This list requires a Number ELEVEN...! I think 2023 is the year that Parlogram and Andrew have become the definitive Beatles channel on RU-vid, or any tube really! In particular, no other Beatles channel conveys or recreates the special feeling and excitement of what it was like when The Beatles released new material. The forensic research and entertaining presentation of little known details make this THE go to Beatles channel. I hope Apple and the surviving Beatles appreciate the great work of Parlogram and take on board all the suggestions and comments. Keep up the the good work in 2024!
Another highly entertaining post. Releasing the MMT tracks and the unreleased singles as an LP resulted (in America) in the perfect follow up to Sergeant Pepper. Whereas in Britain the Pepper album follow up was The Beatles White Album, altogether and to many people, too different from Pepper.
A great overview of a great year for this channel! Thanks for providing such great entertainment for another year. Happy New Year to you and your family Andrew as well as everyone in this community. Here’s to a great 2024!!
Thank you, Andrew for a wonderful year of excellent and enjoyable episodes. I look forward to what you have in store for us in 2024. Happy New Year!!! - Roger
A lot of fandoms are such a mess with the artists' works and careers so hackily curated but with Andrew and Parlogram we have an effort that is truly top-shelf commensurate with what artists as important as the Beatles deserve. Your content was award winning this year.
As someone who still has my original copy of the Capitol mono version of Magical Mystery Tour I've been wondering if the 80s MMT stereo CD has the Capitol/EMI/or Air Studios mix on some of the songs..
I happen to like "Hey Bulldog". I think it's one of their more rocking songs. The Stereo separation in the movie soundtrack is fantastic, but the movie track version of the, the stereo is much more narrow.
Extremely high production quality Andrew. You set the standard and it is indeed a treat. A very Happy New Year to you and your's and we eagerly await another great year of your outstanding programming.
Andrew, Thanks again for all you do. Truly outstanding!! Tell me, how many different SHIRTS did you wear in the making of this video?? I seem to have lost count.... Cheers! And best wishes for the New Year!! From George B. in the Boston, MA USA area
Thank you for this video. I have a genuine version of 'Introducing the Beatles,' purchased in 1964. At the time, I'd finally succeeded in convincing my dad to buy 'Meet the Beatles' for me but when 'The Beatles Second Album' was released so quickly in April 1964, he complained that he'd just bought me a Beatles album. Instead, he bought the VeeJay album because it was less expensive than the Capitol releases.
Apparently, the “McCartney-Lennon” saga is not over. Or it's making a comeback. I found this article below, copied it, and pasted it here. I am too lazy to write my own version of this article. "A few years ago, Paul floated the idea and fans went nuts. No one wanted the change even though some early Beatles records actually have labels that read “McCartney-Lennon.” One early single actually reads “McCarthy- Lennon.” So there is precedent for this decision. But now, after 60-plus years, Paul gets his way. In his new two volumes called “The Lyrics,” covering 154 songs, Paul has reversed the byline. All the songs he wrote or primarily wrote, are credited Writers: Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Those songs include all the obvious ones including “Yesterday,” “Hey Jude,” “Let it Be,” “Long and Winding Road,” and even “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” There are plenty of others, too, from “Paperback Writer” to “She’s a Woman” and “Obla Di Obla Da.” Paul doesn’t do it to songs Lennon wrote, or that they collaborated on."
Hi Andrew, thanks for all the great work, hope you have a great new year, I have a question. I’m looking to get the albums on Vinyl in Stereo, I’ve two options in my price range, the BC13 collection pressed in Italy in EX/NM condition, or get the albums individually, in VG+ condition, all late 70’s and early 80’s UK pressings expect please please me, which is the German 1974 Apple pressing Which do you think I should get? There’s very little in the price difference, thanks again!
Thank you for the videos, Andrew! Just like you, I am a passionate Beatles collector, always happy to add a new trophy to my small collection, and your uploads have helped me a lot in this pursuit. Happy new year!
Love the McCartney - Lennon credit which is why I favour The Beatles Hits Ep, where all four tracks have that credit. It occurs to me that if you were to remove all the cover songs and add the Ringo version of Love Me Do, plus From Me To You and Thank You Girl, you would have fifteen tracks. All mono. And label the album, "McCartney-Lennen." Maybe add superior versions of Please Please Me. I would buy this album in a heartbeat.
Great round-up of the year Andrew, thanks. Like you, I wished McCartney had included the "I don't want to lose you" segment in Now And Then, as it's the best bit. But maybe it leaves some kind of door open for an official release as there are some (very good) unofficial versions out there?
Hello, I'm from Argentina, I always imagined what the next Beatles album would have been like if they hadn't broken up. I imagine it would have been a double album, the black album, taking songs from Paul's first 2 albums, John's first 2, George's solo debut and some of Ringo's from his debut covers album. It would be great to see a video with this idea, your channel is very good. greetings
For magical mystery tour, only 3 of the 5 songs on side 2 were fake stereo. The German release and subsequent worldwide releases which include ALL cd releases use that German release's stereo mixes and we've now lost the superior original stereo mix of Strawberry Fields Forever.
