How you doing folks? A slight change to our schedule this Sunday. Here we have our classic Top 10 Classic JRPG list following on from last weeks video where we talked about our Top 10 JRPG games on the Nintendo Switch which you can view here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qCAdJIMEa7w.html but what about the classics you asked? Well here is that video! Enjoy, Bargains will be out on Tuesday after our physicals video from Jordan which is every Monday. Enjoy another battle between Jordan and I and let us know for fun who you think chose the better games! Thanks guys
I feel ya. I skipped Saga Frontier back during the PS1 era, even though during that time I was consuming every RPG I could find. Currently playing through it on Switch and it's both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. lol
Finally got around to playing star ocean first departure a few months back. Very cool. Can't wait for so6. Not gonna get my hopes up but even if it's average/bad like so5 it's still my favourite series.
Yes! First Departure R is definitely worth playing. Be warned though: at the beginning the random battles are SO frequent it'll be maddening until you put some points into the Scouting skill. Then you can use the ability to decrease the encounter rate to a more comfortable pace.
Although I am late, just wanted to take the time to say Happy Birthday Juan! You have no idea how much you guys have helped Nintendo Switch owners & just gamers in general. Thank you for all you guys do & keep up the great work guys!
Thanks Brandon! Appreciate it buddy and glad in some way we can be of help. We just enjoy games and only recommend what we have enjoyed ourselves. Thankd again buddy
I played Tales of Vesperia for the first time on the switch and loved it. Definitely need to play some of these older games that have been brought to switch.
well, can play it perfectly on a CFW switch (Atmosphere) using emulator. But obviously only if you want to hack your switch (and if it is hackable at all). PPSSPP emulator is nearly perfect on Switch too, btw. PSP has a lot of great JRPGs (and not only JRPGs).
Hoping for Breathe of Fire IV and III 🙏🏽 Also looking at Valkyrie Profile (but already in mobile), DQVII (remade for DS). Team 🧙🏻♂️ just because FFIX is my personal bias :))
I am so glad i already have all of these games. I took a little breather from purchasing anything new, only spent $1,500 less. Wished that they would release Star Ocean on physical for the Switch. It deserves to live on outside of PSP for physica game collectors like myself.
Final Fantasy VII was basically one of the reasons I wanted a Playstation in the first place. Also one of the commercials is how I knew about the Franchise at the time. My only clue of what Final Fantasy is like was in Super Mario RPG with a Boss called Culex which has the FFIV Boss Theme and the first time ever hearing the trademark Victory Fanfare. Again, at the time I had to choose between the original Playstation and Nintendo 64. If I chose Nintendo 64, I would have played Super Mario 64, but if I chose Playstation, I would have played Final Fantasy VII. In the end, me and my brothers went with Playstation. Because of that, I've been a Fan of Resident Evil, Metal Gear, Tekken, Ehrgeiz, Bushido Blade and Alone In The Dark. Also Symphony Of The Night is how I know about the Castlevania Series.
Solid bangers all around! Damn fine picks from both sides, but Juan's picks of Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean are what won me over. Though there can only be one winner between you two, I think us as the viewers are the real winners here. Cheers, lads! 🧙♀️💚
Grandia I *all the way*, forever more. My first jRPG, the like of which I've never played again. Except for Grandia I again. And again. And again. Oooh, and that sweet Noriyuki Iwadare music
Romancing Sage 3 is on sale in he eshop right now, I liked your clips of it, looks much better than the eshop gallery photos so I'll pick it up. Oh haha I remember fantasy star and walking those corridors, I didn't have it but my friend did. 🧙♂️
🧙♂️ all of these games are awesome! I'm glad I have all of these on Switch except for 3 of them, I need to get those in the collection. Star Ocean First Departure, Romancing Saga 3 & Saga Frontier.
