Recently Momo has developed a condition called FIC or Feline Interstitial Cystitis. This is an inflammation that affects the bladder and urinary tract. Unfortunately, it is highly influenced by external stresses and anxiety is a huge cause. Since we found out that Momo struggles with this condition we have had numerous trips to the vet. The treatment includes specific foods as well as anti-inflammatories and calming collars. Because it is so dependent on stress, it is prone to flare-ups, so treating it is challenging.

My siamese cat elmer had FIC. The Dr prescribed him a medication called Prazosin and it seemed to help. After a few flare ups and adjutmrnts of the medication it didnt reoccur.

I think that's the third option we were given in case the collar and food do not work. Luckily for now the food and collar seem to be working 😄

@@MomoSiamese Here in the United States Prazosin is only sold in capsules for humans. To get the 0.5mg dose that Elmer needed to take 3x a day we had to order specially made cat pills from a compounding pharmacy. In the rest of the world it looks like they sell 1mg tablets so you can split them in half so that should be way cheaper. I don't know how it works there but here we can either get the meds directly from the vet or for things that are just human medications we can have the vet write a prescription and get them from a human pharmacy. That's what we did with Elmer, in addition to The FIC he had diabetes for the last 7 years of his life and we had to give him insulin twice a day. My mother used to joke that diabetes runs in the family, her two sisters had it. Her aunt had it. Even that cat had it.

Hey there! Hope your cats are doing better! So y’all had previously made videos about the cbd oil and the calming collars. Over all did you find the collars to be more effective? How’s Momo doing with anxiety?

Hey! They are all doing great! Yes the collar is by far an easier and more effective option. The oil you need to be quite meticulous with how and when to give it to them. Momo still has issues every now and then if his routine is changed but other than that he is 100%.