Thanks mate! I truly enjoy your content, you add a great deal.of flair and panache to the stories of the Beatles that I have grown up with. Happy New Year and here is 🥂 to another 20,000 in 2024!
Happy new year Andrew and happy new year to pyelogram options as well I hope you have had a great New Year’s eve I love the stories behind it please please me album and all the other stories that you’ve covered so far especially the red in the blue album.
Excellent end of year review. Even though I'd already seen most of your content throughout the year, it was great to watch this and remember all of the highlights - and there were many.
I was hoping you’d do a “year in review” kind of thing. Well done!! Thanks for the fun and informative weekends. I really look forward to your reviews. Makes me go back and relisten on certain Lp’s/CDs. Truly makes me happy that I was a listener and collector. Well, here’s to another year of weekends Andrew! Happy New Year.🎉
Thank you, Andrew, for your videos. I am one of those new 20,000 subscribers. I am a first-generation American Beatles' fan and have learned so much form you. Happy 2024!
Thanks for everything this past year, Andrew! 1963 is my favorite year in Beatle history and you covered the 60th anniversary beautifully. Just made a small donation! Thanks again.
Happy New year, Andrew! Thnx 4 all the awesome Beatles/Beatles related Videos. I'd love to See more solo/Post Beatles projects covered. Don't shy away from lesser known/liked projects as well (McGear Album, Holly Days, Electronic Sound - a ZAPPLE special!?) Unless you're not interested in a topic like that yourself. If it's not commercial enough, but you are interested, maybe a patreon exclusive Video might do the Trick!? Kindly regards, Boris.
Thank you Andrew for the amazing job you have been doing with your videos. Detailed, extraordinarily informative and entertaining. It's been a great year to spend with your videos every weekend and you have helped me a lot with my small record collection (got German MMT, YS Songtrack + some mint DeAgostini after watching your videos). Thanks again and here's to a fruitful and healthy 2024 🥂 Happy New Year to Parlogram and all fans around the world. Luisa from Italy
Thanks Andrew for your fab videos throughout the year...your presentation is spot on ....always interesting whatever the stories. .very informative..Happy new year to all at Parlogram
Thanks for another great year Andrew. As always, top notch videos and material that are a joy to watch not only because of the research and knowledge you share, but also because of the passion and excitement you clearly have (like the rest of us) when it comes to anything "Beatle". I thank you (we all do I'm sure) for all your hard work. As a collector (and self confessed Beatle nut) since 1975, i can't wait to see what you have in store for us "Apple Scruffs" in 2024! Happy New Year from Canada Good luck, good health and I hope the sun shines on everything you do!!!!
"Another year over....and a new one just begun". Sorry, had to do that. Great videos as always, and I espeically liked the Introducing The Beatles counterfited LP. I lived in Gary, Indiana for about the first 6 or 7 years of my life. The only thing I was aware of was Gary's connection to Michael Jackson and his family. Our family lived on the west side of Gary, while Michael's family lived on the east side of Gary. Later on, when becoming more immersed in the Beatles and the U.S. albums, many articles about VJ Records would state that they are a Chicago based record label, which is incorrect. I think, because of Gary's close proximity to Chicago, that writers thought Chicago was where VJ was located at. So. as I was from one city that had a Beatles connection, I live near a city today that also has a Beatles connection: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Home to Swan Records, which produced the single She Loves You, and telling it's record buyers "Don't Drop Out".
Thanks for the uploads Andrew a superb channel and one that has given us all lots of great new info but also hours of fun and entertainment. I wish you and all your loved ones a very happy and prosperous New Year. Kind regards Tim
(aceopinions - Tom) Andrew, thank you for providing such informative and detailed videos on my favorite band of all time. I discovered your channel some three months ago, and have learned so much from you. Your knowledge, format, delivery, and content detail is just superb. In particular, I appreciate the details you provide that really fill in the gaps to every story. Although an obsessed fan, I never knew or paid that much attention to some of those details you provide and I am so grateful that you provided this newly acquired knowledge - more comment on this topic in another post. I am a US first generation fan ( age 68) that remembers the Beatles on Ed Sullivan on 9 February, 1964 and was hooked from that day. Your videos continue to enhance that experience for me. All the best in the new year.
What a Beatles year it has been. Not the year I was expecting. At the start of the year I expected 1963 box sets. But they never materialised. No way was I expecting The Beatles to get to number 1 with a new song, and to do battle with their old rivals The Rolling Stones who released brand new material at the same time. I feel 2023 has ended up being the last hurrah for the 60s. Or maybe not. Peter Jackson’s technology might yet result in more treasures.
