Finally after many months of waiting, our Starlink broadband internet system has arrived (cost $110/mo, hardware $599). We live in a rural area so getting faster internet speeds has been a major goal the last few years. Our current system uses VDSL setup and we typically receive about 15-20 Mbps, with the Starlink system we hope to get over 100 Mbps.
This video shows us installing the Starling dish the Space Ex designed pole. We decided to go this route versus installing on the roof, we would never install anything on the roof, too worried about getting leaks eventually.
We set the post using Sika PostFix Fence Post Mix, see how it works in this video. We also used the Fiskar's Edging Tool, this made the trenching much easier. Thanks for watching!

I'm not sure I would feel as comfortable placing my receiver at such an accessible level. I would want someone to have to work harder taking it and walking off with it than it did my installing it. Awesome job though and I didn't know about the Sika Pro either. Thanks for your video and post mix recommendation. God bless 🙌🙌🙌❤❤❤

Anxious to hear how well Starlink works for you up there. Looks like some great exercise!

Me too, I hope I can cancel my current provider, CenturyLink.

@@UpNorthNybergs Holy smokes. We just got the word today about our StarLink so was wondering one year out what you thought about it and the PostFix one year out as well. Count your lucky stars on the CenturyLink. Ours that we pay nearly $100/month for is BARELY 3 mbps! It is horrible.
@acatismansbestfriend5719
@acatismansbestfriend5719 11 месяцев назад
P.S. Did you have to buy additional cable? We are thinking of doing the same as you, but ours would need to be a ways out from the house. Does it come in longer lengths than what I am seeing of the 75 ft?

Just got my starlink here in rural Florida. Our current satellite internet is 3mpb. Starlink increased it to 65mpb on the ground without a pole. Pole is next.

Awesome!! We really like ours…we are getting about 80-100Mbs on average, it was a huge improvement. Good luck with setting your pole!

It is great to see people like you that get 25 MBS internet getting starlink while those of us that have 1.5 MBS DSL are stuck waiting because of people that really don't need Starlink taking up the bandwith of the satellites!!!
@UpNorthNybergs
@UpNorthNybergs Год назад
Sorry, I wish they could go faster. My wife and I both work from home and the 25 Mbs just wasn’t cutting it. Most of the time we were way below 25, more like 8-10.

Question: Why not stay at the top of the hill versus going down it? Higher is better for satellite signal search lock. Great video, guys!

Thanks for the question…unfortunately my house was blocking too much sky visibility. I used their app to find the best visibility, this spot actually got me an “excellent” on the app and so far so good. I’ll do an update to let you see what my results have been. Thanks so much for watching!! Best, Ed

How long is the pole in total?
@chazsutherland
@chazsutherland Год назад
Nice work but I'm concerned about the end of the pipe nearest your home. Have you raised the opening and/or covered it? It currenlty looks susceptible to backwash from rain or even your sprnkler system (if you have one) and a haven for vermin.
@UpNorthNybergs

Hi Chaz, yes, I have it completely sealed. I found a couple of rubber “lids” that are working great! Thanks for watching!!

Nice Kenny! I bet there is a way to attach it, they make all these adapters now I bet you could find something. The Google always helps ;-) good luck!!
@adamfreeman1070

The original foot mount it comes with can also attach to your roof and works well just lag bolt and silicone it. It’s held harsh Canadian winters for me :)

Hello, did you have to purchase a pole adapter or does the satellite connect right to the pole?
@UpNorthNybergs

Good question…sorry, should have mentioned that the pole fits nicely in the dish without an adapter. I have a 6 month review coming out on Saturday, if interested. Thanks for watching!

how tall is the mount when fully extended? that is the ground pole mount from the starlink website correct? when using the app i get 98% obstruction free. hope that little 2% doesn't affect my connection too much as it is the only spot i have to put it on my property.
@UpNorthNybergs

Hello, the pole is 88.9” high and is now around $55… 98% obstructive free should give you good coverage and zero issues. Good luck!!

Now that it has been a year or so since you installed the pole and buried the cable, any updates or issues with your installation? How did your pole installation fare over the Winter and the Spring? Anything you would have done differently with your pole installation?

No issues at all...our winter was very mild, though. I wouldn't have done anything differently. Ask me in 5 years ;-)

How did you feed the cable through the pipe?
@UpNorthNybergs

Good question! The cable was stiff enough to snake through without any issues…I taped the end up to protect it and it acted somewhat like a ball.

Yes, it was from Starlink…it was easier than trying to modify another type of pole. However, I think any pole would work fine.
