whales when I lived in California. And, when they breach almost completely out of the water,... no pic or video can ever do them justice! 🐋
@liamg2271
@liamg2271 Год назад
They're absolutely remarkable animals. I had the privilege of seeing and hearing them every day from my Aunt's house in Hawaii (Big Island). Every time they breached it was like Christmas morning as a child. The size of them, combined with their grace and agility is unfathomable until you actually see them up close. It's a spiritual experience I can't even explain. The fact that we humans have almost brought Humpbacks and other Whales to extinction is ignominious and a condemnation of our race.

David Attenborough narrates many, many nature documentaries. May I recommend "Blue Planet," "Blue Planet II," "Planet Earth," and "Planet Earth II?" As well as "Our Planet," which this clip is from. They are docuseries that you can watch on BBC or BBC America, also Netflix, Hulu, and the BBC channels on SlingTV. I believe they are also on Amazon Prime Video. There are more (One called "Natural Curiosities" too...), just type his name into your search engine. (My husband calls him "Winnie Pooh man" lol!)

What's interesting is the melting arctic is actually helping whales rebound. The melting sea ice and Northern Rivers are letting off huge algae blooms that plankton feed off of and thus the whales feed off the huge plankton growth.

And now Japan will reduce the population of this amazing creatures through industrial whaling. I am surprised that removing ban on industrial whaling didn't cause much opposition.
@WatcherMovie008
@WatcherMovie008 4 года назад
Japan whaling is severely reduced compared to how it was decades ago. It still a big problem, but economic stresses has put Japan in a tight spot. As the for reason why industrial whaling was banned overall easily, whaling by the 50s and onward was seen as unfashionable, barbaric, cruel, and beyond obsolete (whale oil was used for lantern light until petroleum was found). Also it has shown that ecologically, by taking out a species that plays a major role in the ecosystem (humpback and other baleen type whales rely on krill to be the big giants they are), it causes hazardous scenarios to play out (an increase of krill population would be devastating to plankton and algae population, which in turns would be devastating to the planet's oxygen production).