I've found the counterfeit edition of Introducing The Beatles has a weird error in the upper right hand of the photo. It appears to be a small rip showing the wooden backing the counterfeit photo was placed on. However, I recall buying it at a shop in Robinsdale MN with my family. Years later I wonder who was pulling the heist... the shop or the shop's record distributor?!
Hi Andrew I have been a fan of your channel on utube for a good many years I was just thinking as it's now coming up to the 60th anniversary of A Hard Days Night the best musical ever in my opinion don't you think it's time they release it in colour and Peter Jackson would be the man perfect copy of the film I do have a bootleg copy in colour but some of the colouring is incorrect like the milk machine on the platform and i remember they were light blue when you watch it in colour it's like you've been watching the negative for the film for years and opens up a whole new world amazing it like watching the film for the first time anyway happy new year and keep up the good work Andrew
Happy New Year Andrew. Thank you for pulling me out of my Sunday funks (I blame the nuns of my school-aged youth) every week of 2023. We are so lucky to have you working so hard for our entertainment. Your passion is simply wonderful. Love from the twisted USA.
Another outstanding video...I could watch them for hours. In fact I already do! Happy New Year from a 68 year old Beatles fan from Edinburgh who still has his EP collection tucked safely away!
Great to have a year in review rap up! Your Vee Jay counterfeit explanation raises a possible concern for the BC13 set I purchased a couple years ago that contains what I thought were extremely then discs. The inner sleeves are all stamped with dates during 1986. Have you heard of b any of these sets being counterfeit?
I listened to it once, on the day it came out. I pressed play, waited for the bridge/chorus ("I don't want to lose you" ), it didn't come. Haven't played it again since.
Happy New Year, Andrew!!! Thank you for sharing your passion for The Beatles with the world! The production value of your work is of the highest quality and only adds to the quality of your analyses without overshadowing.
It's great re-watching these key moments from '23. Your videos are gold. Best wishes for' 24. And I have to ask. If you were 21 in 1988, that'd make you *counts on fingers* around 57 now? You look a whole lot younger than that, man.
The year of 2023 happens things differents how that single Now And Then and Red/Blue albuns remixed with new sound.I stayed disappointed because Rubber Soul LP don´t coming how shoulder be.Now in 2024 let´s go see what coming, how new release yet.Have a Happy New Year and continue see this wonder channel about Beatles.Uchino of Japan.I see you Andrew.
It was another year of videos Andrew. The year was busy, so I didn’t get to comment much. I was reminded of the photo/negative archive accidentally being junked. It was a true crime against humanity. Almost on the same scale as the Universal Studio fire of 2008.
in the late 90s i had a weird magical mystery tour vinyl, that if I recall correctly, had a bunch of kind of demo versions and out takes and extended versions of the album tracks... Could you tell me anything about this? or am I just misremembering, I was smoking a lot of purple haze at the time, so I could have just had the original album and imagined that it was more complex than it really is.
I own a brazil 1967 pressing (manufacter in UK) of the MMT british EP, the only differences I can tell are the the single spines which is as far as know one Indicator for the original, isn't it?
The mear statement of Brian Matthew saying that the Beatles "From me to you" single, "I'll rate this no higher than another No.1 !" shows the "rewriting of history" done by the singles chart industry, namely record retailer being the sole source of research done by the writers of the Guiness book of British hit number 1 singles, released in 1977 and, admitting that their research was not exhaustive but now, in todays public conscience thinks Please Please Me was a number 2 single in the UK, when in fact it was a number 1 British single!!! Known throughout the pop world and showbiz industry of the time that please please me was a number 1 single. It rankles me so much that this happened, because of a poorly researched book in the first place 15 years after the history was made. Hello Goodbye, by the way was a 1967 released single by the Beatles, although I see what you mean by the time it was recording 7 weeks at number 1 that was into 1968, sorry......
I've got a Magical Mystery Tour album in a sleeve marked Capitol, with the Smal 2835 catalogue number, it has the miscredited publishing on the inside, but the label is apple instead of capitol.. what do I have, an early 2nd pressing?
Have you ever thought of coving Beatles inspired wrestlers as April fools day I only know two 1. Gorge Ringo the wresting Beatle 2 and the Blue meanie the famous wrestler from ECW . There might be more . Especially in the U.K
It’s too bad but the Emma tapes for the outtakes of she love you and I’ll get you were lost probably the love me do single and PS I love you maybe last I don’t know but it would be great if they were found sick we can hear the work in progress of that song and I think there is an outtake of she loves you the outtakes which are the German versions of the songs.
Thanks for this review, Andrew. A fine hour to leave the firecracker noise outside, where it belongs to. Happy New Year to everyone. All we need is LOVE! (And vinyl records). Cheers :::: Martin
Every week I am impatient to come Sunday morning and watch a new Parlogram video. Thank you very much Andrew, yours is one my favorite Beatles sources. Greetings from Mexico.
