Maple likes to go onto the grass to pee but not necessarily to poop, so we use a pee pad at home! She heads down for a pee during her walks though.

Hi there, thanks for leaving us a comment and subscribing! Yup, Maple did that quite a bit when she was younger. We found that when we were quick enough to catch her when she misbehaves, we would ignore her, then give her another command. If she follows that command, then we would reward her for showing that positive behaviour. If Walker's food-motivated, we found that it was useful when we brought treats out. This way, we taught Maple to "heel" each time, rewarding her behaviour. Shelties are really intelligent, so it would not be long before they understand what we want! Toilet training takes a while - Maple took about a good year before we trusted her toilet training. Walker sounds like a good boi - we will be sure to put up some tips of training in the future if you're interested in watching those! :)

@@maplesheltie Thank you for your quick reply! I would love to see your tips on toilet training and behavior, while I raise my pup. He is suddenly doing a bit better with his toilet training. As soon as he yips in the morning, I throw on my clothes and take him outside on the leash for a quick walk to the corner. This seems to motivate him to do his business outside, as long as I catch him before he messes on the pee pad! I’ve also noticed that if he drinks or eats, that he will shortly after need to go out for toilet duty.