Its hard to rank classics since childhood nostalgia really affects the rankings but FF7, grandia, secret of mana and star ocean are some of my most memorable ones. Now im really hoping for that 2.5hd remake of dragon quest 3 to be really good but all ive seen is a trailer and no more after that
100% agree with that Rodel but still fun to revisit those games and memories we think. In all honesty, these are all quality games we think even without Nostalgia. Thanks again!
Technically Jordan's list is better but I don't like ff7 at all so I guess I can't pick sword. Lol 🧙Plus I liked the one story in his childhood a lot. Very funny and relatable.
Jordan and Juan got both of my vote split down the middle. Both list games I enjoy playing since I was middle school. Tales of vesperia, ff7, SMT, and star ocean.
There are a lot of great games on both of those lists and they also each contain one of my favorite games of all time, those being Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Phantasy Star. Keep up the excellent work and great lists like the ones in this video are why SwitchWatch is the most tasteful Switch-focused channel on RU-vid. Also, for fans of the Phantasy Star series, the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Classics Collection on the Switch contains Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star III, and Phantasy Star IV. Being able to play all four of the original main games in the series on a single console without having to worry about aging save batteries in cartridges is yet another thing that makes the Switch so appealing.
Both of you had awesome lists, I own most of these. And the rest are on my list to buy soon. I'd have to agree with FF7, but collection of mana and grandia are close seconds. 🗡
Hello team, great choices… I think I have only played one or two among them all XD. My vote 🗡 mainly because you mentioned Trials of Mana and that is my all time favorite. even though I played the Switch 3d version. I actually think you should have used those graphics instead XD
I'm going with Jordan because Juan picked Tales of Vesperia. Not that Vesperia isn't a great game, but if it's considered a classic, then I'm old and I don't want to be old yet.
Okay but really, I don't know who to pick for this one. You both picked amazing games. Smt 3 and phantasy star 1 being some of my favorites.... I don't care you both get a vote from me. Its way too hard to pick a winner when you both kept pulling out games that I love to death.
Sorry it’s his birthday, so gotta go with Juan 🧙♂️, plus he mentioned Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean First Departure R. Any chance that they will ever come out with Star Ocean Second Evolution and have both games on a physical cart?
I've actually only ever played Phantasy Star out of all of these games🧙♂️, which actually makes this a really exciting list of games to pickup. And to play. Eventually. Still need to pickup the FF VII/VIII cart, Romancing Saga 2 & 3, Grandia HD, Legend of Mana, Dragon Quest collections, and Star Ocean FDR.
Hard to pick between your two lists. FF7 and Grandia 1 are easily my favorite RPGs from the 32 bit Era... but Phantasy Star is my favorite 8 bit RPG and Vesperia my favorite Tales of.
⚔️ Thanks used your coupon code and saved 12.00! I bought almost all the games you recommended (most were already in my list haha) the code pushed me to buy today. Thanks again guys great content
I get what you’re saying about the classic squenix games. Myy passion is srpg’s so my “FF7 moment” was “The Legend of Heroes A Tear of Vermillion” on PSP x Also I’m desperate for Tales of Graces f port to the Switch that would be amazing Oh and Happy Birthday Juan but sorry Jordan just nicks it ⚔️⚔️⚔️x
Cool list though I'm not a fan of any of the games mentioned lol (at least the ones I played of them). For me Skies of Arcadia, Shadow Herats & Radiant Historia are my favorites old school RPGs 😌
Final Fantasy 6, in the form of its original western release Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES, was my first FF game (even though I played it at my cousin's house) and still my favorite after all this time. Made me wanna play World of Final Fantasy all the more so I could finally have the MagiTek Armor in my party.
🧙♂️Juan for the win! He didn't cheat, and sympathy points for being over 40, AND only having an hour a day video game play time as a kid. Oof! JRPG I would like on the Switch? Suikoden.
Ah man this is a hard pick on one hand one of you picked legend of mana and SaGa frontier remastered but then other guy picked dq3 and romancing saga 3.
